They are in too big of a hurry to do good nails! Kim herself has done my nails because an employee of hers did my nails the first time and i was very highly unsatisfied. Kim fixed them. They were better than before but ATP i was over it so i wasn't going back. Years later i come back and Kim does my nails again. I asked for a manicure (cuticle cut/care/prep) she intentionally put the acrylic nails on first then cut my cuticle back. MAKING IT LOOK LIKE I ALREADY NEEDED A FILL ON FRESH NAILS! I don't often get my nails done because it's a little intimidating to me. I just don't know a lot about them and always pick a color that I end up not totally loving after a few days. This was my second visit to Kim's nails and my appointment with Jeannie was straight up amazing. She asked me tons of questions about what I do for work, if I was getting my nails done for a special occasion, and talked to me about what I was wanting so she could actually help me find a color and style that fit me. I came in thinking I wanted a darker color to match a dress I was planning to wear for my 10 year anniversary and after talking with me and seeing me clearly struggling and overwhelmed with options she suggested a neutral that I am totally loving. She was so kind and patient that I felt so comfortable asking her questions I never ask about the options. I left with a beautiful set of soft gels that fit me and my lifestyle more than any other set of nails I've had done. I literally made a Yelp account through a friends Facebook. I have never in my life left a review, good or bad. If I have a good time, I personally call the place. The fact that I came to write a review for the first time in my life, (30y/o) says a lot and how upset I am. I came in because all of my friends go here and they finally convinced me to come to Kim's. How I regret it so much! My appointment was at 3pm and I was seated at 3:20, I didn't leave till 5:50pm. I originally wanted two different colors with some gems. What I got was a solid color and no gems. Want to know why? By the end, I was EXHAUSTED from sitting there and I just wanted to get up and leave already. So then I overheard another girl say, aww she doesn't have time? Like no, I been sitting here for 2+ hours! Almost 3 hours. To do gel nails with a solid color it took her almost 3 hours. Not to mention there are streaks and bubbles in my nails, also, there was no sheen to them. They looked so OLD. Now the nail tech was so sweet and so nice but this was unacceptable. Another tech even noticed how long it was taking and they asked if she needed help. I asked the girl to do an oval/almond shape that's not too long. Throughout her putting the tips on and before she started shaping I continuously told her how ratchet and unprofessional I find stiletto nails, they're just not my cup of tea, and what does she do? Stiletto. Not even fully stiletto, you can see she tried to make them round almond but couldn't do it. Now I'm the type of person who will say it's great but then go to my car and cry and that's exactly what I did on Saturday. Thankfully, today, three days later I got my nails redone from my regular. I will never recommend anyone to come here. I understand Kim has hired a lot of new techs, the girl I got was one of them, but there should be a disclaimer that they take almost 3 hours to do a single gel color and Kim should offer a discount or something. I shouldn't be paying for high class nails if I can't get high class service. read more

Had a great time with Keira today! She did my nails and I am happy with them. I was a walk in and they immediately took me but suggested that I make an appointment next time to ensure I can be served. I went simple but most of the ladies were getting very detailed work done. I would love for it to be a little nicer on the inside .. comfort + cleanliness is key. I would note that there are African American nail techs there which made me happy! Adult note: quality work just needs a to be more inviting. Kiddie note: not a place I would take the kiddos while being served. By far the worst experience ever. Went in for a pedicure-which was good. Went to get a pink/white fill...and this is just where it went downhill. I'm not sure the nail tech had ever done a pink and white fill....or new set ever. I know it's hard...but it didn't even look like there was a curve in the tip. Just straight across. He was filing until my nails felt like they were going to ignite. I asked him several times to stop and he kept going until I finally had to yell stop. Also rap music-not a fan. I've been searching for months for a good nail place but it seemed like every place I found had lackluster reviews and comments about them not following new covid guidelines for nail spas. Not Kim's nails. There are dividers between every station. They text you via Booksy when they're ready, and everyone including guests and techs wear a mask. There are shields at each station. You wash hands before starting. One of them said they've always worn a mask which is great because who wants to have toe flecks accidentally hit their face? Lee rocked my world and did an absolutely adorable design on my accent nail. I'm 38 weeks preggo and figured if I'm going to be tired af once the baby gets here, my nails might as well look nice and lord knows I can't even reach my feet. A bit pricey but they only use gel on everything and they do all of the latest trends here. I'd rather pay a little more for a mani pedi that lasts longer. I'd venture to say this is probably the best place in Indy and came highly recommended by other south side Indy mommas. I'm impressed and I'll be back! Very rude. The "manager" who was supposed to be overseeing my nail tech (who was clearly not very well trained..I was unaware that she was not experienced when I booked. That's something they should tell clients to protect their TIME) the manager was on the phone gossiping loudly not paying attention. Very unprofessional and rude. She came over and started asking me what I wanted repeatedly while I was showing her the picture. I had to tell her I don't do nails so I can't explain it and asked her to just look at the picture. Once I got done my middle finger didn't look filled at all so I requested a discount because I had no more time to waste. She gave me $5 off and asked me not to come back. I was not rude to them at alll just simply asked for tapered nails. They should have just explained to me that they do not know how to do tapered. Only square and coffin. I've been going to Kim's nails for over a year and I've never been disappointed! The facility is very clean and everyone is always nice and professional. I normally go to Linda or Kim but they always hire amazing talent to take care of their clients as well. I am personally very picky about my nails and never feel like I am asking for too much when I ask for something to be changed. I never get designs but see them on women all the time and they always look flawless. I also love the direction their business is going in! They are adding a lot more services (makeup, eyelashes) to their list which is great for women who do not want to go to multiple places to keep themselves looking and feeling good. I paid $3 for each nail design so that's $6 on a design I could have done way better and I didn't go to school for it. That's a little ridiculous! I was very disappointed in my visit. I have had Kim do my nails before and it was awesome. Today I had someone else. She fumbled her way through doing my nails and I patiently waited to see if they wouldn't look so bad. Well they looked terrible. She didn't not manicure me at all before doing the acrylics and my fingers needed it badly. I was told I needed to ask for that. As you can see there are dents and chunks on the sides of almost every nail. They are uneven and just not done well. The tech went and grabbed kim from next door and Kim informed me I had to pay for that girls time and that if I wanted anything fixed or a new set I had to go online and book it. Seriously the worst service I have ever had at a nail salon. I tried to book with Kim online and couldn't get in with her. So now I'm stuck with nails I hate that I had to pay for. Kim was clearly backing a poor job and being rude to the customer in the process. I won't be back after this. I felt like I was treated like I wanted a free nail job. I really hate posting this review because I like the vibe of the salon and everyone that works there. But I had dip nails applied about 3 months ago. They were out of the white dip nail so he finished me off with gel nails and failed to inform me that they didn't have the white. ( I didn't know the difference) I had the dip taken off 2 weeks ago. I wanted to have them reapplied the end of Sept because I have a big event plus travel coming up. I walked in to Kim's with strong nails 3 months ago. Once the dip nails were taken off with the salon's solution, the grinder used to get the rest of the dip nail off and then my nails filed down until I no length left, I am left with paper thin nails that I can't even keep intact until I get to another salon.
