I haven't been to Kimura in years. It seems like it's under new ownership as a few things have changed. I noticed that the prices are significantly higher than other habachi places. Walking in, they wouldn't seat us until our entire party was there. When we got our entire party, they walked us to a table and handed us menus. One person in our party ordered a drink and didn't realize how huge it was. It may have been a misunderstanding on this person's end but the drink menu should specify that it's coming out in a fish bowl size glass. When we got to our entrees, the server didn't ask for our temperature on steak items. Turns out the chef asks when he gets to us. I had a child with me who just wanted habachi fried rice and the server told me I wasn't able to order it like that since he wasn't ordering an entree. Was confused and went back and forth with each other. We had to skip him and place an extra order of fried rice on my order. Isn't that the same thing? Soup and salad came out - both great. The sauces (yum yum and ginger sauce) - the ginger sauce tasted different than the typical. The chef had cooked all of our food in a timely manner but I felt like the order was off. We received our vegetables almost last. I thought it should've came after the rice. I don't think we would go back anytime soon. read more

The 4 star are for our waitress Kate who was one of the most extraordinary waitress we have ever encountered. Her warmth, attentiveness and professionalism made this experience a memorable one. 2 stars would go for the overall meal. The decor is somewhat dated but ok for a night out during the week but not one that I would go to for a romantic or special event unless you want the usual Hibachi show. We chose the regular booth seating. I can say that the prices are high for the quality and taste of the items we ordered. We had the gyoza for starters; they were ok, nothing to say wow about. My partner ordered the chicken/shrimp stir fry: his take on it was okay for flavors; again nothing to be excited about compared to other stir fry meals from elsewhere. I had the hibachi scallops. They give you a lot of scallops, more then any other place I've had overseas and various places in the US. The scallops were big and juicy but nothing special in flavor. The order came with fried rice that I would give 2 stars. There were clumps of white rice dispersed throughout the rice, not a good thing. The mixed vegetables I received were ok ; they were on the cold side temperature wise. If you're expecting tea you would find brewed at other Thai or Chinese restaurants, don't. My mistake for assuming so. I got a pot of hot water with a green tea bag. For dessert, we had the Thai donuts. I was disappointed with their texture and the condensed milk that came with it for dipping was not the highest quality not the ones I've had in NY or San Francisco. Overall ok place to go for ordering from the regular menu. We did not do the Hibachi meal with the chef and the tricks. Again to summarize ok meal but nothing to rave about. read more

Horrible experience celebrating my daughter's 10th birthday. When we arrived, I told the hostess it was her birthday and asked if they could bring a dessert and sing Happy Birthday. They assured me everything was taken care of. After we finished eating, our table was cleared and nothing happened. No dessert and no birthday moment. I had to go back to the hostess stand twice before someone finally came over. Eventually staff came to sing Happy Birthday, but there was still no dessert or candle for my daughter to blow out. When I spoke to the male manager, he became argumentative, talked over me, blamed me for the situation, and escalated the conversation instead of de-escalating it. Instead of helping, I felt like I had to defend myself while explaining what had happened. The female manager said it was normal for them to sing Happy Birthday without dessert first, and then bring dessert later so families can do the candle moment privately. In the end, they finally admitted there was confusion because they thought I had brought my own cake, even though I had already picked the dessert beforehand. There was no sincere apology. The only thing offered was "don't worry, we won't charge you for the dessert." But I was never looking for free food. I just wanted a memorable birthday moment for my daughter. My daughter only turns 10 once. What upset me most was that instead of helping fix the situation, the male manager escalated it to the point where I felt like I had to defend my point rather than being helped. read more

Originally had intended to go out somewhere else but my 4year old daughter excitedly wanted to go out 'to the place with all the tricks and fire' for our mother daughter date. We live across the street from saitos but I figured I'd take the extra drive over to Kimura since we have had a good experience there in the past and the ambience is nicer. We were able to be sat right away. My daughter ordered chocolate milk, and the waitress said they didn't have any but suggested a lemonade. (Only later came to find out that wasn't included in her meal as a soda or juice would have been, and was an additional $5) Then when the chef came out, he didn't do any tricks. Didn't try to engage or talk. Just cooked the food and left before even cleaning up: then when someone else at our table complained to the waitress, she sent over the manager who then came back to just give a blanket 'how was everything, alright?' Then walked away. When the server came back the other people at our table were upset the manager didn't acknowledge what they had shared, I agreed with them and backed them up, and so the server sent the manager back. She knelt down and told my daughter who was sad that there was no tricks, that they don't all know how to do everything and they are still learning and she would talk to him. They she sent the chef out to talk to my daughter awkwardly while my daughter told him she was disappointed but to 'keep practicing.' They gave us 10% off the bill which honestly felt like the most insulting part. 18% gratuity is automatically applied. We crave this for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Their fried rice is something people write love poems about - it is THAT good (it's probably the lbs. of butter they use but that is beside the point). I usually get the filet mignon and shrimp hibachi, but I've also tried their scallops and they are surprisingly great as well! Their portion sides are enough for lunch the next day (big plus!) and I love the entertainment from their hibachi chefs. Whether you're having a date night, celebrating a special occasion, or just trying to strength out some sweatpants with a good meal, this place is great for any occasion! We dined at Kimura in Boynton Beach last night to celebrate our daughter's graduation, as she had a craving for hibachi. We told our waitress we were celebrating a graduation. We were a group of 5, and there were other 3 people at our table. We've been there many times before, they have been at that location for many years. It's been a while since we were there but never had a disappointing experience. Unfortunately, our experience yesterday was quite underwhelming. We arrived for our 5 PM reservation, were seated right away and asked for our drink and appetizer orders. Fantastic, great start. We ordered spicy tuna rolls (they had a special BOGO on selected rolls) and crab croquettes, both of which were enjoyable. Their special last night, the lollipop lamb chops. They were excessively fatty and gristly, making them nearly inedible--I ended up taking them home and giving them to my dog. While the rice was fantastic, the veggies were a bit undercooked. Steak and shrimp had great flavor although very skimpy on the steak. With a specialty combination dinner the steak amount was maybe slightly over 1 oz and shrimp maybe 2oz....the chicken was overcooked and chewy. What stood out most was the rushed service; our appetizers, soup, and salad all arrived simultaneously, making us feel hurried. We were in and out in just an hour, which detracted from the celebratory atmosphere we were hoping for. Our chef was very bland, we were admiring the chef at the next table that provided the hibachi experience as it should be. They were also celebrating a graduation, and the chef went out of his way to make it special for the graduate . We got none of that. We made reservations for Mother's Day and we really enjoyed ourselves. I always get margaritas everywhere - the one here was pretty good. I had two! Service is fast and friendly. Even in such a busy night everyone was very friendly. Our chef was funny and entertaining. The food is pretty much what you expect from a Hibachi grill. I was disappointed that the meal didn't come with the shrimp appetizer I usually get at other places. I would come again if I'm feeling up to hibachi. Next time I'll try the sushi. read more

I placed an order for take away since the restaurant seems to be full daily. I got the shrimp and chicken, both were cooked perfectly. My only point of contention is that the combo meal didn't include soup and salad which is common from Japanese steakhouses. For $35 I thought these would be included. A pretty good steakhouse with some great hibachi food! I will say this place was ridiculously warm inside, which I get there's a bunch of hibachi seating but they should add a couple of fans or lower the AC for sure. The staff was super friendly and our waitress was very quick with getting our drink and food orders. We didn't wait long whatsoever because of how prompt she was. The drink we got was super strong and it better have been for the price tag! Our hibachi cook was super friendly and insanely skilled with the little tricks and jokes he was doing! I was laughing my butt off with some stuff! The food was cooked to perfection and the steak and chicken combination I had was insanely large, kinda pricey so it was justified. The rice could've been cooked a little more because it was a little tough still but the sauces made up for it! The entire place was super nicely themed and they have a ton of nice decorations and TVs to look at while you eat. Went by to try the hibachi dinner tonight. We were seated almost immediately after we entered the restaurant. A friendly lady greeted us, asked if wanted to do the hibachi (to which we said yes) then got menus and showed us to the grill tables. There were 2 parties at the table. Each hibachi table can seat 10 people. We went here around 5pm ish on a Wednesday night. There werent too many people in the restaurant when we arrived. Hibachi was pretty standard. They took your order, (we party of 3 all got chicken) and asked what we wanted to drink (all ice waters). The chef is very funny. He did the usual fire around the grill to get the party started. Tossing eggs in shells around and cracking them on the cook tool. He even put one of the eggs he was tossing in his shirt pocket! Ha! Order of food came out like this: soup, salad w/ginger dressing, any food you ordered outSIDE of hibachi menu (we got an eel roll) and then hibachi items. Hibachi items in order is: rice, veggies, protein. Rice is very standard teriyaki sauce and egg with rice. Texture of rice is okay. Not too hard. Not too soft. Grilled hibachi veggies were decent as well. No taste except for a little salty. The chicken was overcooked. Very dry and not that much flavor. You gotta dip it in the ginger sauce they give you in order for it to taste like anything... kind of disappointing tbh. We didn't order dessert since it was already too much food for us anyways. Overall a chill and very casual place. The smell is kind musty in here for some reason.. I would recommend this place for their hibachi experience and quick service. Next time I come, I'll try hibachi w/shrimp. Hopeful it'll not be as dry as the chicken. read more

We've been loyal patrons of Kimora for over 25 years--long before most of the current management or staff were likely even around. What was once a favorite, reliable spot has sadly deteriorated, and it's been disappointing to witness the decline. During our recent visit, we encountered several issues that reflect how far the experience has fallen. The bartender flatly told us, "We don't have the bento box," even though we knew it was available. When we pointed that out, he clarified it's only offered for takeout orders. We were then told we'd have to order it ourselves via our phones--while seated at the bar, no less. This kind of dismissive interaction is not what we remember from the service Kimora used to be known for. To make matters worse, the hostess didn't greet us or make any effort to be welcoming--something we've noticed on multiple visits recently. There's been a clear decline in both hospitality and attentiveness. It's frustrating, especially as we've tried to be patient and give the place chances to improve. Even gently spoken to management to give helpful feedback Kimora once stood out for its service, quality, and warmth. Now, it feels like a shadow of its former self, and unfortunately, management seems unaware--or uninterested--in addressing the changes that have alienated long-time guests. First time at Kimura and in the beginning I was a little worried as we were sat at a table without any other guests we were waiting for the possibility of other people arriving which was about 30-45 minutes until we had a full table. We were a little frustrated that they did that but once there was enough people at our table we were finally able to begin ordering. The meal was good typical hibachi meal our cook was entertaining and got us served rather quickly. The rice and shrimp I had were good however the I feel like the veggies were neglected and ended up being over cooked. Our main waiter however was hard to find as myself along with the rest of the table couldn't get him to refill drinks. We had a 7:30 reservation but couldn't be seated until the entire party arrived. We waited at the bar and ordered the signature old fashion and a shot of tequila. We were seated at 8pm but the chef didn't arrive until 8:40. The chef was skilled and had a great sense of humor. I ordered the shrimp and chicken hibachi, and everything was good except the chicken. It was dry and hard to chew/ swallow. The major reason for my 3 stars is because the women restroom was disgusting. Toilets clogged in 2 stalls, which was enough to make you lose your appetite, and the 1 working stall couldn't flush. I was disgusted and rushed out. The customer service was the best part. Like the nearby mall and most things in Boynton, Kimura has gone downhill in the last few years, but it's a birthday tradition for my son so here we are. The group of teen servers and bussers standing around the hostess stand BS'ing with one another was annoying but not particularly troublesome. The fact that while I was waiting, the kitchen staff got an Uber Eats delivery gave me a bit of pause but bravely we decided to soldier on... One good thing about Kimura is that if you're doing teppanyaki (what most call hibachi) they won't seat you until your whole party is present. One bad thing about Kimura is that if you're doing teppanyaki, no matter how big or small your party is, and no matter how dead the restaurant is, they will always try to seat you at the far corner of the table where you have the worst view of the show. The reasoning being this leaves room for later and possibly larger parties, however it completely diminishes whoever came first. We started with cocktails from the full bar. Hot sake and a Mai Tai, then some sushi rolls as appetizers. Their sushi is good, but not great, and higher priced than most nearby sushi of similar quality. Complementary soup (chicken broth with thin sliced mushrooms) and house salad (iceberg lettuce, slivered carrots, and ginger dressing) come out before the main event starts. I've been to several "hibachi" restaurants and Kimura has always been one of the better ones when it comes to the quality of both food and the show. Our chef tonight however was not very fun to watch, but made pretty tasty food. Definitely not a cheap night, or even something you'd want to do pore than a couple times a year, but for a celebration destination once in a while, it's a fun night out. read more

We didn't have the hibachi experience, but instead chose to sit in their dining room. They have recently reopened for lunch on Saturdays and Sundays and we got there fairly early. By the time we left, there were 3 tables for the hibachi meals -- one gal celebrating a birthday with family and friends. My husband ordered their sashimi salad and a hot sake. It took a couple times to be heated correctly, but finally it was right. There was only one size, large. His salad was quite good -- tuna, salmon, and a white fish with avocado, cucumber, seaweed, and some lettuce. The raw fish was more sushi -- served in big chunks -- than sashimi. But it was filling and he still liked it. I started with their avocado salad. This was a lot of avocado pieces with some shredded krab, a dollop of masago, over chopped lettuce. It was topped with a mayo based dressing. If you like avocado, you'll love this one. I was happy. I also ordered a soft shell crab appetizer. It's normally done here tempura style, but they had a kitchen glitch where all cooking methods were not working (they'd shut the kitchen stoves down; but the hibachi grills were fine). I told the owner I'd take the crab sautéed on a corner of one of the tables, but soon all was fixed. And the chef was able to prepare a seasoned sautéed crab over onions. We liked what we had. The sushi chef is talented. But I think we'd try their hibachi the next time we have a group to go with -- as this seems to be their specialty. read more

I have loved this place for years. The hibachi chefs are wonderful and the food is always consistent. Unfortunately, tonight I encountered the worst confrontation I've had at any establishment in my life. I was with 5 friends and when we had already paid for our meal I ordered a chicken and rice to go, for my boyfriend because he hasn't been feeling well. I was told i would be waiting 20-40 minutes, and although that seemed like a bit of a wait I was totally fine with it, because they were busy. No issue. Then it all really happened. My friends wanted to wait with me until I got the food I had ordered and paid for. I offered to buy them a round of shots. I mean, it was going to be at least 20 minutes. 20 minutes later... no shots. Empty bar full of empty glasses and one man doing absolutely nothing, When I asked the "bartender" about the shots and he made a rude remark to which I responded that I would like to cancel the shots (he hadn't started making them yet) My friends left to head home and I was still waiting on my food. The bartender then YELLED and SCREAMED at me to go to a booth. I told him I had already paid for my food, and he was not the owner and for that reason I would remain seated where I was. He literally screamed at me, sitting alone, in a crowded restaurant and then went into the kitchen. My boyfriend was tonafraid of what he might have done to his food and immediately went threw it in the trash when I finally got it home.. This really breaks my heart because I enjoyed my meal and I've loved going here for years and years, now I never want to return. read more

I was in town for the weekend and my Dad took us to Kimura. He promised a delicious dinner. It was Friday night around 7pm and the place was packed. But we were seated right away. Unfortunately we were hungry and the service was slow. But it was all worth the wait! My dad ordered Filet Mignon and fried rice for us. The chef cooked all of the food right in front of us and gave a show while he was cooking. Fried rice was delicious! Hot and well seasoned. At the same time he grilled fresh vegetables and they were amazing! Then he cooked the filets....oh the steak, rice and veggies in my mouth was like a perfect symphony!!! And the portions were huge. Spicy beef gyoza was 100% NOT spicy beef. It was pork. The salmons skin roll was bomb! Nice and crispy. The citi roll was good but was cut uneven. Some pieces were too big others were just right. Service 1/5: hostess told us we can have happy hour at the hibachi. This is not true. The server did not give us any happy hour prices for any of the items we ordered.
