La Crescenta LOVES KimBob (Sushi) Rex! The family who owns it is super nice, and the food is great.

SUSHI REX THE RESTAURANT SOFT OPEN The soft opening is here and fortunately for us, the favorites are still all here. The menu that you know and love from the truck can still be found here. Want to order THE T2? It might not be on the screen, but it's on the menu. MENU This is a little confusing. It's difficult to tell what's going on with the key. C1 means there is crab AND vegetables? The only vegetarian one is V(vegetable)1(vegetables). The back of the menu has a system you can figure out. The letter/number code is probably for order taking and the kitchen. FOOD Great sushi burrito. But you've known this since 2013 on the food truck. Golden balls. New to me. They were yum. Only $2. I'd get those again every time. NEW: Ramyun & Udon I'm usually not a fan of instant noodles outside of my house. But these are DELICIOUS and AFFORDABLE. I think students will want these as an after school snack in the winter months. K-RAMEN Delicious. (Not vegetarian) Mushrooms Scallions Carrot Danmuji (Takuan) yellow pickle Bonito flakes (fish) Dashi style smokey broth NEW: Hand rolls. I didn't try one, but I will be back. Hey! I got 3 burrito rolls, can't eat the menu in one sitting! Wishlist: kimchi Ramyun (secret menu?) DRINKS Assorted American soda Water (Wish list: Banana Milk, Ramune, Calpis) RESTAURANT Situated at the back of a mini mall on Foothill Boulevard, it's a small casual place inside with seating for 20 people inside and a few more tables outside in a small patio area. A clean, single, unisex bathroom is inside the restaurant in the back. The chairs are not uncomfortable, but they aren't designed for a long dinner. Most people tonight we're getting food to go. TO GO / SOFT OPEN I'm not sure if it's the soft open, but everything is still served in to-go containers. (Good because I couldn't finish all three burritos) I don't know the area very well, but google maps tells me Deukmejian Park is pretty close. Might be a good picnic spot. LA CRESCENTA has a new little dinosaur sushi spot. Check it out. read more

If I were to sing this place's praises, it would most definitely be from the rooftops. This is a great little spot to stop in for a quick bite or to slow down and enjoy a quiet place to enjoy your ramen bowl. The customer service is excellent, the staff is kind and very attentive. Admittedly, their prices have increased just a touch, but the food is delicious and hits it out of the park every time!! The shrimp ramen paired wi a refreshing soda always hits the spot. There's both indoor and outdoor seating too. read more

We love this food truck! Not only is the owner so kind and friendly, but he also makes the best sushi burritos. Our favorites are the T-Rex and Phoenix sushi burritos, and we also love the Golden Balls (crab and avocado balls that are lightly fried and topped with eel sauce and spicy mayo). The truck can be found around Burbank five days a week and in Granada Hills one day a week. Check out their Instagram page for the weekly schedule. read more

This place is amazing! Been eating their sushi burritos when they had a food truck and now still come to their restaurant to get sushi. Honestly has to be the best sushi in LA area! There's brick and mortar space is super cute and clean. The owners are so nice, they remember us and it feels like family when we come eat. I always recommend my friends to eat here and I hope you eat here as well. read more

I ordered takeout today after not being back for a while (I was pregnant and couldn't eat raw fish) - it was every bit just as amazing as a year ago. I ordered the Champion and the Phoenix, and they're both DELICIOUS. They're so generous with the amount of fish in the burritos, it's honestly bewildering. The service is also great (they threw in miso soup for me!), and it looks like a fun and chill space for hanging out, too. Truly a hidden gem in La Crescenta. read more

Stopped by for dinner and decided to share a burrito. I think we may have caught them on a bad day because it took them over 20 min to make the burrito...but I get it things happen and luckily we weren't in any rush or anything. Strictly in terms of taste and quality, I can see why so many folks like this place. Food tasted very clean, fresh, and well put together. In terms of portion and price, I do think it's a little on the expensive side, but thats just my personal evaluation. I usually prefer like a poke bowl but this was nice change of pace. Something unique and different. If you like sushi and want to experience sushi in a different way, I do think this place is worth the visit. If you are not that into something different, this place might be a stretch for you but I think you'll still enjoy the food. read more

I'm gonna give these folks the benefit of the doubt. So it's a small location and you can tell their processes is NOT fine tuned. This means that their system from ordering to delivery of the meal needs more work. Simply put, takes long when busy. I waited over 50mins after ordering. And customers ahead of me voiced to be manager of how long they were waiting. Granted the delay is shown through the care they put into the craft. Quality is good. I had the sashimi special and the baked Alaskan. It's heavy but just a perfect amount if you're craving sushi but don't want to pay 50$s I'd come back but due to my last waiting experience I'll come back when they better R&d a quicker turnaround time read more

Tried this place for the first time for a party of 6 and was absolutely blown away by the menu. The size of the burritos are massive!! And the flavor was so amazing. Pricing is comparable to most places "premium rolls" and Kimbobs burritos are easy 2x the size of a premium rolls from any other place. Staff was super friendly to the point you are happy to support them. I will DEFINITELY return and look forward to doing so! read more

KimBob-Rex - Lemonade on a hot day! - Sushi Bars Near Me - Glendale, California

LOOOOVE their food!! It has been a hot minute since I've actually gone to the Granada Hills Grubfest but this food truck was definitely one of my go-tos. I would always get their lobster burrito which is basically just a giant lobster roll! The sauce it comes with is a sweet, kind of teriyaki sauce, that goes so well with this item. They do take a bit of time to make and sometimes they run out of lobster for the day since it's a popular item but it is so good. Highly recommend trying this business!! Service is great and they are the sweetest. They're always at the Granada Hills Grubfest which is also known as Food Truck Row every Friday on Zelzah and Chatsworth. Tons of trucks out there but this one is worth a try if you're into sushi! They also update their Instagram if they won't be at their spot for the night due to whatever last minute stuff is happening. Very convenient! Highly recommend taking it home or eating in the car because there are no seats out here unless you get lucky to sit on a random front window of a shop or don't mind the floor. It can also get cold during this time around! IG: @ammysalamii read more

I love this place. Nicest people best sushi burritos ever! I have been visiting since they were a food truck back in 2012

Sitting here sad because I finished my burrito. I texted to order and got the Golden Ball and Champion Burrito. It was fresh and delicious. The burrito was filling and usually sushi places overdo it with the cream cheese but they added the perfect amount. It was so good. Service was really nice as well! The older couple is always so kind. Will definitely continue to go back. read more

I had this for dinner last night. My first time eating a sushi burrito, and I will say it was good. I got the T3 which is in the picture. Like I said the burrito was good and it was new for me. A few things, if you're in a hurry it is not my first suggestion. I felt service was slow for a food truck. The design of the truck and atmosphere was fine. It's a good truck. I feel they are short on the wasabi and soy sauce. You have to ask for extra to get more than one packet. So, why I go with 4 stars? Because it's a great idea. The food was good and filling, and it was sufficient for a food truck. If you see this truck give it a shot. read more

Great food and friendly people! Sushi burritos are amazing and huge. All of the fish is very fresh. One of my go to spots.

This place is soooooo good. Everything I've tried on the menu so far has been 5 stars! I highly recommend the Best Friend and the Champion sushi burrito. You can't complain about the price being too high because you get what you pay for - the sushi burritos are packed with "meat" and other ingredients (it's not all rice). The quality of the sushi is good, too. I met the owners and every time they have been so nice, friendly, and courteous. They even remembered me when I came back. I can't wait to go back and try everything else on the menu. read more

All of it - GREAT. Took my kids for a quick dinner and they really enjoyed what we ordered. Service was so sweet, fast, friendly, they treated us like we were family. They even gave us some complimentary edamame to munch on while we waited! We had the udon, a California roll, an avocado roll, and spicy tuna crispy rice. All of it was very fresh and affordable. My kids ate up the udon and loved the crispy onions and tempura that came with it. The inside was clean and modern with a couple tables, and there is a small front patio for outdoor dining. We will be back for sure, and will try their famous sushi burritos! read more

Sushi Rex is my new favorite local restaurant. I'm usually kind of a sushi purist and the idea of a "sushi burrito" isn't super appealing. I first went to Sushi Rex with a chef friend visiting from Japan. She loves fusion food and wanted to indulge in some "California sushi". We ordered several sushi burritos one night and each one was delicious! My fave so far is the shrimp green burrito, but the T-Rex and the Fire Eel are both delicious as well. I have not yet tried anything that includes cream cheese - I still have standards! Not only is the sushi very good - fresh fish and tasty combinations - the people working there (and the owner?) are really, really nice. This is a great local find. Give it a try! read more

It was my first time trying Kimbob-Rex the other day and I was so pleasantly surprised! We ordered to go and food was almost ready by the time I got to the restaurant 15 min later. My sister and I ordered 2 sushi burritos, 1 special spicy roll and 2 golden balls-- just for us two. The order took over 20mins but while we waited we were given ginger tea and miso soup to sample. Both delicious. When initially ordered the lady at the cashier told us we ordered TOO MUCH FOR JUST US. We just laughed it off. Little did she know that we were both famished after traveling to and from Duarte. We bodied that sushi. It was delicious! 100/10 I still dream of eating that roll. Highly recommend and I will definitely be back. Before leaving we didn't hesitate to appreciate her service, menu and quality of sushi. She was in awe that there were NO leftovers. read more

I'm not sure how this place doesn't have 5 stars on here because it should!!! I took a 25 minute drive to try this place and it was so worth it. I appreciated the easy parking lot, coming from dealing with parking and meters in the DTLA area. As soon as we walked in, the people working behind the counter greeted us with huge smiles and superb customer service. I'm not even being dramatic, they really were extremely nice. There's tables and chairs for you to sit both indoor and out. I got miso soup and the Spicy Sushi Rex Burrito and OMG it was soooo good! The flavors were smoky and the fish was delightfully fresh. I haven't stopped drooling since leaving this place!!!!! I cannot wait to go back! read more

It's good to see that a food truck can transform into a brick and mortar restaurant. Food was good, Services is excellent and very friendly . restaurant is clean. My only thought was that the pieces of fish could be more sushi size or sashimi size instead of the big chunks that we got. I have a big mouth, but not necessarily that particular size food goes down easily. Wasabi was fresh their sauces that they create are very interesting. They should do well. read more

Seriously Five Stars! How did I even pass this truck up so many times? I drove by it a couple of times on Victory and Buena Vista (in front of Ralphs) and decided to try it one day. Food: I am going to keep it short. Food is EPIC! Just check out their Yelp reviews they ain't lying. I especially love their "Golden Balls" fried on the outside (but not oily) and rice, crab meat and avocado on the inside! YUMMMMM. They also have jalapeno boms and spicy tuna on crispy rice. We have also had their sushi burritos and they are very filing and very flavorful! Their sushi is fresh and melts in your mouth. My favorite is the T-Rex and their Sushi Rex. All their food is $ to $$ money signs. Customer Service: They do take a little longer but you can't rush great food. It ain't no Mc Donalds lol. They have two people working so be patient! Helen is sooo sweet. Parking: I usually park on the street in front or behind their truck. Check out their IG for schedule updates especially around the holiday season. I am definitely a sold customer! read more

We love the sushi burritos. We have been customers since they would come to Granada Hills on Friday nights.

Just discovered this new spot last night... and besides the food... the outdoor table gives me the opportunity to have my little 80 pound monster with me and enjoy a great meal! Love love love the T Rex, the Lobster Roll, and the Phoenix. Very fresh and the sauces that come with the burrito add a great kick elevating the palette and flavor. So happy to have found this as it will become a repeat favorite for me. The size of the burrito is like having the equivalent of 2 sushi rolls. From my experience, 2 standard sushi rolls would cost about $14 each for a total of $28. I paid $17 for the burrito which made me feel like I got a great value! I added the seaweed salad which was fresh and a great compliment to my meal. Really happy to have this now in my neighborhood! Cant wait to keep exploring the menu and support this great business! read more

Today we went in for a Royal Lobster Burrito. I would recommended it. It's a good serving, we ended up sharing it. The owners are very welcoming, you can see them working hard making their orders. When we got there, there was a big phone order before ours, they were able to still get our order out under 10 min. We also had the miso soup. I will be back with my kids since they love miso soup. They also have veggie, cucumber, avocado and California rolls. The place is small but clean and welcoming! read more

The sushi burritos we've ordered were fresh and full of flavor. The nori they use is extra strength and holds up. The Unagi bowl! Rich and flavorful. I can't wait to try other menu items. I waited 45 minutes for two burritos on a Friday night dec29,23. Not sure if that's ok or normal but i was looking for a fast, light, quick meal. Was contemplating on getting Kbbq instead for about the same price, would've been a quick meal and I would've finished before these burritos were done... heck I could've driven to Burbank where my favorite sushi burrito is and driven back and saved time! On the bright side, the burritos were actually good, they tasted great, amazing, and I felt like I got a good portion even though I ate 1.5 burritos and was not 100% full. But unfortunately we won't be back unless it's lunch and there's no one there and we're on a diet and my favorite sushi burrito is too far away to bother going to. Staff were nice, they gave us a miso soup to make up for the wait so I added a star just for that, hopefully soon they'll decorate the walls and stuff to give it more of a branded feel so I don't feel like I'm at the previous restaurants that were there before them. Parking is the best! read more
