Based on the ample positive reviews on Google and Yelp, I decided to walk-in on a rainy Saturday. I expressed it was my first visit and asked if they took walk-ins. I was told there would be a 15-min wait, which was fine by me, and he told me to have a seat. He didn't ask which service I would like, but he approached me after checking a few other people in to clarify. The waiting area is comfortable and there's a couple of fish tanks if you don't feel like staring at your phone. While I waited, I used their restroom which was clean. Always a good sign. They also have a water dispenser in the waiting area if you'd like to hydrate before or after your massage (they'll ask and fetch you water post-massage.) I opted for their standard massage (foot and body) for $40 (+tip.) I was shown into a room with two massage tables after my 15 minute wait and a gentleman came in with a lukewarm tub of water to soak my feet. I took off my shoes and socks and placed them aside, and put my pocketbook in a plastic basket that they provide so I didn't need to leave my things on the floor. This is standard at a lot of places. ATTIRE: I've been to these sorts of places while wearing jeans and a T-shirt, or shorts and a sports bra, it really doesn't matter. They will work around your clothes. For the most part, there is a towel between their hands and your clothing with some exceptions. They are massaging your back and butt with the towel. If your legs are bare, they will use their hands. They also will reach down the back of your shirt with some lotion to massage your neck. NOT at this place, but other places, I have had them lift the back of my shirt, unhook my bra, and massage my back. Or, push the top of my pants down a bit to get to my lower back, if they are athletic wear. And no, they don't ask permission, but it has all felt fairly routine and professional to me. There was one or two spots. I was extra sensitive and grunted, he was very polite and paused and asked "softer?" and when I said yes, he said, "ok, sorry" with a smile. In short, don't be afraid to ask them to be less rough if you're not enjoying it. They just want you to enjoy it and come back! I'll also mention that every masseuse is different. I've returned to places only to have a different experience with a different individual. In short, I will be back! They were very polite, the place was clean, I liked the vibe, their estimated wait time was accurate, the massage was very good, and I like the price. As for tipping, 20% ($8) can feel a little low when someone is spending an hour rubbing your body. I tipped $15 atop the $40 flat rate, but that is up to you. read more

The place is clean and relaxing and I always leave feeling much better than I came. The star is lost because it can sometimes be a bit difficult/confusing scheduling an appointment with the language barriers on the phone. I'm disappointed and discomfited in my visit this afternoon. I have always had an impeccable experience here. I've been treated with respect, receive quality service and always felt it safe and clean. Today my masseuse, who otherwise did a fine job, chose to massage my upper thighs with a palm grip on my inner thigh. His grasp was uncomfortably close to private regions. He did ask at other points in the massage whether I was okay (presumably referring to pressure) and I responded affirmatively. I did not say anything about what I felt was inappropriate touching, as I was really very surprised. He was also clearly pressing some trigger point in my upper thigh and, because I'm a heavier person, I thought it may have been an unintentional (though repetitive) straying of hands. I've never had anyone there massage below the blanket covering between knee and shoulders. What bothers me more, as I do believe the other may have been unintentional, is that I was told I MUST tip at least $5. I was using a $30 gift card I received for Christmas and only had a few dollars cash on me, which I was attempting to tip with. I felt forced to provide my credit card and tip a full $5 (still feeling unsettled by the massage). I have always tipped at least $5 in the past but I wasn't thrilled with my service. If this establishment wants to charge $35 for each massage then they should do so. I doubt I'll return (despite a remaining $15 in gift cards). Wow, this is the greatest massage place ever! Upon walking in I was greeted by a very nice gentleman, and he asked me what service I was interested in. I opted for the 90 minute foot & body massage, and it was only $45!!! The massage itself was absolutely AMAZING, and I felt really comfortable and relaxed. The reflexology techniques used in my feet made them feel AMAZING! I also do want to applaud them for how clean their shop is! This is probably the cleanest shop I've seen, and the best one I have ever been to - and I've been to a lot of really expensive massage places. Tulip, you have won me over!! Heads up! I always get the foot & body massage, 60 mins for $30 (plus tip). They really get in there which is my preferred type of massage. Obviously you can ask them to lighten the pressure if it's too painful! They use lotion and also the foot bath is amazing. Great massages for very reasonable prices. Tulip is similar to other "Chinese massage" places in the city. If you haven't been to one before, here's the run down: It's a communal (i.e. clothes stay on) setting where there are maybe 6 beds in a large room, with low lights and soothing music. You'll lie on your back, roll up your pant legs, and dip your tooties into a hot foot bath. They'll drape a sheet over you and massage your head, arms, and neck. Next, they'll give your now-toasty feet a good beat down, complete with lotion and hot towels. Then, you'll flip over for the back, leg, and butt rubs. I imagine you could decline the tushie rub if you're squeamish, but don't knock it 'til you try it. They do offer oil massages, which are done in private rooms like a traditional nekkid massage, but I've never tried one here. A few tips -- because you're being massaged over clothes, I imagine it'd be uncomfortable to wear jeans. I opt for leggings. Also remove your watches and jewelry or the stack of hair ties you keep on your wrist. They just get in the way. No appointment necessary, so just wander in. And most importantly, PLEASE airplane-mode your phone. No one wants to hear your iPhone buzzing away while we're trying to maximize our zen. Seriously, for the price, you can't beat this place. Love getting to soak my feet in scented water too! For $25 they start from the scalp and work their way to most body parts. Clothes are definitely left on given this is done in a room with others but the room is kept darkened and very quiet with soft music playing. I'd suggest wearing shorts and a loose tank top. We called in at about 6:30pm and they asked if we could be there by 7:15- no appointment needed! Clothes stay on so I recommend wearing a t-shirt or something with an open neckline and loose pants that can be rolled up. They will use lotion and reach under your shirt at the top to massage your neck and shoulders and your feet will soak in a basin of water. The lights are dim and a cloth is draped over your eyes so you won't even notice there are others in the room. In fact, I nearly fell asleep while my feet were massaged. With a $13 tip, my hour-long relaxing experience cost just $38. Service was also welcoming and professional. I'll be returning often! read more

I went with everybody's advice on their reviews about the clothing, so I wore loose shorts, a sports bra and a loose tank top to make it easier for the massage. I brought a change of clothes and changed in their restroom after. He was very gentle until I told him he could be harder with me, so let them know if you want a soft or deep massage. I have degenerative disc disease in my neck and back and I have scoliosis, this is the first time in so long that I had any kind of relief from my pain. He knew right where to work out the pain. When you start the massage you will lay on your back and have your feet over the end of the table in a foot bath where they soak while he starts with your head. If you have long hair I suggest you put it in a ponytail on top of your head so that it will be out-of-the-way while they massage your face, your ears and your head. Make sure you bring a tip to give to your masseuse because they are well worth a gracious tip. I paid $30 for the one hour massage. I had been here once before and had a decent massage for the price. As of my most recent visit, I will never be back. After calling ahead the day before to book an appointment in "the private room, separate from the large main room," we were left in the waiting room for 10 minutes before being told that if we wanted "separate rooms", we would need to wait another 10-15 minutes. We explained that we did not book nor want separate rooms, but a private room together. We were again told this would take 10-15 minutes, as he had thought we requested separate rooms and not one room together. How this makes any logical sense, I will never comprehend. They didn't have one room to give us because they thought we wanted two? As we explained our frustration in having made reservations yet being told to wait, the desk boy adopted the most condescending attitude I have ever experienced in my twenty plus years of customer service relations. He scoffed at the idea that we booked a "separate, private room" and not "separate rooms" for two people. He called me a liar, and surprisingly employed patronizing language throughout our conversation while simultaneously being completely unable to explain anything in coherent English. An experience that was supposed to be relaxing has ultimately soured my day, and I hope this review prevents it happening from anyone else. If you call to book an appointment, and you have a sinking feeling that the desk boy has no idea how to speak English but is just saying "Yes, yes, yes" to get you off the phone, you would be correct. Do not give this business any more of your time or money! My biggest regret is that I have to give this dump 1 star instead of the 0 stars their desk boy's petulant attitude so deserves. I tell you, I happened upon this place about 2 years ago. It was so awesome. I went in expecting a foot massage. Instead I got a full body massage with extra attention to my feet. $25/hr. have since taken about 10 different friends/family with me. And they all loved it. You keep your clothes on. So I recommend sweat pants and if at all possible a strapless bra (they do go inside the shirt in the back to massage). when they get to your back if there is too much pressure don't be afraid to ask them to lighten up a bit. They will be happy to. I have a bad back and they adjusted the "couch" for that. I would now suggest to call and get an appointment as they get pretty busy now.
