We've been to Kindred Spirits many times on our trips to Hocking Hills and always make a point of stopping for dinner. Its our tradition. We usually enjoy outstanding service and excellent food. This time however, the experience was a little lackluster. When we arrived we were ignored for quite a while as staff moved through the room . Eventually we were told our waitress was too busy to see us and we'd have to wait, which was odd because another couple entered and was greeted and seated immediately. We seemed to inconvenience the bar staff by wanting a drink while we were waiting, not sure why she was so surly with us but we missed the friendly conversations we've had on past visits. Our waitress took our food order, but only that. Did not ask if we wanted anything to drink or if we wanted anything from the bar, which we did. She never returned for the rest of the meal to see if the food was okay or if there's anything else we wanted so we had to ask someone else for a refill on our water and walk to the bar and buy our own drinks. I guess an iced tea and a diet coke are not possible? Other waitresses were regularly checking on nearby tables, so apparently the staff only chose to ignore us. The ambiance of this restaurant is great, it's like an upscale log cabin inside and has a covered/screened in patio as well as an outdoor patio with umbrella'd tables. We dined here twice for lunch while hiking in Hocking Hills. The servers we had were kind, got our orders right. Food was a little slow to come out despite the restaurant being vastly empty, but we weren't in a hurry so didn't mind. This is an excellent alternative to the pizza or diners that seem to be the only options nearby without going into Logan or Lancaster. The food was very simple and overall good, not super gourmet or life-changing. Will return next time we are in HH! read more

The food was very good. We had 2 cocktails, ordered 2 appetizers and 2 delicious entrees. The ambiance was amazing and we had a great time. We checked in on Yelp when we got there and were surprised to see we got a free dessert by checking in. We ordered dessert and it was also delicious. Upon receiving the bill we showed our server the Yelp free dessert offer The server told us she didn't know about that offer and didn't know what to do with it or how to "do it". She left our table and went to the kitchen and talked to the staff about it and they all claimed that they didn't know about it either. Needless to say, the Yelp offer was not honored. This was our first visit to Hocking Hills and I chose this place based on a brief look at Yelp. I managed to snag a last minute reservation available online for that evening and I'm so glad I did - we had an amazing meal! The service was fast and friendly and the food was outstanding. Prices were also very affordable for such outstanding quality! I had the salmon and my husband had the scallops. The mashed potatoes were amazing! They did a great job with social distancing, greeting us outside to ensure we had a reservation and taking us directly outdoors to our table on the back patio. (My only complaint is that we were seated out on the back patio up against the wall near the plumbing which smelled a little funny.) All employees were wearing masks and tables were definitely 6ft or more apart. I did peek inside and the interior decor is very nice - definitely a classy (but still casual) place to go for a nice dinner. Overall it was an excellent experience and far exceeded our expectations. My husband and I had dinner here on our last night in Hocking Hills. We were kindly greeted by the staff and seated. our waitress , Rachel did a great job explaining the menu. We ordered the baked goat cheese that was to come with flatbread crackers. to our palate the topping was too tart for our liking, and the crackers looked and tasted like sociables, but the goat cheese was very good and creamy. My husband ordered the Bistro Steak, cheese and truffle mashed potatoes and roasted summer squash. the cheese sauce for the steak was good but came cold, the potatoes were runny and the summer squash was not roasted as told but steamed. I ordered the Asian Sea Bass, roasted summer squash and basami rice. The Sea bass was over cooked, rice was rice, nothing spectacular and again steamed squash. For dessert we ordered the 4 berry cobbler, what a disappointment. we got a bowl of hot berries with a scoop of ice cream. there was absolutely no topping to this cobbler, not even on the bottom of the bowl. as for the cost, we don't feel it was worth $146. read more

Over the course of our stay at the Inn & Spa at Cedar Falls, we ate 5 meals here: 3 breakfasts, a lunch, and a dinner. Overall, the food was surprisingly good for being located in a fairly rural area. The breakfasts were delicious and generously sized, I ordered something different each morning and enjoyed all of them. The pancakes were great, nice and fluffy; the egg sandwich was tasty and too large to finish, although the accompanying potatoes were not as hot as they should have been; the egg/potato/meat/cheese bowl was also quite good. For inn guests, the breakfast comes with either fruit or granola & yogurt. The fruit was fine; the yogurt was very creamy, but the accompanying granola was a bit stale. Our lunch was the only disappointing meal - we both ordered salads with mixed greens, and a significant number of the leaves were wilted and turning slimy. Because of this, we avoided ordering any salads for the rest of our meals here. Our dinner, while not fine dining, was enjoyable. They have a nice selection of local beers on tap, although mine was pricey at $9. For appetizers we opted to share the flatbread and a cup of the mushroom soup, both of which were good. For an entree I ordered the bistro steak. The steak was enjoyable but not stellar; the accompanying mashed potatoes were quite good, and the green beans were fine - simply prepared without out much flavor. Welp, as I write this review all I can say is I am befuddled by the positive reviews. we had what can only be described as boiled steak the bottom of it was white. A color I didn't know steak could be. we got ribeye market price with green beans and mashed potato. when it came out it was curled into a bowl with a pool of butter inside I attempted to eat it and my husband and I made our next stop to cvs for medication. total bill was 130.00. read more

Located within the Inn at Cedar Falls the setting and ambiance is upscale rustic with the main dining room in a 100 plus year old cabin. We started our dinner with cocktails- a Manhattan for me and a glass of Chardonnay for my wife. The menu had some interesting appetizers and we tried the parmigiana panacotta, seemed like an old choice for a app but it was a savory tasty start. Next course was a Cesar salad that was crisp and not overdressed. I appreciated the offer for anchovies along with salad. Our main course was the tenderloin, medium for my wife and med rare was my choice. Both steaks were done correctly with a nice side of Brussels Sprouts and mashed Potatos. The service was spot on, attentive enough to meet our needs without being overbearing. If you are down in Hocking Hills and want a good refined dinner away from the crowds check out Kindred Spirits. Stumbled across this place by accident. Didn't know this place existed and we live not far from here. We did not have a reservation but they were able to seat us anyway but make sure to make a reservation Prior to showing up. Our servers name was Tiff and she was one of the best servers we've ever had at a restaurant. The food was to die for and you could tell that everything was homemade from scratch. Not the cheapest place probably about $50-$60 per person roughly pending on what you get. Not a place to take your kids just going to put that out their. This delightful restaurant tucked into the Hocking Hills State Park clearly takes pride in their establishment. The food for both lunch and dinner was delicious, and we had the best customer service that we've had at a restaurant in the last year. The restaurant is the nicest in the area, the service was great and the food... fantastic! We stuck with the specials at dinner, pasta and salmon the first night, then pasta and scallops the second night. All were great and the scallops were the best I've ever had. Breakfast did not disappoint, try the granola- so good. I order breakfast bowls every time I eat breakfast out, kindred spirits may have ruined that for me. The Cure- their version of the breakfast bowl- was so much better than any I've had before, I may never be satisfied with another again. This was the first time in a long time that I didn't mind paying premium prices for meals because they were truly fantastic. read more

Thank goodness there is somewhere better to eat in Hocking Hills area. We dined in a pretty cool old cabin room with a romantic low light atmosphere. Service was good and the meal was quite enjoyable. I also loved the little knick knack gift shop next door. What an unexpected gem! My husband and I visited the Hocking Hills area with friends last weekend. I came across this restaurant while googling restaurants, and we decided to give Kindred Spirits a try. We had an absolutely wonderful evening and our server, Tiffany, was the absolute best! She spoke slowly and clearly when telling us about the evening's specials, answered all of our questions, and was very attentive the entire evening. The lemon drop martini I had was probably the best I have ever had...So fresh! Our entrees were perfectly prepared, and the fruit cobbler and chocolate lava cake (which the 4 of us shared) were to die for! We enjoyed ourselves so much that night, that we came back the next night, too, and arrived early so that we could enjoy a drink in the living room/sitting room area of the Inn and Spa at Cedar Falls (the restaurant is located on the grounds of the Inn) Although Tiffany was not working that night (we asked!), our server that night was also fantastic. And for a second straight night, our meals did not disappoint...They were wonderful! The building itself is so quaint and charming...We just loved everything about it!
