Me and a friend travel alot, we have been to this restaurant before and it was delicious. This time around how ever it was just a bad experience all around. The lady that sat us did not even wait for my drink order, and the food had been on the buffet far to long most of it was like eating jerki even the dessertcakes was hard as a rock, however the Habachy grill was good could have been a little more generouswith the sauce. The first thing that comes to mind is "Wow!" I'm a truck driver and I've had more than my fair share of Chinese Buffets. This Kings Buffet lives up to the name. I tried the General Tso's chicken (which is great!) , the sauteed green beans, sesame chick, an orange glazed chicken wings (there wasn't a name tag for it), baked crab meat, Lomen, steak and broccoli beef. All of it was delicious. The steak was cooked medium well but still juicy. The sushi bar isn't on the level of an actual Japanese sushi restaurant, but it I'd far above what you'd expect at a Chinese Buffet. I didn't try the Mongolian BBQ, as I didn't have the room left in my stomach. They have a good looking dessert bar area with actual hand dipped ice cream. I was here on a Sunday about 2pm. They were packed but all the food was fresh and well stocked. Service was fast and attentive. Dinner, which is all day on Sunday was $11.29 for adults and $1.99 for drinks. For myself I paid $14.61 for dinner and a drink including sales tax. If your hungry, that's a steal for how much I ate. Also, if your a truck driver King Buffet sits adjacent to a larger shopping center where you can park along back. I saw a few rigs parked in the front of the shopping center when I arrived. Clean and organized. The food selection is large. I didn't taste it all of course but the food I tried were alright. I was in the bathroom and there was a waitress putting on lipstick, then a man opened the bathroom door and called out a name but when he saw me, he quickly closed the door. Then the waitress, irritated, turned to me and said that he is the manager here and he sometimes goes in the lady's bathroom to check on waitresses to make sure they're not on their phone and whatnot. I don't know who the owner is but I don't think he/she was in there at all since a boy was running the register. Well finally a good Chinese buffet in birmingham. I have seen and ate at a lot of the past good ones in the area, most keep the level up for a couple of years or so then fall off. We tried out this new restaurant after seeing the parking lot over loaded from day one. We went on Father's day & that May have been the first mistake. It was super super crowded. The restaurant itself is pretty, but there were just too many people around the buffet, standing in the dining areas, it was just too much. The food was just ok, there was really nothing special. Definitely the best buffet I've gone to in Birmingham, which isn't too hard. Coming from Huntsville, I've eaten at 88 Buffet, and I was expecting Birmingham to have even better buffet options when I came here. This was not the case. I would say that King Buffet is pretty similar in options and vibe as 88 Buffet--hibachi, sushi, and even some of the options provided outside of the typical Chinese cuisine. They had some interesting options that I haven't seen before though--fried imitation crab and fish soup (which my mom appreciated). It's new, so everything is clean. Still, maybe I've been spoiled, but I still wasn't that impressed. The dessert selection seemed small and the hibachi didn't taste that great. I would rate it as 3.5 stars. The staff are very friendly. Our waiter was David and he was excellent. The food was hot, fresh and stayed stocked. Has a really good taste and Saturday buffet is only $8.25. This is a great bargain. This will be our new go to buffet and we will gladly drive from Pell City if they keep the service and the food at the level that it is now. read more

My daughter and I went during lunch time and did not have much of a wait. The staff was very friendly and the food was very good and fresh. They were constantly putting out fresh food on the buffet. My favorite part is the Mongolian grill where you can customize your own grill bowl with meats and veggies and have it cooked fresh. Compared to the other Chinese buffets I've been to in my lifetime, I would give this place a 3. However due to the limited Chinese buffet options in Birmingham, I will give this buffet a 4. My favorite thing to eat from the buffet was the black peppered chicken. All the other things were ok, but a little sweeter in taste than I would prefer. Asked to be seated at a reasonable distance from other people & they didn't understand what I was asking. Finally got a booth separated from others & a few minutes later someone was seated in the booth right next to us & it had a huge yellow X taped on it! Duh, means do not seat here! Food wasn't fresh, some were mislabeled etc. Mac & cheese was dried out, chicken was labeled fried fish, cooked crab casserole was dried out & stayed almost empty. My husband and I were here for our anniversary. It was very clean and well maintained. We went around 6pm and staff was constantly bringing fresh food out. I was disappointed that they did not have crab legs. They did have small fried crabs but not large crab legs like you would expect. The crabs they did have were so small it wasn't really worth it. I did see one dude chowing down on those crabs, eating shell and all so there's that I guess. The sushi was an awesome selection, as well as sashimi. The rest of the buffet featured all classic Chinese style food such as sweet and sour chicken, General Tsoa chicken, beef and broccoli, teriyaki chicken, sesame chicken, chicken on a stick, fried rice, egg rolls, fried and steamed shrimp, lo mein, a variety of soups, and every sauce you can imagine. There was also a large salad bar and some fruit options as well as a dessert bar. We didn't use the hibachi but they had a wide variety of options including calamari. This place has nice decor, clean, inexpensive, and has great food. The food was hot and delicious! Offers a wide variety of food as well as a Mongolian food bar. Has the traditional Chinese Buffett dishes plus much more. Staff was quick with replacing food, seating, and service. It would definitely have gotten a strong 4 stars had my waitress been friendly, attentive, and I not have had to ask around for a check. She was quick with bringing drinks, but she was not nice or happy to be there. She did offer a refill before we left. Overall, I will be back and I would recommend.
