I only got a manicure and absolutely loved my esthetician's manner, flexibility and attention to detail. I walked into Kim's Nails for a gel pedicure without an appointment and was seated immediately. It's been nearly a year since my last pedicure, I had hastily clipped my nails, and my feet were in need of some care. As mentioned by others, I was very impressed with the attention to detail. My cuticles were carefully cleaned up, some ingrown parts of a nail were noticed and taken care of and the scrub/massage removed some tough skin. I was incredibly content at that point and the polish wasn't even on yet! The woman doing my pedicure checked in with me throughout the process to make sure the temperature of the water and warm towel were OK and the polish color was still what I wanted. I scheduled a regular mani pedi and got there 10-15mins earlier than expected. There was no problem with that at all and they assisted me right away. I was really hoping they would give me the key chain full of gel polishes, that also have a matching regular polish color, but they didn't? I haven't had a regular OPI mani pedi in years. So I thought that was a little outdated.They also made me walk bare foot to the table for my manicure which i thought was weird and unsanitary. Decided to check out somewhere different for my last pedi in CA as I am moving to FL., Kim welcomed me and quickly asked what I wanted and got me situated right away. I AM ABSOLUTELY IN LOVE WITH THIS PLACE! Truly they do such an incredible job with my powder dip nails every single time and it always lasts A FULL MONTH! Yes that's right, a month!! And I'm a teacher so I use my hands a lot! I literally even moved apartments and was packing/moving all the boxes and they still stayed in tact! I just moved to Alameda and was looking for a nail salon to commit to, and I couldn't have chosen better! My friend and I scheduled manipedis side by side and had a wonderful time. Everyone there was courteous, professional, and pleasant. The entire process was pampering and we were well tended to. The staff at Kim's were so nice to chat with and very accommodating. I chose a color for my nails that was not quite as dark as I thought it would be, and after the second coat I shyly asked if it would get darker. The woman doing my nails and the owner both immediately searched for a slightly darker color and were more than willing to help me achieve the color I originally wanted. The reason I specifically wanted to write this review is because a day after our manipedis, I broke a nail! The break was really deep and very painful, and also bled a little. These were my natural nails that I had put in a lot of effort to growing long- I was so heartbroken. I went in the next day to ask if they could fix it and they DID! The owner was so gentle and meticulous. She buffed off as much gel as she could, sealed the break with some powder and liquid, and then re-gelled the nail. It didn't hurt or sting at all, and looked brand new! It's been five days since and it still looks perfect. I've been able to use my nails almost exactly the same with no problems. Kims nails is going to be my regular nail shop from now on. My best friend and I are returning for manipedis a few days before her wedding. I'm so grateful to have found a wonderful nail shop on my first try! read more

Everything seems so rushed and the service is not consistent. They can be great one time then awful the next because they're in a hurry & probably overbooked! The shape and paint job is always on point and every technician does a great job. Pros: good pricing: $45 for a mani/pedi. Nice environment and people. Massage chair. Great pedi massage. Cons: Kim, who did my mani, was distracted and booking appointments and doing other things while doing my mani. Did not really trim my cuticles and gave a light massage. Tom, who did my pedi, gave a great massage but also did not trim my toe cuticles much and did not remove some of the polish on my cuticles and skin (dark turquoise). Even missed polishing half of one of my little toes. I don't think he could see well enough to notice those details. They were definitely on half hour appointment schedules, trying to get me out of the massage chair within 30 minutes for another customer. Too rushed! It was not until I got home later and I put on my reading glasses that I noticed these basic items that were over looked, or because they were so rushed did not do that great of a job. read more

Updated review 6/14 I called in for a manicure with a design -regular no gel. It is the 2nd same day appointment I had with a woman named (Bella I think ) and both times she is extremely terse and unfriendly . I can't explain it to you other than that her demeanor makes me not want to go back to Kim's. She literally rolled her eyes , breathed annoyingly and said "no I can't do that " . My issue is not that she couldn't do it or wouldn't do it. It's that's shes rude . Unfortunately , Kim's just lost a regular customer not to mention all my friends and the girls in my family . Be POLITE ------ I've been a sporadic walk-in visitor of Kim's for the past 6 years . They don't really do walk-ins especially because of the pandemic but usually they will make a same day appointment . I have been to almost every nail salon in alameda and the contenders are ; Kim's , Vicky's and Nail Bar . Kim's because it's quiet and the my manicures always last over 2 weeks and it's never crowded . It feels very calm inside and the employees are well-mannered . I put it at number 1 because I consistently go back. Vicky's for the same reasons but I typically only go to the man who works there for a manicure . He's very detailed and patient. Nail Bar is great because it's what you want out of a high end salon. The service is personalized . The shop is clean , stylish and peaceful . They serve you a strong drink if you ask for it . This is where I like to go with my bestie for girl talk . The prices are comparable to other salons but it's strictly by appointment only. read more

I don't get my nails done often anymore post covid but decided to treat myself before my birthday. This post is long due (as a matter of fact, I started it maybe a year ago and forgot about it but I decided it would be a disservice to ladies trying to find a good waxing place that is not very expensive) Very nice, fast and good results! I don't get my nails done but get my legs waxed there and the owner, Kim, is very quick and does a good job. The price is/ was right (I haven't been there in a loooong time due to my own personal affairs) , nothing like the European Wax Center (no luxury, no high prices just decency all over). And just UNLIKE The European Wax Centers, nobody will ask you what medicine you're on, trying to pretend they understand something they don't and you'll not get reminder phone calls telling you "it's been so long since your last appt....Bonus: the owner, Kim is very friendly and pleasant .
