Popped in last minute with a friend taking me to getting our nails done. The shop is small but very productive. I only got a manicure and absolutely loved my esthetician's manner, flexibility and attention to detail. It had been nearly a year since I got my nails done in a shop so I was out of practice completely. Beautiful finished product has me feeling like a million bucks! Cannot wait to see what we come up with next. Found my new local nail shop and you can pay in cash, card or venmo. I do strongly suggest still bringing your tip in cash at least! What a delight to have a pedicure spa experience at this nail salon. It was a gift from a friend when I visited from out-of-town. I was impressed with the professional service and the results. The foot treatment for the skin and especially the heel was effective in making it soft and smooth. I purchased "epoch" sole solution foot treatment that Kim used. I was so happy going here because first of all they open early and I work till 9am and can never find a place to get my pedicure so when I found this shop I was so delighted. I realize I need to call to make an appointment but they were kind enough to take me with not a long wait they do a wonderful job and I love the leg massage I got. My go to Alameda Nail Shop. Owner and staff are polite and friendly. For Manicure I love Michelle! The attention to detail is on point! Good color selections for regular, dip or gel. I walked into Kim's Nails for a gel pedicure without an appointment and was seated immediately. It's been nearly a year since my last pedicure, I had hastily clipped my nails, and my feet were in need of some care. As mentioned by others, I was very impressed with the attention to detail. My cuticles were carefully cleaned up, some ingrown parts of a nail were noticed and taken care of and the scrub/massage removed some tough skin. I was incredibly content at that point and the polish wasn't even on yet! The woman doing my pedicure checked in with me throughout the process to make sure the temperature of the water and warm towel were OK and the polish color was still what I wanted. Overall, I was very pleased with the service and price and will absolutely be back again. read more

I scheduled a regular mani pedi and got there 10-15mins earlier than expected. There was no problem with that at all and they assisted me right away. I was really hoping they would give me the key chain full of gel polishes, that also have a matching regular polish color, but they didn't? I haven't had a regular OPI mani pedi in years. So I thought that was a little outdated.They also made me walk bare foot to the table for my manicure which i thought was weird and unsanitary. Overall I'm not complaining about the job they did, because I was pretty satisfied. I was really just looking for a clean up. I appreciated the women that did my nails and asking if I liked the color before proceeding. read more

It was a great experience. My nails were looking outgrown and rough. A couple things I would like to note - Called same day and was still able to get an appointment. - very nice and gentle with your hands - at first I wasn't pleased with how the color turned out on my nail versus the display and she was very quick to aid me in this in the end I left very happy. Decided to check out somewhere different for my last pedi in CA as I am moving to FL., Kim welcomed me and quickly asked what I wanted and got me situated right away. Asked if I like the water warm or hot which I appreciated that because give it to me hot! The salon is very nice w/ good parking and her staff is so friendly. My nails are very beautiful, very clean and everyone at Kim's was amazing. They are very sweet and put a lot of care into their work. I would feel very comfortable sending parents and grandparents to get their nails done here because of how caring the environment is. They get a lot of calls for reservations so if you can, call. Walk in is welcome. read more

I just moved to Alameda and was looking for a nail salon to commit to, and I couldn't have chosen better! My friend and I scheduled manipedis side by side and had a wonderful time. Everyone there was courteous, professional, and pleasant. The entire process was pampering and we were well tended to. The staff at Kim's were so nice to chat with and very accommodating. I chose a color for my nails that was not quite as dark as I thought it would be, and after the second coat I shyly asked if it would get darker. The woman doing my nails and the owner both immediately searched for a slightly darker color and were more than willing to help me achieve the color I originally wanted. The reason I specifically wanted to write this review is because a day after our manipedis, I broke a nail! The break was really deep and very painful, and also bled a little. These were my natural nails that I had put in a lot of effort to growing long- I was so heartbroken. I went in the next day to ask if they could fix it and they DID! The owner was so gentle and meticulous. She buffed off as much gel as she could, sealed the break with some powder and liquid, and then re-gelled the nail. It didn't hurt or sting at all, and looked brand new! It's been five days since and it still looks perfect. I've been able to use my nails almost exactly the same with no problems. Kims nails is going to be my regular nail shop from now on. My best friend and I are returning for manipedis a few days before her wedding. I'm so grateful to have found a wonderful nail shop on my first try! read more

I AM ABSOLUTELY IN LOVE WITH THIS PLACE! Truly they do such an incredible job with my powder dip nails every single time and it always lasts A FULL MONTH! Yes that's right, a month!! And I'm a teacher so I use my hands a lot! I literally even moved apartments and was packing/moving all the boxes and they still stayed in tact! I live in NY usually & I have yet to find a place that is as good as Kim's Nails. The price is SO affordable for the result! In NY all the places are like $70+ and it usually only lasts two weeks max. I wish Kim's nails could teleport to NY with me haha! I 10000% recommend them! read more

Kim's nails was great! We called in the morning to make an appointment and were immediately seated when we arrived. The staff is friendly and everyone is wearing masks. They have partitions between stations. They offer a variety of nail services and are very reasonably priced. We were all happy with our nails and a few days later all of our nails are still in great condition! read more

Ok, I think I might have bruised my toe in Germany after walking in heels too much. So I'm upgrading to 3 stars because the pedi did seem rough and rushed and no plastic liner. I don't think I'll be back because of the lack of a liner and it wasn't a toe inflection. But wow, staying on for a month? That's pretty good. read more

2 stars for Kim the owner who is nice and friendly plus the location is convenient next to Encinal Market, Feel Good Bakery, Bluefin Sushi & Thai, and a coffee shop. This salon is chaotic though especially on the weekends! If you want a relaxing and calming time to get pampered at the end of the week you won't get it at this place. Everything seems so rushed and the service is not consistent. They can be great one time then awful the next because they're in a hurry & probably overbooked! One of the ladies working there, I think her name is Bella is very rude & unpleasant. Anybody who has encountered her can attest to that. Or you can find out for yourself. I hate to leave a negative review overall because this seems to be a very neighborly establishment. But there are so many more better nail salons in the island who can provide you with quality work & customer service that you deserve. read more

I have been going to Kim's Nails for about a year now. My dip nails and gel toes still looks good after a month but I have to go in because of the growth. The shape and paint job is always on point and every technician does a great job. I also like how your toes and nails get worked on at the same time so you are out in an hour, which is great if time is an issue for you. As a first time mom and being self employed, it's hard to find time. read more

Pros: good pricing: $45 for a mani/pedi. Nice environment and people. Massage chair. Great pedi massage. Cons: Kim, who did my mani, was distracted and booking appointments and doing other things while doing my mani. Did not really trim my cuticles and gave a light massage. Tom, who did my pedi, gave a great massage but also did not trim my toe cuticles much and did not remove some of the polish on my cuticles and skin (dark turquoise). Even missed polishing half of one of my little toes. I don't think he could see well enough to notice those details. They were definitely on half hour appointment schedules, trying to get me out of the massage chair within 30 minutes for another customer. Too rushed! It was not until I got home later and I put on my reading glasses that I noticed these basic items that were over looked, or because they were so rushed did not do that great of a job. read more

Updated review 6/14 I called in for a manicure with a design -regular no gel. It is the 2nd same day appointment I had with a woman named (Bella I think ) and both times she is extremely terse and unfriendly . I can't explain it to you other than that her demeanor makes me not want to go back to Kim's. I showed her a design I wanted on one finger that was WAY less complicated than the nails done for other women during my countless visits . She literally rolled her eyes , breathed annoyingly and said "no I can't do that " . My issue is not that she couldn't do it or wouldn't do it. It's that's shes rude . Unfortunately , Kim's just lost a regular customer not to mention all my friends and the girls in my family . Be POLITE ------ I've been a sporadic walk-in visitor of Kim's for the past 6 years . They don't really do walk-ins especially because of the pandemic but usually they will make a same day appointment . I have been to almost every nail salon in alameda and the contenders are ; Kim's , Vicky's and Nail Bar . Kim's because it's quiet and the my manicures always last over 2 weeks and it's never crowded . It feels very calm inside and the employees are well-mannered . I put it at number 1 because I consistently go back. Vicky's for the same reasons but I typically only go to the man who works there for a manicure . He's very detailed and patient. Nail Bar is great because it's what you want out of a high end salon. The service is personalized . The shop is clean , stylish and peaceful . They serve you a strong drink if you ask for it . This is where I like to go with my bestie for girl talk . The prices are comparable to other salons but it's strictly by appointment only. read more

They are super nice here! I happened to be in Alameda and needed to kill an hour and a half and found Kim's Nails! I called and they were able to accommodate on a busy Sunday morning. People just kept coming in! The owner knew everyone's name. Very impressive. I got a pedicure and it was last a good month. Cash and check only. Plenty of parking available out front. Got my nails done here about two weeks ago, and decided to give the review for my hands only because Michelle did an amazing job. I don't get my nails done often anymore post covid but decided to treat myself before my birthday. Got my nails done with Gems and two weeks later after a trip to Mexico and jumping into the ocean, all of my nail gems are on, my nails are all in tact and the job was done superbly. 10/10 would recommend just for the simple fact that they endured my trip. will definitely go back again. read more

This post is long due (as a matter of fact, I started it maybe a year ago and forgot about it but I decided it would be a disservice to ladies trying to find a good waxing place that is not very expensive) Very nice, fast and good results! I don't get my nails done but get my legs waxed there and the owner, Kim, is very quick and does a good job. The price is/ was right (I haven't been there in a loooong time due to my own personal affairs) , nothing like the European Wax Center (no luxury, no high prices just decency all over). And just UNLIKE The European Wax Centers, nobody will ask you what medicine you're on, trying to pretend they understand something they don't and you'll not get reminder phone calls telling you "it's been so long since your last appt....Bonus: the owner, Kim is very friendly and pleasant . Just make sure you have either cash or a checkbook to pay (again, I haven't been there in a while and things might have changed). I will go back (when I get over the shame of looking like a wolf from not being waxed in a while ) read more

I have a bad habit of nail biting and my nails were not in good shape. Still, that doesn't mean I don't know what a quality manicure should be like. She told me on the phone it would be $60 then when I got there she said oh it's $10 extra for French tip. I mentioned French on the phone... Then I wanted round or natural shape and she rudely told me it won't look good because my nail bed is too short. I trusted her because she is the expert but she literally sighed and nearly slammed her hands on the table out of annoyance and said "I'll do it if you want." I took her advice and went with square. Throughout our appointment, basically all she said to me was repeatedly telling me don't bite my nails. Yes, I got it, thanks. She was yelling at her employee throughout and at one point knocked liquid all over my arm and hands from waving her hands around at her. Didn't say sorry or excuse me, nothing. Loved having that liquid burning my hand I did notice that there was a lot of dried stuff all over at the end so I had to ask for lotion because a hand massage is the last thing you'll be getting here. I shouldn't have tipped but did so I spent $84 for a bad attitude, judgment, and a chunky, uneven, bad manicure. Should have just kept my bad nails to begin with. Leann's might have been a nice place at one point in time and it's too bad this is what it's become. My pictures don't even fully show how bad it is. This is no way to treat your customers, especially with the product you are delivering.

I got to sit and pick my color while I waited for a chair to open up and was then offered water or tea while I got my nails done. Amy did my fingers while another one of her coworkers did my toes but both of them were super sweet and good at what they do. I chose a blue/grey cateye color and love how it turned out! Will definitely be coming back here in the future.

The nail techs consulted with me and explained to me the multitude of options. -Acrylic is the hardest and best if you work your hands -GelX is for when you add extensions to natural nails -Builder Gel is harder than gel and is for natural nails. -Gel a little harder than normal polish and also for natural nails The first time I went I got gel with Cateye. So cute. The set could have lasted me another week or two as there was no lifting. But, my nail cracked from the side. So I went a second time. This time I got builder gel. I could feel the difference in hardness. I have found that all the techs at NailEnvy are very meticulous and detailed with their work. The massages they give with their services is the perfect strength to relax your muscles. The designs they create on your nails are commensurate with the price you pay. Because they are creative and detailed, the designs are unique and awesome. They are so legit! The cost is comparable to other salons, not overpriced and competitive. As for cleanliness, their utensils and nail stations are clean. Making an appointment is super easy as they have a website where you can schedule at your convenience. If you want a specific nail tech, you need to call and make an appointment over the phone. But all of them are exceptional. The major distinction of this nail salon is the techs themselves. They are so happy and nice. It's a salon where I have a hard time leaving because the atmosphere is so friendly. I love looking at the designs they apply as they are all unique and astonishing. I highly recommend Envy Nails. They get a 5 star rating from me

The technician chose a nail that didn't fit my finger at all. Proceeded to awkwardly place the nail and glued/cured it down. Not only is it lifted and separated, it's misaligned. I can literally fit a metal file between the real nail and the pressed on one. When I brought this up, she proceeded to tell me that my nail is crooked and that's the reason for the gap.. *cue angelah Johnson's skit* I asked her to take it off and to try an acrylic nail instead since she didn't seem to keen on gel x. She refused and instead filed the sides more to 'fix it'. Bottom line is this, there's really only one token person who does all the different services well. Everyone else either seems to be fillers for simple manicure and pedicures. I'm tired of spending my hard earned money on techs that don't know how to do something you ask but attempts anyway and will not take accountability for when they mess up. This is not a nail school and the prices don't reflect it either. I now have to pay someone else, somewhere else to fix the one nail after spending $90 here. Let this be a PSA: We work too hard to earn our money for these life luxuries. Don't let shops like this make you feel like you're the problem when you bring up their wrong doing. I want you to know that I moved back to CA after leaving Wisconsin for 6 years!! Yea back!! Went to the saloon at south shore because I had gone there before I left. However, they had sold the place and the new people were horrible!!! So I called Kim and asked what her prices were and then hung up only to call back and ask her to repeat that!! She was so nice and funny on the phone - Believe me I have the best looking nails and feet in Alameda!! Kim is fantastic for my fill and Tom does my feet. However, they are all great!! As a fan of old-fashioned honesty and integrity, I want to share that Kim's Nails gets the highest possible score for being "good people" and so is/are a great business to support. I stupidly dropped my wallet on the street in their neighborhood and a nice person turned it to Kim's, who then made a big effort to track me down with the eventual result that I got back my wallet with nothing missing/everything in it, including over $100 cash. I've been going to Kim's Nails for a several years. Kim is great! I've had acrylic nails for over 10 years and Kim is the best. Kim and staff are friendly and honest. The salon is clean. Before discovering Kim I had encountered nail tech's who were too heavy handed and my fingers would be sore the next day, NOT the case with Kim. I took a break from acrylics for a few months and now happy to be back. read more

Kim does my eyebrow waxes and always does a fabulous job...and you can't beat the price. She's always able to fit me in the same day...often within the hour that I call for a drop in. I have referred her to several of my friends and I also have many friends who use her for their nails and love her. read more
