We stop by at Jasper before heading back to Vancouver. I had to say this is the best place I choose for our lunch. After more than 20 days of western food, my stomach feels so sick, we are desperately looking for Asian food, at any kind. Overall the service is great, I ordered my dreaming Kimchi soup, and my husband ordered a beef Udon noodle, plus a plate of Chicken salad, seaweed salad on side for sharing. I have to admit it tastes just like in Seoul! If you like Korean spicy, this is the right place to go! For sure! read more

This is a fine establishment if you are not looking to eat authentic Korean food and don't mind paying 20% bump of what it should cost. For some strange reasons, every dishes had cabbage. Korean food does not have cabbage (unless it's Napa cabbage) in dishes like bibimbop, udon, bulging, and soybean paste stew. Their bulgogi was so tough and sweet, it was awful. Also, they charge $3 for side banchan of kimchi, and it tasted like it had been frozen before and it was also over fermented. Also, I think they use peanut oil instead of sesame oil in their food. I've eaten plenty of bad Korean food in my life and this place is definitely one of those places I'm happy to visit... once. read more

Food was excellent, service was fine. Although we were really surprised that they charged extra for kimchi - we have not seen that before at a Korean restaurant. We will come here again. read more

Mediocre Korean food in Jasper. Don't think this food is authentic Korean food. Didn't expected generous banchan(side dish) in Jasper, but YOU HAVE TO PAY for the KIMCHI? no way... read more

Kimchi House - Kimchi Jjigae and rice bowl - Korean Near Me - Jasper, Alberta

The only Korean restaurant in Jasper. Foods were authentic and much better than my expectation. Kimchi jigae, Egg roe role, Bul gal bi were very nice. read more

We were so excited to try out the Korean food. I don't usually write a review. But I have to get it out of my system. Atmosphere was nice. Service was ok. It was the worst Korean food we ever had. No side dishes to start. U hv to order individual dishes. $3 for a small dish of kimchi. No flavor at all! It was terrible. bulgogi was cooked with veg. Taste nothing like bulgogi. read more

Delicious food and friendly staff. We ordered one big seafood hot pot soup, it can serve three or four people and you can order more noodle with five bucks. I come twice in two days and ordered different stuff, all are good. It definitely worth the price. read more

Kimchi House - Korean Near Me - Jasper, Alberta

Do you like Korean food? Or any asian food and always open to try something new? That's the place if you are looking for it in Jasper. The food here is really nice, the staff is very friendly and the restaurant itself is spotlessly clean. They have a big enough range of choices without having an overwhelmingly big menu. They also have meal offers for groups of two, four or six people where you can get a taste of different meals, which is perfect if you're new to korean food or just cannot decide what to get. The prices are fair and reasonable. So if you are in Jasper and looking for some yummy asian food this is the place for you! read more

No free side dish,Everything should be ordered. as other comments, it is pricey. Taste is okay, it is good for tourists not to have only American food. read more

So far so good, nice food but a bit overpriced. We order #5,#7,#23 and we all think that the amount of food is not big enough. We went to grocery store and Timhorton after the dinner. And I don't like their hard and fast rule to charge 15% tip. If you serve good, we would like to give more, but now, it just make me feel uncomfortable, feeling like that they afraid that we give a little tip. read more

Considering this is in the tiny tiny Canadian town, food is surprisingly good. There is no free small dishes to start but the entree portion is big enough. I ordered bibimbap and it's quite tasty. Highly recommend checking this restaurant out if you crave for some Korean food while among the Rockies. read more

Tolerable food if you just happened to crave Korean food while visiting Jasper. The appetizer pork and vegetables pancake was all starch and on the greesy side. The seafood hotpot was fresh, but the kimchi pork hot pot my friend ordered wasn't that great. The kimchi tasted like pickeled Chinese napa cabbage that's previously frozen and then thawed. This is also the first Korean restaurant we've been to that doesn't offer any side dishes at all. If you are from Los Angeles like us, this is completely unacceptable. Who wants to pay extra for non-authentic kimchi on the side? A restaurant that doesn't live up to its name. read more

The food is good but slow service because there are only 3 server and we have to wait a long time for the food to come to the table ! In a busy season like summer, I would recommend that they get more server to guarantee customer satisfaction! read more

First of all, why is this restaurant even called Kimchi House if "kimchi" is not even offered as a complementary side dish? (Was told they charge between $3 to $10, depending on the size) I'm a born-and-raised Korean and every Korean and his cousin will flip out if kimchee, let alone any other side dishes, are not offered with traditional Korean dishes! Seriously! How is "banchan" (side dish) not part of any traditional Korean cuisine? We ordered tofu stew, bone soup, and jampong (spicy noodle soup). All of them were less than desirable. Stew was too watered down and did not come with it's accompanying egg (traditionally, that is part of the dish). Bone soup was also watered down and was more like a watery garlic broth with too much green onions. This soup is supposed to be slow cooked for at least two days so all that all the marrow and collagen become soft and incorporated into the soup. This soup did not even come close to the original. Gosh, need I say more? I hope this place isn't the first and last Korean food experience for you...seriously, it's so much better than this. So give it another go- just not here. :( I give one star because it's clean. read more

Took my family for dinner. Sat on a table at 7:10pm. We were given a menu at 7:15pm and waited another 5 minutes to order. From 7:20pm, I had to ask waitstaff several times whether our orders are on the way. No responses, while they started bring foods to the table came in after us. Forty (40) minutes after I placed an order, which is 8pm, I told them I will wait another 3 minutes and I am out. Haha, of course this totally out of control place did nothing for us and we left after wasting 55 minutes. Nice, huh? Our waitstaff was being apologetic, stating that there is only one cook in the kitchen. However, where is the owner??? The owner should have come out to our table and explain the situation, if that is the case. Giving one star to this place is just too much for them. Not an acceptable place by any stretch and they completely ruined our Jasper experience, period. read more

WORST KOREAN FOOD,EVER!The portion is so small. I ordered Beef hotpot. I literally need a microscope to look for the beef in the pot. Lousy services, and, there are no appitizers, which are offered at every single Korean restaurant that I've been to. read more

I have heard some good reviews about this only Korean restaurant in jasper, so I came here with my family this night and left my first one star on Yelp. The food was mediocre as all Korean restaurant I tried serves better quality food with standard price than this one. Since the price was much higher than normal Korean restaurant so I kind of expect higher quality food and service, however, the service was horrible: we ordered 2 seafood soup and one beef soup. After 15 min waiting we got our seafood soup. We thought the beef soup might come later and 10 min after, when we asked the waitress (the owner I think) replied us that she thought we only ordered 2 seafood soups! How come can three people only order 2 soups?! No apologies and she yelled that almost the whole restaurant can hear her. No regular table check. I understand the restaurant was quite busy with only two waitress (one is the owner and the other always refuse to help, and ask the owner to help us, I guess she thought we speak Korean;() however, I constantly saw the owner was standing there and checking with Canadian or western people, which was really annoying and disappointed. That was not the Korean restaurant I expected. No Korean style side dishes provided, 15% fee already added to the bill (wtf!) horrible service, mediocre food with high price) 1 star for the brave. read more

Service for this place is one of the worst I ever been to. We had a party for 8 and saw 2 empty tables and told them we are willing to split up our party. We waited for 10 min and we had to ask specificly again before they sat us down. After about 40 min the food came. This is the first korean restaurant ive been to with no appetizers. Me and my gf both ordered beef and they were very not fresh and over cooked. Definitely should stay away from this restaurant read more

A great place to have dinner when you' re in Jasper! I had a typical Korean rice noodle soup (with beef) and my husband had spicy chicken with vegetables (don't remember the original name)... both was absolutely great! By the way: Many Koreans eat there. Always a good sign. We will go there another time to taste other meals. read more

We had the vegetarian tofu soup, and the beef soup. The noodles were not fully cooked, and the beef was extremely tough. However, the beef broth was tasty. The service was great. read more

Could've been Five stars, but there was no panch'an included with my Spicy Beef and Tofu soup. I wanted a hot meal after exploring the frigid Icefields parkway in the Jasper area and the Spicy Beef and Tofu soup hit the spot, made extremely spicy to order. They also poured copious amounts of wine into my glass which is an added bonus. read more

So odd but nice that there is actually a Korean restaurant in Jasper, a small town of 4,000+ people with only a handful of restaurants. They seem to prey on tourists like ourselves with criminal prices. Seems like they lack a lot of key ingredients and make do with what they have (kimchi is made with a cheaper kind of cabbage, spinach and sprouts are substituted with broccoli in their bibimbap, etc). Also, there are no side dishes (banchans). Beware, they charge a 15% mandatory tip. I would have still given them the 15% regardless because the service was decent, but thought it would be nice for everyone to be aware of it... I still give them 3 stars because my parents were at a minimum able to satisfy their Korean cravings. read more

Unfortunately, this is my first negative review on Yelp. The food is pretty good! I really enjoyed my meal. It was a bit strange that this Korean restaurant did not serve any side dishes like other Korean restaurants. I know the other people have complained about the portion of the rice, but for me it was standard (a small silver bowl with a cap). The price is a bit high like the other yelpers have said. Sadly, the service was horrible. My family and I always wait for the waiter to approach us to order, drinks, check, etc. However, we sat down for 15 minutes and were still not approached. We then asked to order and was ignored the first time even though the waitress clearly saw us. Please keep in mind that there was only one waitress (the owner) so I understand if she was busy. I only wish she would have been polite and gave me some type of gesture that she would come to us soon. We repeated the process three more times which she kept telling us she'll come back in an extremely rude tone. This was a repeated process for every step: drinks, ordering, check. I understand if it was because she was extremely busy but what annoyed me was the horrible attitude and her lack of multi-tasking. While she kept avoiding us, she was chatting with other customers and kept over-attending a party of 7 (she went to the table once every 5 minutes while avoiding other customers like myself). I think it's because she wanted a large tip from the large party. I'm not one to leave bad reviews but this pissed my family off. 0 stars for the service but 4 stars for the food. Sorry! 2 stars it is. read more

Disappointing. Small dishes and way overpriced. Not good and not coming back ever again. Ordered #7 soup with beef but didn't get any beef. The smaller soup dish ever plus it's boiling on the table in your face. WTF!!! How the fuck am I going to eat boiling soup. Had to wait 15 minutes to be able to try it. I told the owner about the lack of beef in my soup, but she couldn't care less. read more

Great for jasper. Food was excellent. We had many vegetarians and they offered a lot of selections.

Surprised to find it in Jasper. Kimchi soft tofu soup with rice is amazing for me after a tough hiking in rain.

Avoid this restaurant, very bad service. We came in and got menu. We told waitress and we were ready for order. She shouted to us"just wait". She was cleaning up other table. We wait for a few minutes, called her we were ready for order. "Just wait"she shouted again. She started to show a new hired waitress how to clean table and ignore us. We don't understand why customer service were not important for this restaurant instead cleaning up tables are so important! So we started to doubt the cleaning and freshness for their food!We left the table and told the other waiter how we felt. He shrugged and said "bye bye ". I have never seen this kind of bad customer service in jasper's restaurant !!!so,avoid and avoid! read more

What a surprise. We didn't expect to find such good Korean food in a little town like Jasper. Yeah I've got to update my review. This is our go-to place to stop in Jasper. Have been here 3 times and never disappointed. Traditional Korean cuisine (at least I'm assuming it's traditional as I've never been to Korea) from a very nice little Korean family. The last time we stopped there we had to change the kid's diaper. They found us a table in the back to do the deed and made sure we had privacy. So nice. This time we brought 2 kids. They went out of our way to make us happy (2 kids means we're generally not) and the kids even happier. The food as always was great. Bi Bim Bab for me again and the wife got some awesome beef dish. I doubt we'll stop anywhere else in Jasper on our way throughs. read more

This is one of the only Asian restaurants in Jasper. As far as Korean food goes, this place doesn't serve free side dishes - even Kimchi is $3 and a pot of tea is $5. However, the food is very homey and the taste isn't subpar despite limited ingredients. It's more than I expected to get out here. read more

Good food. Everyone in our party liked their dishes pretty well. Bit pricey but not bad for the area. Jasper can be expensive. No free Korean side dishes. Would recommend. Would go again. read more

We were in Jasper for the day, and were glad to find a Korean restaurant. The place itself is very easy to find, right on the main street. Parking was a bit if a hassle, but it's a small town and there were a ton of tourists. I bet the locals love that. Inside, it could use some updating, but I'm there to eat and not to critique on how their interior decorating skills. It was a busy night, there were many tables and many people. Understandably, service was a bit on the slow side when it came to ordering. We were expecting the food to be just as slow, but were pleasantly surprised by the efficiency of the kitchen. We ordered a kimchi jigae and a bibimbop. We were happy with the taste of the food, but the portions were much too small for the price. It's true that I'm what some may refer to as a "rice bucket", however, the portion of rice that came with the meal was pitifully small. It was no more than an unpacked down cup. The entire portion only came to half of the small steel container. I was so hungry, I ended up ordering two more portions of rice at $3 each, and consuming every last bit. Although, the last container, filled by a different waitress, was fuller than the previous two. This leads me to think that it was our waitress who was skimping out on me, however I did see some other reviews with the same complaint. I was still hungry after three bowls of rice, but I wasn't about to pay nearly $10 for just rice, so I decided to call it a night. While this place has pretty tasty food, I don't recommend going hungry. You should get take out, and then go to the Chinese restaurant and get fried rice or something. PS I was expecting panchan. None came out. I haven't been to a Korean place anywhere that doesn't give at least a small dish of kimchee. This is a first. They're really stingy. read more

I normally won't leave review unless I feel that is necessary. I have to say this is the worst Korean restaurant I have ever been. We waited like almost 1 hour before we get our first appetizer. Bibimbap was really good. My son ordered the bulgogi really spicy and after 5 glasses of water and 3 bowls of rice - thoroughly enjoyed it. Perhaps avoid the breaded chicken and vegetables served Chinese style - thick overly sweet sauce ruined it for us. (BTW: We didn't get free kimchi - perhaps because we are not Korean?!) But that's ok, if you want really good Korean food in Jasper this is the ticket. We'd come back in a heartbeat! read more

Super friendly staff/owners. Great kimchi and noodle soup (forgot the name). That's all we ha but everything else looked great too.
