Recently tried Yoe Xpress and I was pleasantly surprised. I decided to place my order online for the lunch special. It was $14.14 for a Mongolian beef lunch special. A little high, but what's not high priced now and days? They seem to have more specials if you order inside. The portion size was very decent for lunch and it comes with an egg roll. The Mongolian beef was slightly sweet and the rice had just a tad more flavor than normal plain fried rice. It paired nicely with the heavily flavored beef. Overall, I would go back for a quick lunch order. Bonus points: They advertise using no MSG in their food. read more

My kids like their food and were very excited last night when I told them we could get delivery through DoorDash. We ordered Shrimp Lo Mein, Shrimp Fried Rice, Coconut Soup with Shrimp, and Sweet and Sour Chicken. I tried the Lo Mein and Fried Rice and was happy with both of them. The Lo Mein had a little more oil than I like, but my kids loved it. It tasted fresh and was better than some I've gotten from other restaurants. The serving of Sweet and Sour Chicken was generous and came with a side of white rice. The chicken coating had a nice texture. We'll definitely be ordering again. read more

A solid three stars is what Yoe Express earns. My Mongolian beef was pretty good, with the fried rice being full of flavor and taste. The egg roll was good. Why only three stars you may ask? Price and portion size. My date and I both ordered the Mongolian beef and two drinks, and the cost was around $23. Our serving size was what you would normally receive at most restaurants during the lunch hour, not dinner. At other restaurants I would normally have enough food left over to eat at another time, but not here. There was no music or television in the restaurant and when my date and I arrived, the only other people sitting at tables were the workers drinking sodas. We may return if in the area. I doubt it. Just not worth it for the amount of food received versus the cost. read more

I had not been having much luck around BHM, but it was a long day of work and running errands in the rain. I found this spot in Homewood figured why not. I walked in, quickly ordered and in about 10 minutes had my food. Hot/sour soup was ok. I asked for spicy beef lo mein, but they forgot the spicy part. Noodles were good, eat was good portion. I also ordered shrimp fried rice. Shrimp was good portion and the rice was the best part of the meal. I will return as it is close. read more

I had some problems when the Hoover store was open (and I lived on that side of town) with both the service and the food the company provided. ON THE CONTRARY, I tried my luck ordering delivery from the Homewood store. They exceed all expectations. My food was delicious, and my service was crazy fast! I will be ordering again. read more

The service is good, the woman who took my order was very friendly. The food came out quickly and was hot. I got the rangoon, which was good, but the almond chicken was really off. I didn't get a chance to say anything because I took it to go, but it tasted old and had a sour aftertaste. The fried rice tasted of nothing but pepper and oil. read more

In town for the night and our hotel told us that they delivered. Perfect after driving all day and just wanting to sit down and not drive anymore. After reading reviews online about small portion and the food not being good I was skeptical, but figured I'd give it a shot to not leave my hotel. Boy was I so impressed by the food and the service. The beef fried rice was excellent, and the shrimp lo mien was AMAZING shrimp was okay but I wasn't expecting super fresh being so far from the gulf. Staying at the Sheraton downtown for an event and we needed dinner. It was raining so we didn't want to venture out. Thought Yoe Xpress would be a good choice since they offered delivery. Hmm. Food arrived in a fairly timely manner. Not really "Xpress," but not an excessively long wait. The food was relatively well priced. It was also very mediocre in quality and I guess they decided we didn't need the steamed rice that we paid for. The hot & sour soup was exceptional. The appetizer wings were very good, as well. The egg rolls were abysmal and I'm pretty sure they were a frozen, pre-packaged product. The Mongolian beef looked really good but the taste was bland and just not very good. I was full at the end of the meal but just not all that satisfied. The end result for both my husband and I was a couple of hours in the bathroom. Watch your credit card statements at this place. After getting carry out and charging it, and not leaving a tip, my credit card statement showed that a tip was left on top of the bill. Yoe Xpress in Homewood serves a good purpose: it is the only (to our knowledge) restaurant that provides delivery service of Chinese food in Homewood. For what it seeks to be, it is very good and we enjoy the dishes we order. Once you find the dishes you like from the restaurant, you can count on pretty consistent versions of those dishes, delivered to your door by a nice person. The food overall is pretty good and the people are nice. While it's not comparable to something you'd find in Chinatown in NY or SF, it's good. We are happy that Yoe Xpress serves Homewood. read more

We ordered at 8pm and believed this would be enough time for food to be delivered to our house before the restaurant closed at 9pm. We were wrong. Once we ordered they said it would be 45 minutes, a bit long but understandable for a Monday night. They called us back 15 minutes later to ask for our credit card info again and the call came from an employees personal number, again telling us 30-45 minutes. It came close to 9pm and I called again asking where our food was. They said it should show up at any minute. 9:20 comes around and our food still hadn't arrived, I start calling every number I could find and was told by an employee that the last order went out over a half hour before. Another employee who I spoke to, said he was left to clean the entire restaurant by himself which is why he hadn't delivered our food yet. 9:45 rolls around and our food finally arrives, the gentleman who delivered it gave us $5 off and a bag of donuts to apologize. Our food was warm but not hot like it should have arrived. I felt bad for him but still our order took over an hour and a half to drive 3.7 miles.
