Steamed barbecue bao and spring rolls
    Kate H.

This is an adorable all-vegan yum cha restaurant -- as someone who's vegan it was so fun to be able to have all the options and say yes to any plates that came by our table. Every dish we had (barbecue pork bao, spring rolls, curry puffs, prawn wontons, sausage rolls, barbecue pork squares...) was really yummy. Sit outdoors if you can, that seating is in the park, which is lovely when it's sunny. One thing is that reservations are more or less required, and even when you have one, they cap your time at an hour and fifteen minutes.

Tonight we visited Bodhi again for a tapas feast! The atmosphere at this plant-based restaurant is so beautiful. From the beautiful lighting to the friendly waitstaff, I always feel at home. We started with the chicken skewers, then moved on to the pumpkin dumplings, chicken sliders (Bao), then duck sliders (Bao), and finished with the strawberry cheesecake. You had to roll us out of there, what a feast! I even tried their Princess Sparkle Rainbow Sunshine signature cocktail which was almost too easy to drink up! Thanks again to the team at Bodhi. We'll be back once our bank accounts recover haha

Enduring great dim sum place that is ageless and been around for ages. Come hungry as the offers just keep a coming as the plates are freshly brought out in a good rhythm to keep your palate adventuring. Good wine and beer offerings. Charge per type of plate so you can control how much or little you eat or pay. Outdoor seating is great weather favoring but watch out for the few tables that are more to sun bather liking depending on time of year. Service is good. Interesting that contrary to Australia no tip culture was asked if I desired to add one. Fantastic setting and food, why i make it a must go whenever in Sydney the last decade plus.

Some things are hit or miss. I really enjoyed the chick'n dumplings and the spring rolls. Also be careful of how many yes's you give. The cost can rack up quick. It's nice to be able to say yes to anything coming by though as a vegan. The apple cider is lovely to sip on throughout your dining.

Amazing, amazing! Hiding in a corner very close to St Mary's cathedral. This vegan restaurant has everything to offer and one is really spoilt for choice . The ambience was beautiful with fairy lights and heaters and candles around the outside dining area . We had a variety of the tapas including the shiitake truffle dumplings, betel leaf ( this was very average ). Sweet potato spring rolls were to die for and the fried eggplant for the main was out of this world ! A definite plus for any diners but especially for vegans or plant based customers.

Whilst you "know" this is a vegetarian restaurant, you still question whether you are eating prawn or chicken or pork. It is not quite helped when the waitresses offer prawn dumplings and chicken buns. The food taste is very cleverly done and there is no meat. We had lunch Yum Cha. The website said that you couldn't book but there were tables that were marked reserved and we were even asked if we had a reservation. There were plenty of dishes on offer and they were delicious. Ordering drinks was a bit odd. We worked out there was designated bar staff and food staff so asking food people for drinks causes some confusion. It still worked and we got our drinks.....and they were excellent too.

This all-vegan small plates restaurant boasts an auspicious location at the foot of a cathedral. For lunch at least, the yum cha format entails looking on as various dishes are presented to you, and you pick which ones to keep and eat. I was relatively basic with mine, getting dumplings and spring rolls and tea before finishing up with fried tofu topped with mashed potatoes. I'm not sure where that combo came from, but I'm not complaining. All were good, and I felt bad about passing up on some of the others. Being near the harbor, their outdoor tables were a bit on the windy side; they did have plenty of indoor seating as well. The price was high, but one might expect this all things considered, and I was happy enough to have found in the heart of Sydney something I really wanted to eat.

This is one of those epic food places that you must go to, even if you aren't vegetarian. It's great for people who can't have dairy or gluten which made me very happy. The outside is enchanting with fairy lights on the trees and a purple light cascading across the bamboo. We shared the mushroom dumplings, the sweet potatoes spring rolls, the fried eggplant and the wasabi taro chips. I loved all of those dishes and can't wait to try more!

Vegan yum Cha. The traditional way! This is such a treat for vegans. Each time I'm in Sydney I make sure to get to Bodhi. Get there early and treat it as a brunch. You won't have a problem finding a table. Careful on what you order though. We ate too much and couldn't make it to dessert! If you are really craving something let them know. They will get to your table first that way. I've found if you are too quiet you miss the good dishes and are left with the cold boring dishes. Generally anything fried is amazing and anything 'prawn'. The fried wantons are a must try treat with extra sauce. If you see something covered in sesame seeds looking like a spring roll, grab it! For the perfect dessert get the custard doughnuts. Hang around for long enough and all the dessert trays will do the rounds. Attentive service, amazing food and a fun experience. Don't miss Bodhi, even if you're not veg/vegan!

My wife and I (and now our kids) love this place. Great surroundings (sitting in the park) and, as a vegetarian family we love the fact that we can eat anything on the menu! Everything is good, but the carrot and ginger dumplings are a family fave! Juices are great, although we generally just stick with the jasmine tea. Highly recommended - Bodhi is on our regular Sydney rotation!

By far my favourite Vegan restaurant in Sydney! Bodhi is hidden underneath the swimming pool and you'd probably never know it was there unless someone told you - and now that you're in the know you should definitely check it out! Why do I love this place (besides the fact that I can eat everything on the menu) it's because the food tastes amazingly fresh and healthy! Their restaurant is basically a Yum Cha for people who don't want to eat meat and to compensate they've made everything delicious. There's no menu to order from (except drinks) as the lovely staff walk by one bye one offering you a wide variety of dumplings, asian vegies, noodles and buns. Everything is delicious! So I recommend it all! I think its best to head here with your friends and share a few of the dished... its so good you will want to keep coming back. Great service, great food - i'm a fan!

I'm from the United States and I was visiting Sydney for spring break. I don't usually expect much for options that cater to my dietary limitations when I'm on the move, but this restaurant exceeded my expectations. The food was very fresh and tasty! The restaurant itself is cute, even if it is a little difficult to find at first. Next time I'm in Sydney, I'm definitely coming back. I recommend for health conscious travelers!

I was meeting some school friends for lunch, it was a sunny day and we had vegetarian's in our midst. I could sense them. We decided to go to Bodhi, right next door to St Mary's Cathedral, a vegetarian Yum Cha Restaurant. With its views of the park and distance from traffic, it made for a peaceful location to chat, recant old anecdotes and dine on delicious high quality vegetable dim sims and spring rolls. It looked like rain, so we sat inside. Usually it's ideal to be seated on the walkway, the soft buzz of traffic in the distance and the gentle flopping of the water fountain floating over your heads as you eat, and even though they do have umbrella's we decided not to risk a wet gow gee. We ordered our wantons and our dumplings and drank our green tea and water, our bicycles parked against a metal railing up toward William Street. One of the actors from 'Rush' walked past outside and took a seat as he adjusted something in his back pack. We spent twenty minutes trying to work out who he was until we came to the rush realisation, but it was too late, he was already gone. It's a tranquil restaurant, a fancy restaurant and a really delicious one. Suitable for vegetarians and carnivores alike. (Note: My mouth is watering as I write this.)

Iku Wholefood is a chain of 12 stores scattered throughout Sydney offering healthy but delicious vegan food. It's popular across the board, not just with the vegan crowd, which is a testament to how delicious it is. Iku has a wide variety of food options crammed into a tiny food-court space. Their display counter includes a dizzying array of sweet treats like cookies, pastries, and muffins, as well as savoury snacks like nori rolls, polenta and couscous slices, rice balls, millet balls, etc. And that's just their display counter. Their full menu itself includes pies, salad plates with a variety of mix-and-match options, lasagne, casseroles, curries, and soups. By far my favorite thing on the menu is the macroburger. It's described as "a tofu fritter served on a steamed wholemeal bun spread with tahini sauce, topped with leafy green salad and Iku salad dressing." I don't normally like tofu but this is crazy delicious and unrecognisable as anything tofu-y. I seriously fantasise about biting into a delicious Iku macroburger while I'm on the flight over to Sydney because I'm filled with giddy expectation and I know it'll be the first thing I eat when I land. You can also get the mildly healthier macrobiotic wrap, which contains the same ingredients as the macroburger, just in wrap form and with slightly more greens. Note that both of these are a bit messy to eat, so probably not best to take into a lunch meeting with important executives. That and you'll rudely inhale it because it's so delicious. I also enjoy the Iku pies (filled with beans, chickpeas, lentils, veggies, etc.), sweet treats (I've had their muffins and a couple of cookies -- delicious), and nori rolls (the sauce is amazing). Everything tastes so fresh and innovative. The only thing that didn't wow me was the lasagne. I felt it was a bit bland. I haven't tried any of the casseroles, curries, or soups yet. They also do breakfast, which I haven't tried either. This Iku is located in the MLC Centre, which is the funny round UFO-shaped building on the south side of Martin Place -- you can't miss it. Just walk into the food court and Iku is near the entrance on your right. Because this is a food court in the middle of the CBD, seating is scarce between 12pm and 2pm. If you want to find a seat, go early for lunch (around 11am -- the benefit there is you can ogle all the gorgeous young tradies eating their lunches -- oh sorry off-topic), or go after 2pm. Or just get take-out and bring it back to your desk. There are 11 other locations around the CBD and nearly all of them get amazing reviews, so definitely check this chain out :) I wish they had them in Melbourne!!

The restaurant gives off Singapore Hawker vibes, but the Mixed Satay and the Mee Goreng are skippable. Pass on these items: 1. Mixed Satay - The beef satay was not fully cut and was difficult to bite off the skewer. The chicken satay was easier to eat, but lacked the satay element. The peanut dipping sauce was delicious and chunky. 2. Mee Goreng - hard pass - The noodles were somewhat cold despite taking the longest to bring to our table. The entire dish didn't seem fresh and lacked flavor. Definite must: 1. Roti Tisu - 11/5 - This was unique, flaky, crispy, sweet, and fun to eat. I highly recommend getting it with ice cream and eaten for dessert. In between the layers of roti is sprinkled sugar. Ending our dinner with Roti Tisu makes up for the Mee Goreng. 2. Roti Canai - 5/5 - Fluffy and crispy roti dipped in curry and beans. Ultimate comfort food.

I am the furthest from a vegetarian that you could get (I had ribs for lunch today,) so I was pretty skeptical about how a veggie burger would taste...my skepticism was unfounded because I have to admit it was a pretty good burger. I ordered an original Big Burger meal with no mustard and soy bacon. I thought blasphemy, bacon cannot be soy...but I was the blasphemous one for doubting the Lord (of the Fries.) For the fries I had the original fries (chunky + sweet potato available,) ordered Belgian mayo and Vietnamese mayo (spicy chili) on the side. The Belgian mayo was alright, but the Vietnamese mayo was bomb.com. The fries are double cooked and definitely some of the better fries I've had in Sydney...my favourite fries have been from Ogalo's, but Lord of the Fries gives it a run for its money...I will need to do some more taste testing with their other sauces. If you've been to America, I'd say that Lord of the Fries reminds me of a vegetarian Five Guys since the fries are very similar in taste and quality (minus Cajun fries) and they both offer burgers and hot dogs. The nostalgia may have influenced my review a bit...so take that into consideration. If you don't want to wait in a queue for a super long time, go in the arvo or after their official launch on Aug. 29th. Praise the Lord (of the Fries!!!) ***Update: I went again to try their hot dogs and ordered the Chicago dog. If you're a fan of hot dogs and a carnivore I would skip the hot dog and get the burger, it tastes bland and it's a bit "off," most likely missing the meat taste.
