Had the fried chicken bowl(~$15). The fried chicken wasn't breaded the way I expected. Used to Korean fried chicken with a thicker super crispy shell that's drenched in sauce. This chicken was very crispy but more like a thin tempura. I prefer the hard shell but know not everyone likes that. The chicken was still super crispy. I had it with the sriracha bbq sauce which was a great mix. Wish there had a been a little more sauce or some on the side for the rice in the bottom of the bowl. The rice was good. It was sushi rice with a light sushi vinegar seasoning. A bit mushy for my preference but a very minor nitpick. Had it with kimchi, pickled ginger, and pickled cucumber. The pickled cucumber was my favorite but the other two were also great. It was a huge bowl and easily could have been a meal and a half or two meals but I had just finished a run and had a big appetite. Definitely want to come back and try some of the other items on the menu. The menu seems well focused which is a good sign to me. Only online ordering or through a kiosk. The kiosk didn't have any item descriptions but that is probably so people don't spend too long looking at each description. Still would have been nice to have a menu in the store for new customers. I tried this place early September and was in LOVE. The corn dogs were crispy and had that desired cheese pull. We also got a truffle fry which was thick cut, perfectly seasoned and EXTRA crispy (so delicious!!). However, upon returning recently, the fries were completely different. Soggy, skinny and with too much truffle oil. It was only two weeks since I had made my first visit and I was so disappointed! I'm not sure if they were out of the regular fries or if this is the new norm, but if it is I wouldn't order their fries again. One tip I have would be to eat the corn dogs right away if you order cheese, otherwise the cheese will not be very gooey as it's no longer as warm and fresh as when they first come out. I've been craving this place for so so long without even trying it, and it was so worth the wait!!! I want to try this whole menu out because everything looks so so good but I had to try the Korean Street Corndog and the Potato Corndog with Beef. I got the Korean Street Corndog with just mozzarella because they only offered the Potato Corndog with beef and I'm so glad I did. The mozzarella pull on the Corndog is AMAZING and the combination of cheese and sugar just works. The Potato Corndog was also phenomenal- it tasted like a really good Corndog but better because it has sugar and the nice crunch from the fry-like texture. Also there is something so unique about the batter. I could eat these every day. If you had to try one thing at this place, I'd recommend getting the Korean Street Dog with 1/2 beef & 1/2 mozzarella to get a nice experience of both. But if you can get two why not double the experience throughout?!! Let's start with the aesthetics, they have a neon light up sign that says Send Noodz, so I already knew I would be in for a treat. The setting is intimate with great music playing and some cooking shows playing on the TV above the drink cooler. I think we watched tv for like 20 minutes after eating because the clips were so entertaining. The food is phenomenal. Everything is cut fresh every day and you can taste that. Boyfriend had the Kinchimama bowl which he still hasn't stopped talking about. He's a big poke fan and overall a kimchi fan and he said the flavors were amazing. I went for the fried stuff and their corn dogs are just WOW. Cheese inside, battered in fries, they have the perfect treat. This is exactly what you would expect for Korean street food except it's in Allston. The ma doo are also perfectly fried and their filling is addictive. Better than any traditional dumpling I've ever had. For dessert they now have fried Oreos. My oh my are those addicting. Dusted with powdered sugar and fried perfectly. I could eat 1000 of these but they come 3 to an order. Perfect for ending your meal and satisfying that sweet tooth. Overall I have no complaints and only compliments. I have loved everything I have tried here. The corn dogs were top notch. The crunch and batter they use are the real differentiators for me. Ordered the Poke Bowl twice, it's just darn good and perfect if you want something on the lighter side. Exactly what I want when I am trying to eat a little more healthy. The real gem are their KFC Honey Teriyaki Sliders. It comes on a Hawaiian bread, which is a little softer and sweet. Amazing food! I had a situation where the yelp delivery driver did not come through with my order. There was a bit of trouble picking it up, the restaurant called me and notified me and told me to keep an eye out. The driver never followed through and the restaurant has closed by then, One of the employees reached out to me, and offered to either come pick it up or he was able to drop it off because they were already going through Cambridge. It is in the heart of Allston and from the outside seemed like a pretty popular spot to grab takeout. For my dish I settled on the Kimchipapi bowl and while it was good it didn't really blow me away. It was just like any other poke bowl but it filled me up and satisfied the craving I had for poke. The gyoza are deep fried and on the fattening side but good for all that tried them. My friend ordered the bibimbap bowl and was very unsatisfied. I wouldn't come here for bibimbap - its americanized and not very good. I would stick to a classic poke dish and you will be alright. Have been here a few times and never been disappointed. They are only taking online orders at tht moment but the process is really easy through their site. My must have a each visit are the potato corn dog, Korean street food corn dog, and truffle fries. The Korean street corndog is my favorite with the half hot dog half mozzarella option. The corndog is always instant crispy and I get a crazy cheese pull every time. The sugar on the outside is a really great pair with the beef hotdog because it cuts the saltines. The potato corn dog is the same but it has french fries all over it. If you didn't think the Korean street one is crispy enough, then this one is for you. It always cuts the top of my mouth but it's worth it. Truffle fries are thin fries that have truffle oil and parmesan cheese all over it. I like the fries because it doesn't have an extremely overwhelming truffle taste like other places. Fries are always extra crispy and not oily feeling at all (for an oiled french fry). Right now they are taking orders only through online or calls which I think is great because it means the workers can focus on getting the food prepared! They give you a time the food will be ready for and only one order is done at a time meaning you won't be around a bunch of strangers while waiting for food. Korean Street Corndog: All the corn dogs are VERY crispy on the outside while still being super moist on the inside! They all had the photogenic cheese pull even 15 minutes after ordering. Side note all the corn dogs have sugar on the outside which I didn't expect but I loved once trying. The sugar helps cut away from the salty flavor from the beef hot dog. They also all come with a packet of ketchups and mustards so you can choose how much you want or if you want any at all! 1/2 cheese 1/2 beef: I love this version of the corndogs! It's a great way to get both the beef and cheese. You get the cheese pull at the beginning and get the finish off with the filling beef hot dog. beef corndog: I did like this one but I think it tastes better and is a better experience if you also have the cheese inside! mozzarella corndog: I really loved this one as well! I think it had a great cheese pull and was completely filled with cheese inside! No empty space that I have seen with ones I make myself. I guess it is better to leave it to the experts haha! Empanadas: These were very crispy on the outside and the meat inside was very moist. I did get both the beef and chicken but ended up liking the chicken one more. If you look at the picture you can see the beef casing is darker, I think it was slightly over cooked because the beef was a little dry. The chicken one was very juicy though and had some cheese inside. One thing I would change is the packaging. It isn't labeled anywhere so when ordering many items you can't tell which is which and that makes sharing pretty hard because for the corn dogs you have to get pretty far to find out which is which. After eating here 3 times in the last 3 weeks I decided to finally write my review. I'd say the place really is a 4.5 star and was torn between 4 and 5 rating, but decided that since this is the best fried chicken I've had, I'm going to go with 5 stars. Definitely recommend and will continue to come back! Food: I've only had the KFC bowl after seeing someone else order it and as mentioned above, the fried chicken is INSANELY good. They have three sauces to choose from and I usually go with the sriracha BBQ and it's incredible. 2/3 times I've also added a fried egg on top. Overall it's a great portion for one person and you will definitely be full along with its three mix-ins and rice. The mix-ins are where my feelings are a bit mixed...and I'm still looking for my go-to 3rd mix-in. The kimchi and carrots I found fantastic (although a friend of mine wasn't keen on the carrots). The jalapenos were disappointing, the pickled ginger was too overpowering, and the spicy pickled cucumbers were just okay. I'll have to keep trying, maybe pickled radish next? One time I did order an order of fries and although they tasted pretty good, they weren't as crispy as I like them and not worth the 4 dollars in my opinion. Ambience/décor/service: I've only gotten take out from here so I can't speak too much on this. The name is fantastic, as is their logo. They even sell kimchipapi merch on their site lol. In terms of service, food is usually ready within 15 minutes for pick-up and I haven't had any mistakes yet. Overall value is great. The above bowl is 12 bucks (13 with the egg) and it's a filling meal for one person. At some point I want to try other stuff on the menu, like their bowls, but that fried chicken...mmm...I don't want to potentially disappoint myself with something else. The kimchipapi bowl consists of every item I like to put in my poke bowl so it was as if it was calling out my name. The salmon and tuna in it were thickly cut and fresh. The other toppings tasted the same and were just like any other poke bowl I've had. The sriracha bbq flavored kfc platter was truly a huge disappointment because of how salty it was. The flavor was okay (definitely tasted like a sriracha bbq flavoring), but it was too salty to even enjoy. I was super excited for the corndog because I've had similar ones in Japan (I know these are Korean styled, but truthfully I'm not sure of the difference). The corndog was delicious. The gooey mozzarella topped with sugar was an amazing combination. The fried breading on the outside was a little thick, but still very enjoyable. I definitely won't order the chicken again, but I'd come back to try the other corndogs, bowls, and the crab salad fries. Kimchipapi can be its own religion. The name alone was enough to get me in the door. The food had me back at the door... in a snowstorm. We had family visiting from out of state and had been wanting to try kimchipapi for a long time after meeting the owner at an event last year (he's the nicest, most unassuming and humble person ever!).
