    Rice paper rolls

Probably the least impressive of the several Sydney vegetarian places I tried, but nonetheless a nice option to have. They offer a pretty Thai menu, and it is really helpful to be able to order Thai food without having to worry about hidden seafood ingredients. They had an alfresco seating area next to some very loud and crowded restaurant, but were predictably quieter. Their menu has pictures (albeit often not on the same page as the menu item being described, which is odd), but I still felt a bit mislead when the coconut lime tofu I ordered came out with a lot of vegetables that are neither Thai nor ones that I like, and not that much actual tofu, none of which I expected having looked at the picture. The other main source of dissatisfaction was that I just wasn't filled up; I get that downtown Sydney is expensive, but I could imagine having been more satisfied. That being said, it was tasty, and I could definitely see returning if I were in the area again in an effort to find something more to my liking.

When you go to a cafe called the Kindness cafe, you're expecting a lovely place and really positive atmosphere. That's exactly what you get! Quite possibly the nicest lady ever, Dusadee the owner takes us to our table and gives us a rundown of the concept. She wanted to deliver beautiful and delicious Thai food that was organic and doesn't harm any animals in the process. That said, it is a vegetarian / vegan restaurant. Normally wouldn't be our scene, being protein lovers, but we were completely satisfied. We had seen some beautiful pics of their famous corn fritters on Instgram and had to visit the Kindness Cafe. Situated in a nice little dining precinct in Darlinghurst with. Kindness cafe is situated between two extremely busy restaurants. We tried a couple of starters - the wonderfully fresh rice paper rolls, with tofu, the corn fritters which the corn tasted incredible and some roti! Loved them. For the main, a delicious vegetable red curry named Thai garden. As expected with Thai it had some spice to it, but it was managable! We decided to have rice and some awesome crispy noodles with vegetables aswell. They also have rice pudding and fruit for dessert. It is BYO and they offer delivery as well. The owners are lovely and really believe in their concept. We left fulfilled, worth a visit for some great Thai cuisine even if you are a carnivore.

This restaurant offers up fresh, delicious and filling food with a Thai inspired cuisine. All dishes are vegan and vegetarian with plenty of gluten free options. The location is ideal tucked in between other buzzing restaurants in a courtyard in Darlinghurst. Choosing starters was difficult as there are many tempting options on the menu. We went for the rice paper rolls and the corn fritters. The rice paper rolls were filled with mushrooms, tofu, carrot and cucumber and served with two delicious sauces - peanut and sweet chili. The corn fritters had four servings and despite being fried were perfectly light and combined well with the sweet chili dipping sauce. For mains we had peanut stir fry and a green curry both with organic tofu. The vegetables in both these dishes were extremely fresh and despite there being no meat they were very filling and great value at less than $20 a dish. The green curry had the perfect amount of spice and the sauce was delicious with rice. I usually don't order desserts at Asian restaurants but it's a must at kindness cafe. The dessert roti is served with maple, honey and cinnamon sugar and is great for sharing. My absolute favorite was the black sticky rice with warm coconut milk - superb! Grab yourself some friends and a bottle of wine and head to Kindness cafe for some deliciously fresh Thai food

Really amazing food. Has to be one of the top 3 vegetarian meals I've eaten. We had the spring rolls, cashew chicken stir fry, berry rice, fried seaweed tofu and then some deserts. Everything was insanely good. The service was great. The food was all served at exactly the right temperature and packed with a ton of flavor. Even if you eat meat like I do you will not miss it one bit for this meal. Definitely worth a stop if your in darlinghurst

Great place to have authentic vegetarian foods. The paper rice rolls was great. Roti was delicious and the curry was tasteful. Thumb up!

It isn't entirely 'super food' or 'raw food' but more accurately; 'comfort food' on the vegetarian dining spectrum. Inside its a humble diner-style place with light wood furnishings and a sunny courtyard out the back. Most of the food is on display at the front and ready-to-assemble if you're in a rush. Like burgers? Well, you'll be spoilt for choice here if you're a vego. There are about 5 different kinds; like zucchini and feta, cajun spiced tofu or chipotle smoked mushroom. Personally, I cant go past the mixed plate. A rainbow of whatever the daily salads, edame falafel, changing dips - oh dips! - house made pickles and pita bread. It will fill you up good. Healthy, hearty, homely food.

The burgers are incredibly tasty for vegetarian food. I had the olive and almond burger. The mix of the beetroot relish, mayo, tomato relish were flavoursome, just like a great burger, and they were oozing out of the burger. The sweet potato chips with basil mayo are the bomb!!! I ordered them everytime I see the truck and here at the diner, I was presented with a bigger serving. They are my favourite chips in Sydney. Service is so-so, the food came out fast. You order at the counter and water is self-service. Decor is like that of a cute trendy cafe but nothing special. Food is the highlight here. Hours after lunch, I'm still salivating over the burgers and sweet potato chips. Cannot wait to return.

This is hands-down my favourite place for lunch in Sydney. I seriously get excited about working in…read moreour Sydney office purely because it's directly across from the MLC Centre so I can stuff myself silly with Iku food throughout the work day. Iku Wholefood is a chain of 12 stores scattered throughout Sydney offering healthy but delicious vegan food. It's popular across the board, not just with the vegan crowd, which is a testament to how delicious it is. Iku has a wide variety of food options crammed into a tiny food-court space. Their display counter includes a dizzying array of sweet treats like cookies, pastries, and muffins, as well as savoury snacks like nori rolls, polenta and couscous slices, rice balls, millet balls, etc. And that's just their display counter. Their full menu itself includes pies, salad plates with a variety of mix-and-match options, lasagne, casseroles, curries, and soups. By far my favorite thing on the menu is the macroburger. It's described as "a tofu fritter served on a steamed wholemeal bun spread with tahini sauce, topped with leafy green salad and Iku salad dressing." I don't normally like tofu but this is crazy delicious and unrecognisable as anything tofu-y. I seriously fantasise about biting into a delicious Iku macroburger while I'm on the flight over to Sydney because I'm filled with giddy expectation and I know it'll be the first thing I eat when I land. You can also get the mildly healthier macrobiotic wrap, which contains the same ingredients as the macroburger, just in wrap form and with slightly more greens. Note that both of these are a bit messy to eat, so probably not best to take into a lunch meeting with important executives. That and you'll rudely inhale it because it's so delicious. I also enjoy the Iku pies (filled with beans, chickpeas, lentils, veggies, etc.), sweet treats (I've had their muffins and a couple of cookies -- delicious), and nori rolls (the sauce is amazing). Everything tastes so fresh and innovative. The only thing that didn't wow me was the lasagne. I felt it was a bit bland. I haven't tried any of the casseroles, curries, or soups yet. They also do breakfast, which I haven't tried either. This Iku is located in the MLC Centre, which is the funny round UFO-shaped building on the south side of Martin Place -- you can't miss it. Just walk into the food court and Iku is near the entrance on your right. Because this is a food court in the middle of the CBD, seating is scarce between 12pm and 2pm. If you want to find a seat, go early for lunch (around 11am -- the benefit there is you can ogle all the gorgeous young tradies eating their lunches -- oh sorry off-topic), or go after 2pm. Or just get take-out and bring it back to your desk. There are 11 other locations around the CBD and nearly all of them get amazing reviews, so definitely check this chain out :) I wish they had them in Melbourne!!

Inside, there are maybe 3 tables, a counter with 6 seats and a mezzanine with a few more tables. Call ahead (they take reservations) - things get served quickly so a wait shouldn't be too long. We stopped during happy hour so got a discount on large beers and a very nice Sauv Blanc. As for food - it's mostly dumplings with some steamed buns. Most dumplings come in orders of 4, so you can get a bit of variety if you're hungry. Others have mentioned the duck sliders ($11) and they're great - succulent duck with a bit of hoisin and some veggies for crunch. Dumplings wise, we had steamed pork, pork and shrimp and of course soup dumplings (9.90 each). All of them were delicious and made in house. The soup dumplings were my favorite - they had delicate skins and the filling/soup was incredible. Prices are really reasonable - 3 orders of dumplings, 2 orders of buns and 4 drinks - about $60.

We tried 3 food items, the scallion pancakes, pan fried dumplings, and xlb. They were all solid, though not the best ever. The scallion pancakes were really different than any I have ever had....really thick. They weren't bad. Overall, we felt the restaurant was a bit expensive for what we got and not the most comfortable ever, but it was still a good experience.
