I LOVE this restaurant. My husband showed me this restaurant a few years on my birthday. Now it's a tradition to go every year on my birthday. I always get the same thing--the hibachi with filet mignon and fried rice. It's ALWAYS good. And the YumYum sauce is to die for. Food and service were excellent. When it came time to pay the check I tipped my usual 20% on the total check. The server was very honest and brought the check back to me and showed that they had already added 18% to the check because of another large party that was sitting at our table. Sad to say I won't be coming back. I've been coming here religiously for the past 5 years and ever since the restaurant changed owners the last 4 visits have all been terrible!!! Was told that the same chef (Jay?) that I specifically asked not to cook for us, who believes that two times the butter every other chef there uses equates to better food, and makes uncomfortable jokes toward me and my SO would be cooking. I was here for a friend's birthday the other night. G-unit was our hibachi chef. He was great and very funny.

Just been there and I got totally disappointed in the service ,I have been there at least 6times in the past 2 to 3 years and the service got from 5 stars to nearly 1 star even that was to generous Let me start with that my wife and I went there the place was not full but the hostesses were acting busy had to wait to wipe the table and then she forget about us and took other people in while we were standing in front of her not mentioning that their attire in some leg-ins-that they where so tights that you could count the rolls with long trad locks hear hanging to waist lent and flying around. I wanted to be served faster so I didn't choose the hibachi grill I get the table they called it booth that was put in the path had to wait over 6minute to have a waiter to stop and ask me if I want a drink meanwhile I had to see some clients at the table in front of me the close falling of her and could tell the brand of bra and size she was wearing, and listening to a loud grill master mucking the Japanese language with his strong patua dialect and act like he is from Japan that can be seen on his skin, so that I had to wait for the food to arrive ( I THINK IT CAME FROM KYOTO ) and I had an order to go that I placed at the beginning and after I finished my dinner I still had to wait for that food to come until I waived for the manager to tell me where is the food My last time there , they can niponise-jamaicanise that place read more

Too expensive for families! We always enjoyed family celebrations at Kimura but lately their prices have greatly increased. Kids meals for us were $12.95 and $10.95 and that didn't include the apple juices which were $7 for 2. Wow! With the tip and tax added that is almost $20 per child. I guess that's why I didn't see many families in there. I will be checking out other hibachi restaurants in the area that I have heard are more family friendly. Unless you order Hibachi I doubt you'll get service . Customer service here is awful . Not one single person working here pays any attention other than the one blonde bartender , she was the only thing or person who paid us any attention. Was here twice in one day the first time we left after 20 min of waiting for service to go pick up the kids and then we cam back with the kids and once again the only person who assisted us and finally took our order was the bartender Alisha . When the food finally did come out our main course came out first and 20 min later our appetizer of edamame finally came. Everything was all put of order. Tons of employees are roaming around completely clueless like they are under hypnosis and just goofy . Dont know what they are doing pay attention to your o one just clean clean clean up the finished parts tables. Completely oblivious to anything or anyone else going on in the restaurant. It was literally unbelievable. I watched one goofy server make 5 trips to a table and do 2 spin around not sure how or which way he was going to go about cleaning a table mean while me and my family are just sitting right by him waiting for someone or anyone to bring us some soy sauce and dipping cups for our edamame. I will say the food was pretty good What a disappointment though and good food will never compensate for the bad taste this restaurants customer service experience has left it was both times coming here today and I highly doubt we will be here again for a third visit . We used to love coming here. Good food, great atmosphere and service. Ownership changed in the past year or so and it has gone downhill. The overly loud techno music playing was too much. We had to wait around 15-20 minutes to be seated because they didn't have enough menus. Even after we were seated a server took a menu for another table. The soup tasted like straight chicken broth with no attempt to add flavor. The salad was drowned in ginger sauce. They seemed to have a shortage of chefs as the waitress asked us to be patient and wait until a chef was free. The chef was nice but off his game, tricks and entertainment were weak. I have truthfully gone to Kimura approximately 8 times. More often than not, an incident occurs that turns me off from this establishment. After what occurred tonight, I can no longer recommend this restaurant to anyone. Sawa & Saito's have MUCH better constumer service and also, the food is better in my honest opinion. This point of this review is to point out the negative aspects of this establishment in hopes they will improve and be worth trying once more. A few months ago a simple Takeout order for Hibachi didn't include a single order of the fried rice that was of course requested when the order was placed. Whomever was in charge at the time of making to-go orders forgot to place the fried rice containers into my Takeout bag. I know this because when I called about the situation, the manager informed me that is what happened and that they would, "give me free fried rice with my next to-go order." Thanks a lot (sarcasm). My second isssue with this restaurant was more recent (last week to be exact). Attempting to dine-in with my girlfriend led to us being informed they were full and the next booth would be ours if we waited 10 min for the empty booth to be cleaned. The host was a very friendly high school- aged male and sat us in the waiting area. About 15 minutes later we noticed a booth had been emptied, cleaned and, had new patrons sitting In it. When I asked the host why they sat first he said he honestly didn't know and they must have "called ahead". He said just give it 5 more minutes and you'll sit next. We waited a total of 30 minutes and watched ANOTHER couple get seated once again in front of us. After this we left and went to Saito's angered by what had occurred. This wasn't any type of discrimination or profiling, it was clerical errors related to being unorganized and not paying attention to those who had been waiting. A REAL disappointment. Finally, my third and final strike with this establishment is when I called today at 10:22pm and was immediately placed on hold by the female in the other line before even speaking, she asked what I needed politely and I asked for a takeout order to be placed. She said one moment and then got back in the phone and said verbatim, No, sorry we're closed now." I said you close at 11pm it's on your site and the front door of the restaurant and you're still open for another 40 minutes. She said, "no more orders, sorry, goodbye." JUST LIKE THAT. I'm not kidding. This place just lost my business along with my family's business who have eaten here quite often. I'm VERY disappointed by the treatment and downright laziness shown by the staff. Serious training should be implemented and the customer should n be made to feel stupid for ordering 45 minutes prior to closing or be made to wait for 30 minutes when adequate seating is available. These mistakes along with forgetting simple items in my to-go order for a very pricey establishment is why I will choose to take my business elsewhere from now on. Thank you. read more

Just got back from a birthday dinner here....and snooze! To start the waitress rushed out party to order, literally sat down and a second later I was rushed to order my food. I didn't want hibachi I was literally there to see my friend, but it was either pay $8 or just order hibachi. I had the avocado salad and the avocado was old, dark and a mess. It said it had crab, um negative. I then decided to order the swordfish with no rice just veggies. The cook was boring, no jokes, basic egg trick and tapping of the knives , I do better tricks at home. He barely gave me any veggies, my friend gave me some of hers and the fish was dry and over-cooked. I would not recommend this place, there are better hibachi places out there. My husband has been dying to go here since we moved to Boynton, I'm honestly glad we never been. I'm giving this place 2 stars, the water was good and the birthday song they sing with the drums was cool. Zero stars for the food. read more

My first time in at Kimura, The food wasn't that great, it was less than good. I had the gyoza appetizer it was way to over cooked and crunchy I literally had to use a knife to cut it open. For sushi I had the aurora roll no corn flakes at all, and way too much rice. The volcano roll, was okay I like spicy food but not when your coughing. I then had the Kimura roll which was recommended by the waitress way too much cream cheese. The menu needs a major overhaul. The waitress appeared nice but snatched my checkbook away like I wasn't welcome and needed to leave. I'll take my business elsewhere. read more

Today after we ordered they informed us that they are out of Gluten Free Soy Sauce and will not be getting it again. Unfortunately all 8 of us had to excuse ourselves and go elsewhere. My boyfriend and I used to come here once a week. The last two times we went before taking a 6+ month hiatus, Jay was our hibachi chef. While hibachi-ing, he FLIRTS with the women at the table even if they are accompanied by boyfriends. He POKES FUN at the men of the table especially if they are with their girlfriends. I find this HIGHLY uncomfortable. In addition to making me and my boyfriend uncomfortable, he also uses so much butter I can taste it in the rice, steak, and shrimp. Last night we went back, specifically asked the host NOT to have Jay. The host sits us then goes directly to Jay to tell him (awkward and unprofessional). We sit for about 30 minutes until the manager comes along telling us that they only have two chefs. Mind you, we've already ordered, and ate our soup and salad. Points to the chef that JUST started cooking and said that we would have to wait for him OR we can have our food made in the back and we can be served where we're sitting. Why would we want to sit at the hibachi table after the chef KNOWS we do not like him and then be served separately??? Why wouldn't they just shuffle people around so that we could have the other chef?? We walked out and had to get takeout. Absolutely unacceptable. Kimura ruined our night. Kimura Steakhouse is one of my very favorite restaurants. It is a family owned restaurant and they treat customers as if they are family as well. The bartenders, Bonnie and Danny are amazing they always take care of my boyfriend and I. If your looking for a fun and great entertainment, sit with g-unit and you won't stop laughing all night. The owner, Sue is one of the nicest people that you will ever meet, she will accommodate any need that you have. I brought a party of 40 people for my birthday and everyone loved the place. Everytime I walk in the door, everyone is happy to see us. Oh and the food is amazing! The service is perfect and the atmosphere is always a good time! read more

This place used to be 5 stars for me.. Prices and food were top-notch. The last 6 times we have gotten the same chef, chef honda. Every time he cooks the food has been bland had zero flavor and is always incorrect. He rushes through the dinner causing mistakes. I can be understanding with covid and restrictions and especially short staffing. On the 3rd visit, I did talk to the manager who was accomodating and comped our meal, but I can't be the person who complains every time just for free horrible food and has made excuses the other times about an off night and it will be better next time. However, this last time(the 6th time in a row received chef honda) was exceptionally worse and we will not be returning. $100 for a meal for two... They upcharge for fried rice, which is understandable, but the rice we were served was bland and tasted like white rice, and the rice itself was hard as a rock---which is perplexing because it's precooked before reaching the serving cart, hardly any seasoning was added, the vegetables were also undercooked. These are things one can easily look past. I have an allergy to scallops. This was told to both the server and the chef. When the chef came out to cook our meal, my steak was forgotten, no big deal as he got an additional steak and cooked it promptly when he realized it was missing. The steak was then cooked where the scallops were cooked and covered in lemon juice. I had a severe allergic reaction after eating just one bite and got violently ill. I am fully aware that this is a risk I take while eating out, but in my four years of going there at least once a month if not more, this type of experience has never happened. Unfortunately, it is not getting better as time goes on. Just order the white rice if you're getting meals from chef Honda as it tastes the same and save yourself the money. The portions will also be dispursed incorrectly in large parties, so combination plates will be skimped anyways. My fiance always orders no veggies double fried rice... our rice portions of rice end up being the same size, and yes they still charge him double for bland hard rice.. read more
