We found this restaurant in downtown Somerset. There's a lovely outdoor seating area. The restaurant is extremely large and decorated in an austere black, white and brown motif. There is also a large bar in addition to the seating areas and the outdoor patio seating. The restaurant was busy at 7 PM on a Tuesday night. We had about a 10 minute wait for a table which was fine. The staff was very courteous and kind. The food was next level. My husband's fillet was cooked perfectly to order. It was also delicious and exactly what a fillet should be. The mashed potatoes were insanely good. I ordered the Reuben which was hands-down the best Reuben I've ever had and I've eaten many of them, LOL! The price point was reasonable, a rare find these days. The only downside for the evening was that my Reuben was delivered without the onion rings, which was my side. 20 minutes later they were delivered to the table ice cold. Otherwise this would have been a five star review. I absolutely recommend this restaurant and hopefully your visit will be flawless. read more

We stopped in for a weekend lunch. The restaurant is an industrial beauty. The bar boasts a wall of bourbons. Beings we had a drive, we did not partake. We ordered the loaded brisket fries and cheese curds. Both appetizers were delish. We each enjoyed a fish entree. I had the Mahi Mahi. It was good, just a hair over in my opinion. The atmosphere is always great, just enough liveliness to keep it interesting. They have an unbelievable variety of wines and Bourbon to complement your meal. Wednesday night is Prime Rib night so I drove over from Russell Springs for that. It was as good as promised so perfect. The reason for the lower rating was because one of the stuffed avocados was bad (see pictures), the chicken salad was a bit too sweet for our liking, and the fries were a bit too greasy. Great selection of bourbon. The food menu is not large, but everything I had was absolutely delicious and very well done. I happen to get there on Thursday, which was five dollar martinis and had an amazing dirty martini with blue cheese olives. The garden salad that came with the mahi-mahi was very fresh and crisp and had homemade blue cheese dressing. The mahi was cooked to perfection with an incredible peach bourbon glaze and salsa on top. And don't even get me going on how incredible the cheesecake was. After a long day hiking over at Cumberland falls, I needed a cold brew and some food in me. Checking my Apple Maps I searched for a bar and grill location and it provided me several locations. I chose this place because it was in Downtown. As you walk in, I was immediately greeted and seated. I asked for a cold beer and it was served immediately and cold. There were several items on the menu such as filet mignon, rib eye and some chicken plates. To be on the safe side I went with the steak bourbon burger. The burger was delicious along with the peppered fries. I was completely satisfied. My rule is if an establishment has a good burger their steaks are right up there. So folks if you're looking for a steak place or a burger, this is the place. The service was outstanding and quick. read more

Note: though they call them "smash burgers" - they're still fairly thick, so you will be full! I got the Smoked Gouda Maple Bacon Burger (that's a mouthful - literally) with smoked Gouda, applewood bacon, lettuce, and red onion. YUM! I ate every bite of it. The fries were also so good and crispy. We also enjoyed the pretzel sticks for an appetizer and I easily could've eaten more than one of them if I didn't have to save room for my burger! My mom got the nachos with chicken and I tried a few of her chips - they were great and homemade. Lastly, they have an extensive drink menu with pages and pages of bourbons. I got a blueberry smash type of cocktail with Buffalo Trace that I really liked. I'd like to come back here next time I'm in town for sure! Stopped here on the way to Lake Cumberland, and glad I skipped my first choice. Had the stacked cheese burger, fries and a cold one. The burger was phenomenal, the beer was cold, the bartender Vanessa was fantastic. My only gripe were the fries, once they cooled they weren't great. All in all a great meal. Food was pretty good, we started with our version of the nacho as an appetizer, except we did all vegetables. Very very good! This is not your average nacho. I ordered the chicken salad sandwich minus the croissant. My counterpart ordered the club. My chicken salad was great and it was just what I needed. I will say my counterpart ordered the club, but he wishes he had ordered the burger. The club really is not a club sandwich. They need to rethink that. A club should not be served on Ryebread and should be triple-decker and toasted.if you're going to do a sandwich, please seek out places that do them right. Available for help on that one if you need it. The place is well done, and very clean. Our server was great and did not flinch to our smart Alick well intentioned humor. She gave it right back... Two nice pool tables, However the place could use a bit of contrast, too monotone for my taste. I really loved everything about this place, the bathrooms were clean at neat (ok that is a thing), there are pool tables in the back. There is a full bar...back to being wet! We didn't really like the flavor of the cubed chicken. I wouldn't recommend it. Although their homemade chips served with it were really good. It was overall lacking the extra Buffalo/cheesy factor. I went way out of the box & got the monte Cristo sandwich. The bread is more of a funnel cake style flavor/texture. I definitely would have ordered something different had I known. I can see where someone would love that sandwich if it was their thing. My husband got the Gouda Burger & he said it was greasy but it did have good flavor. I tried a corner & really liked it. I guess bc I had so little it didn't seem so greasy to me. My sister ordered & loved the fried chicken sandwich. She got Buffalo & Carolina gold BBQ on the side. No kidding the Carolina gold stole the show with our fries. It was all of our favorite thing. Who woulda thought. It had like a vinegar base. Really tangy twist to the golden Bbq we're used to. The onion rings. Holy Moly. I've never seen any so big. We were shocked. Ha! We tried one & it was pretty good. They had good breading. What a great time we had here this afternoon. While visiting for the 3rd time to this fun city for our Modern Square Dance convention we finally had the time to visit this restaurant. Our service was perfect, not hovering at all. We had two of our best friends with us and they could not figure out how I found Charred Oak. Wish we had the time to play some pool. (I used to be a shark ;) Our friends who had eaten lunch not long before we had the late afternoon break to make it over to this fun place. So the friends split the Cuban Sandwich and really enjoyed it as well as the fresh waffle fries. I loved loved loved my Monte Cristo sandwich with the Bourbon Peach jam. Haven't had a good Monte Cristo in years, can't wait until I'm back to have it again! (Oh waffle fries came with my plate as well) HH (hungry hubby) decided the appetizer "Loaded Brisket Fries" would not be too big... he was wrong! The shredded bbq brisket with caramelized onions a homemade queso. plied high on very crispy waffle fries. Our friends decided to share the Bourbon Peach pie. Came here with a guest. My first time in Somerset. Was informed this was a good place. My guest ordered their "special" sandwich for the day and I ordered a Burger since figured that was a safe bet. Also an order of sweet potato fries. When the food came I was totally disappointed with my order as the bun looked old and tasted stale. The food was warm but the fries were cold. This was my second time here. The first time I grabbed a burger with sweet potato fries and I recall the service being very good. I also think they had a band playing or music fairly loud, to me. Tonight I ordered the bourbon chicken Philly which came with waffle fries. The service was fairly good but it took a little longer than I'd like to get the appetizer and for refills. They also have a lengthy bourbon selection and cocktail menu. For me, the food was just okay. I got the brisket tacos and Brussels sprouts. The brisket in the tacos was good and had good flavor, but there wasn't a lot of meat in them. The bulk of the taco was full of lettuce with a sprinkling of brisket on top. It also didn't come with any type of sauce and I felt like a sauce was needed. The Brussels sprouts felt boiled. They were extremely soft and didn't have a lot of flavor. They had a lengthy menu and I'd be open to giving it another try and order something else. read more
