Really good vegetarian cafe with great breakfast options. The prices weren't so bad either. I came both on a weekend and a weekday morning and the place was busy both times. I don't believe the cafe is wheelchair accessible given the layout and steps. I tried the both the Badde Manors Big Breakfast and the vegan breakfast. I have no idea if they were close to being faithful to a traditional full breakfast in Australia but I enjoyed them without preferring the vegetarian version (which featured eggs and haloumi) over the vegan (featured avocado) even though I love eggs and cheese. I am finally visiting Badde manors on a beautiful Saturday morning. This eclectic vegetarian restaurant is an apparent neighbourhood staple and much larger than you imagine. I've been by literally everyday since i've moved to Glebe on the bus or on foot. I'm sitting in the back sun conservatory at a marbled french bistro table for two. I must say that the decor is a little run down, cracked tile, dirty walls with hundreds of musical/theaterical posters on the wall - dust on the flight fixtures. But what Badde Manors lacks in appearance makes up for in customer service and quality vegetarian food - which might I add arrived incredibly fast. I like that i had table service here when so very few cafes offer it. I wanted to get the poached eggs on a corn fritter but unfortunately they were out of the fritter so I had em' put it on toast instead. Beautiful hollandaise sauce and combo fresh and grilled tomato with steamed spinach....I wanted seconds :) I wish there were more vegetarian restaurants in Glebe amongst the twenty dozen cafes and bars. It is apparant that the people want this food! I especially rarely order ham or sausage with breakkie and so I can't wait to come back and try other options! read more

Although Badde Manors does generally have, true to its name, bad manors, I still find my way back to this place time and time again. It might be because of the delicious toasted bagels I love so much or the seductively tempting desert menu filled with ricotta cannoli, triple chocolate mud cake and sticky date pudding. Once we waited over an hour and a half for our food because our waiter took the order home with her when she clocked off at the end of her shift. There were no apologies and no offers of a deducted bill or free desert at the end of the meal. Another time I waited over 40 minutes for my bagel and it came out charred to the end of the earth. I was on a lunch break and didn't have time to wait another 40 minutes so I got a refund and left. These little mishaps keep me from being a regular at Badde Manors but aren't enough to keep me away for good. If you are a vegetarian Badde Manors is definitely a place you should visit. It's a great spot for eavesdropping on crazy conversations, and, as others have said, the chai is not to be missed. Stayed nearby in Chippendale and popped over to Glebe for coffee and cake. A nice surprise to find a vegetarian cafe doing simple meals so beautifully. We came back for dinner the next night and enjoyed the falafel plate and the eggplant schnitzel. Both were huge servings at great prices. The staff are super efficient, friendly and I've never waited longer than 10 minutes for a meal, even when the place is packed. Badde Manors is a vegetarian's happy place. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, the solely vegetarian cafe offers a really good selection of meat-free meals. My favourites are the Lentil Burger (with both aioli and hommous, big enough to share between two), the Vegie Nachos (the small serve of which is also big enough for two), the Haloumi Bagel and the toasted Pumpkin & Feta Focaccia. Ooh, and the Vegie Lasagne, Mediterranean Platter, Antipasto Platter and Eggplant Schnitzel rank pretty highly. Oh, and the Tajine. Actually, now that I'm thinking about it, pretty much everything on their menu is enticing. A fair few of the meals can be made vegan as well, and all eggs are free-range. As a non-meat eater, it's reassuring to know that it's impossible for meat to make it anywhere near your plate. Also, it's extra nice to know that you can order absolutely anything off the menu. And, for the carnivores, it's nice to realise that a meal without meat can not only fill you up, but can be delicious! Whilst I've heard that Badde Manors can occasionally live up to its name, I've never received the kind of service it once was infamous for. In saying that, hostility clearly rises when the boss enters the building. On busy days this is less noticeable, as all the customers are too busy enjoying their food to pick up on the slightly uncomfortable working environment. The coffee isn't fantastic (especially with the heavy Glebe Point Rd coffee competition) but a few of their other drinks more than make up for this. Badde Manors is famed for the best chai tea in Glebe (made with rosewater and fresh ginger) and the most refreshing summer drink comes in the form of an icy apple-mint frappe. Furthermore, the desserts at Badde Manors are perfect for a late night, post-cinema treat (or post-breakfast dessert). Open seven days a week to midnight or later, Badde Manors claims to be one of the few "true" cafes still around in Sydney's inner suburbs. It's been about 30 years since this neighborhood establishment opened its doors and it still is a popular place to gather. It is so cozy inside that I could spend hours sipping on hot chocolates and sampling their awesome list of desserts. They have some hot drinks I haven't seen in a café before like the Indonesian Sorbat Susu (milk spiced with zingy fresh ginger) and the Turkish Sahleb (milk with rosewater, honey, and cinnamon). Even if you're a regular coffee drinker, I ask you to sacrifice your caffeine fix to try these warm mugs of goodness. Also, they have their own blend of Chai Tea that is heavenly. Or just allocate the caffeine to your desserts, specifically the homemade tiramisu. Not only would I come here to drink or satisfy my sweet tooth, but also to check out the walls covered in flyers for local events, festivals, or art classes. Step one: order a soy chai with honey Step two: take a seat at one of their outdoor tables Step three: listen for the shrill, scattered waitress to call "chai" out onto the patio Step four: pour chai into your cup (don't forget strainer) and top cup off with more honey than you probably should Step five: sip and enjoy There is something about the spice and the silky milk that round this drink off magically. Pros: Great Chai, took me back to Byron! Excellent selection of cakes, great cosy atmosphere for a chat or book read. Can get quite busy, so it doesn't see to be a struggling business. Food quality is great, I had the apple and rhubarb crumble with ice cream. Established in 1982, Badde Manors café has been an institution since before I was a baby hippy on a mission for a soy chai after the Glebe Markets. It still has a hippy-ish kind of vibe but seems to be more of a student hangout now than it used to be. The food has always been superb here, with something for everyone - vegans, glutos, master-cleansers - I'm sure Mariah Carey could get a bowl of blue M & Ms if she asked for them. I hadn't been here in a few years and I swear when I read the menu I could taste the tofu burger with satay sauce that I used to be soooo addicted to. The fact that this was the first place my friend and I came up with to meet amongst all the fancy new eateries on the urbane foodie strip of Glebe Point Rd is testament to what a staple Badde Manors is. I was devastated that I wasn't hungry on my recent visit but my soy chai was a delicious blast from the past as I drooled over the amazing menu, and the outdoor tables are perfect for freak, I mean people-watching. This is one of my favourite places to go for a late night snack. The baked italian ricotta cheesecake is good, with cream and ice cream and keeps my wife wanting more and me stealing mouthfuls from her plate. But if you're around here in the morning this vegetarian cafe does a good veggie breakkie and a special Mediterranean breakfast too complete with olives, haloumi cheese and chargrilled veggies. The good thing late at night is that most of the weekend and daytime crowd have gone home and you can just relax with a friend and enjoy glebe, while sitting at one of the outdoor tables. read more

The mushrooms on toast - with lashings of ricotta, tomato slices and a not-so-subtle touch of garlic - was delicious, and will have me coming back for more vegetarian/vegan meals. Make sure you grab a table outside as the ambiance inside does seem a little bit dreary with the crowded pew-like chairs. This place has a really nice, friendly vibe to it. I like going to Badde Manors after having dinner elsewhere in glebe, and sitting and having a delicious chia latter (REAL CHIA!) and one of their many yummy desserts. In terms of the menu, the food is all vegan, so there isn't a lot of choice for those non-vegans, and the coffee is average. I cannot recommend this place enough, their food is utterly incredible, the staff are a delight. Their hot apple (non alcoholic) cider at any time of the day is like heaven in your mouth. Their coffee is great quality and the atmosphere is superb! Their vegetarian breakfast broke me as a human, their platters are divine and I could eat their stuffed capsicums every day for the rest of my life.
