    Rice paper rolls

Probably the least impressive of the several Sydney vegetarian places I tried, but nonetheless a nice option to have. They offer a pretty Thai menu, and it is really helpful to be able to order Thai food without having to worry about hidden seafood ingredients. They had an alfresco seating area next to some very loud and crowded restaurant, but were predictably quieter. Their menu has pictures (albeit often not on the same page as the menu item being described, which is odd), but I still felt a bit mislead when the coconut lime tofu I ordered came out with a lot of vegetables that are neither Thai nor ones that I like, and not that much actual tofu, none of which I expected having looked at the picture. The other main source of dissatisfaction was that I just wasn't filled up; I get that downtown Sydney is expensive, but I could imagine having been more satisfied. That being said, it was tasty, and I could definitely see returning if I were in the area again in an effort to find something more to my liking.

When you go to a cafe called the Kindness cafe, you're expecting a lovely place and really positive atmosphere. That's exactly what you get! Quite possibly the nicest lady ever, Dusadee the owner takes us to our table and gives us a rundown of the concept. She wanted to deliver beautiful and delicious Thai food that was organic and doesn't harm any animals in the process. That said, it is a vegetarian / vegan restaurant. Normally wouldn't be our scene, being protein lovers, but we were completely satisfied. We had seen some beautiful pics of their famous corn fritters on Instgram and had to visit the Kindness Cafe. Situated in a nice little dining precinct in Darlinghurst with. Kindness cafe is situated between two extremely busy restaurants. We tried a couple of starters - the wonderfully fresh rice paper rolls, with tofu, the corn fritters which the corn tasted incredible and some roti! Loved them. For the main, a delicious vegetable red curry named Thai garden. As expected with Thai it had some spice to it, but it was managable! We decided to have rice and some awesome crispy noodles with vegetables aswell. They also have rice pudding and fruit for dessert. It is BYO and they offer delivery as well. The owners are lovely and really believe in their concept. We left fulfilled, worth a visit for some great Thai cuisine even if you are a carnivore.

This restaurant offers up fresh, delicious and filling food with a Thai inspired cuisine. All dishes are vegan and vegetarian with plenty of gluten free options. The location is ideal tucked in between other buzzing restaurants in a courtyard in Darlinghurst. Choosing starters was difficult as there are many tempting options on the menu. We went for the rice paper rolls and the corn fritters. The rice paper rolls were filled with mushrooms, tofu, carrot and cucumber and served with two delicious sauces - peanut and sweet chili. The corn fritters had four servings and despite being fried were perfectly light and combined well with the sweet chili dipping sauce. For mains we had peanut stir fry and a green curry both with organic tofu. The vegetables in both these dishes were extremely fresh and despite there being no meat they were very filling and great value at less than $20 a dish. The green curry had the perfect amount of spice and the sauce was delicious with rice. I usually don't order desserts at Asian restaurants but it's a must at kindness cafe. The dessert roti is served with maple, honey and cinnamon sugar and is great for sharing. My absolute favorite was the black sticky rice with warm coconut milk - superb! Grab yourself some friends and a bottle of wine and head to Kindness cafe for some deliciously fresh Thai food

Really amazing food. Has to be one of the top 3 vegetarian meals I've eaten. We had the spring rolls, cashew chicken stir fry, berry rice, fried seaweed tofu and then some deserts. Everything was insanely good. The service was great. The food was all served at exactly the right temperature and packed with a ton of flavor. Even if you eat meat like I do you will not miss it one bit for this meal. Definitely worth a stop if your in darlinghurst

The foods nice, it feels good eating it like you're getting good karma by enjoying it. It's not the most amazing food, but its quite delicious if you're into all things Vegan. Post dinner head to the theatrette which feels like an extension of Byron Bay. Make yourself comfy on the pillows and lie down and enjoy the experience of taking in a movie whilst lying next to strangers.... in a way it feels like camping and there's something quite communal and warm about the whole experience.... Now you can have a meal or watch a movie separately, but i suggest you do both as that's half the fun. Dinner is $19.80 and a further $10.00 for the movie/dinner package. Movie only tickets are $13.90. Definitely worthwhile trying - could make for an excellent date night.

And it had absolutely no relationship to the food. It was the stools. The red stools that people sit on. And I got word that they were supremely uncomfortable. I didn't follow up on the critique (made by a friend) and in fact forgot about the restaurant altogether. It wasn't until my partner and I happened to be walking around Darlinghurst around dinner time at a later date that I remembered about the comment (which would surely put a black mark on any restaurant's name). And yet, it was delightful. We were the first ones there - so early in fact that we lingered outside like miscreants while the staff were eating their dinner - and avoided the stools altogether, and instead sat at the two person table further toward the kitchen. We ordered the Beijing Dumplings (lamb and vegetarian), the steamed vegetarian buns, hainan chicken rice and the nyonya chicken and potato curry with two pots of brown rice. Mostly everything was outstanding. The only thing that didn't surpass our expectations wildly was the Hainan chicken rice. The rest was so incredibly good that we've gone back twice since (take-away). The staff were also incredibly accommodating and take note that they have a vegetarian menu as well as a Coeliac one. As for those infamous stools, on our last visit there to pick up our take-away we saw Hugo Weaving sitting on one of them at the far end of the communal table eating his dinner. If it's good enough for Hugo Weaving ..

The fresh prawn rice paper rolls with chilli dipping sauce and Beijing vegetarian dumplings are also staples. The Beef Tenderloin Fillet Fry ($20) is tasty but the Mixed Asian Greens ($10) is uninspiring. The menu is a little pricier than you would find elsewhere and you may find yourself leaving still relatively hungry. But if you order more (like I usually do) or come on a night when you are not incredibly hungry to begin with, then the quality of food should impress you. The restaurant is BYO and also has a coeliac friendly gluten-free menu and options for kids. The only issue I have with this place is the menu layout. I think it would be more successful if the dishes had a bit more description in terms of the sauces rather than just the main ingredient.

As soon as we approached the huge red door and glass front of the restaurant, we were impressed with the space they have created and knew we would be in for a treat. The inside features a large and extremely well stocked sparkling clean bar and the venue has exposed brick walls throughout. The center of the restaurant is furnished with a big red velvet couch and various arm chairs that invite you to sit down and enjoy a cocktail in a comfortable setting, while you take in your environment and wind down from the day. The restaurant is gently lit by various caged lights and beautiful arrangement of Eddison bulbs. It only takes moments to forget that you are in Potts Point and feel completely at home in this beautiful space. After being warmly welcomed by Michael and Xenia , we chose to sit down on the previously mentioned red couch and started our night with a couple of cocktails each, while reading through the impressive wine list. Ranging from around $42 per bottle, the wine list contained a beautifully curated selection of wines from all over the world and I am sure there is something on it for everyone and every budget. Once our cocktails arrived, we ordered the Charcuterie board ($18) with some crusty bread, butter, olive oil and balsamic vinegar. The Charcuterie board included a selection of cured meats such as Jamon Serrano, grass fed bresaola, finnochiata, as well as sweet and tangy house made pickles. The serving was extremely generous and the presentation was beautiful. The two cocktails we chose with Xenia's help, perfectly complemented this platter. We had a Garden Pash ($18), which was a combination of gin, lemon and garden juice, which Xenia developed herself and is an interesting mix of cucumber and various herbs and spices. It is a light and bright cocktail with a flavour that keeps you interested. Andrew had the Spicy Passion Margarita ($18) which contained tequila, cointreau, passion fruit, lime, tabasco and jalapeno. Despite initially being unsure how the passion fruit would suit this combination, it was an absolute taste sensation (caution - this one obviously has some genuine bite to it) and perfectly suited the cured meat selection. After that, we were offered a table to continue our meal. Having followed Lot. One for quite some time via social media and having seen some of their meals through the beautiful photos they posted, we had a pretty good idea already what we wanted to try. We started with their whole stuffed squid ($26) which was buttery soft and the smoked red pepper, chorizo, pine nut and parsley filling gave it a delicious rustic yet light flavour. Next up was the Kangaroo Tataki ($24) which was the most tender and beautiful kangaroo dish either one of us had ever tasted. The kangaroo was surrounded by forest berries, native pepper, sunflower seeds and crispy sage leaves. Even thinking about it now, it still makes my mouth water. For our main meal, we both decided to consult their extremely helpful and friendly staff. We decided to share the Half Duck ($50) which arrived on a huge slate plate and was a generous serving, even for two people. The deboned, roasted glazed duck was surrounded by flash fried red grapes, crushed macadamia and a sea of crisp snow pea tendrils. We both really enjoyed it. As we both had our heart set on a dessert (which is actually very unusual for me, Andy even mentioned that he can't remember me ever ordering dessert at a restaurant) we decided to order another cocktail first before we moved on with our meal. After advising the staff of our dessert selection, they suggested the right cocktails to us. Smoked Sanguine ($18) was a sticky sweet delight, which arrived with a cloud of French Oat smoke and the Wake Me Up ($22) was a combination of patron XO café, baileys, coffee liqueur and fresh espresso. The extremely reasonable priced desserts ($14) were an absolute sensation. We chose the Turkish Delight and the Snickers inspired ones and both by far exceeded the high expectations we had after spotting them pass us on their way to other diners tables from the kitchen earlier on. I know this review is ridiculously long, but let it be a testament of how impressed we are with last night and the wonderful experience Xenia, Michael and the team provided us. I am not exaggerating when I say that this was probably one of the most amazing dining experiences we have ever had. We don't often treat ourselves to a night out like this, but next time we do, I am sure this is the place we both will agree we want to revisit. And as a final note: Lot. One also accepts Beam Wallet, which makes dining there even better value. Beam gives you 10% back on all your purchases and if you aren't using Beam already, use Promotion Code: "2011" and receive a $20 bonus to get you started!
