My friend and I went here after the movies and decided to try their ice cream. The store itself is small but they have so much to offer from ice cream, candies, fudge, caramel apples, etc. It's location is perfectly located in downtown Elmhurst right next to the movie theatre. It was so hard to choose a flavor but I went with the All-American Two Berry Pie. Talk about YUM! The ice cream itself was so creamy and smooth. The texture was absolutely perfect. In the vanilla ice cream, there was a nice blend of strawberry, Blueberry, and sugared pie crust pieces. It was by far one of the best ice cream flavors I have ever had. The only downside is that they are quite pricy. It was $13 and some odd change for 2 single scoops in cake cones. I personally think that is pretty steep and the portion is just average. I cannot wait to come back to try more flavors as I am a ice cream lover! read more

Only the most amazing ice cream, unique flavors, or spectacular quality will get five stars. So I give Kilwins only three. It's very good. Itd not spectacular. Five star ice cream is worth up to one hour each way drive. So stop in but I wouldn't travel more than a few miles out of the way. It's very expensive for the quality and portion size. There's nothing wrong. I'm just really picky with ice cream with an extremely high bar. Service was fast and very kind. Kilwins is a mixture of ice cream, chocolates and fudge. Everything they have is dipped in chocolate or caramel or both! The gal that helped me today was LOVELY and boxed my treats in a box. I love the smell of this bakery/chocolate/ice cream shop. The smell is awesome. When you enter you immediately get the amazing aroma of chocolate. This was a fun place to stop in to. The restaurant is bright and nicely decorated. They have a very wide variety to choose from. I got two mint cookies and two dark chocolate truffles. The bill came out out to over $7 before tax (not a cheap place). The mint cookie was amazing. Great combination of chocolate and mint flavors. The dark chocolate truffles were average. I would have preferred a sweeter taste. I have tried the ice cream at other locations and can recommend that as well. For a chocolate shop that usually kills it, I recommend Kilwin's. read more

It is located in downtown Elmurst right by the movie place. They even have a small patio outside where you can sit and enjoy your treats. I walked inside and that sweet aroma of per paradise of chocolate, fresh nuts and all other good smells hit my nose. I was like a deer stuck in a highlight of goodies. The display of various types of Taffy Apples, every kind of chocolate marshallows and candy. They even sale fudge and Ice cream. You can even watch one of the staffs behind the counter prepare the treats. I ended up purchasing a Caramel Apple with various of nuts. The girl asked if I wanted her to cut my taffy apple. Of course, sure. She cut the pieces in nice halves sizes for me to enjoy each slice. Let me tell you when I bit into one of the slices. O Boy juice flew every which way. When I used to live in The Chicago area, Kilwins was our go to place for ice cream. It's a little more expensive, about $15 for two scoops of ice cream and two waffle cones, but well worth it! My fiancé needed to get her peppermint ice cream fix while we were back home for the holidays. Kilwins has one of the best chocolate chip cookie dough ice creams I've ever had. And then near the back is their ice cream section, with all of their interpretation of classic ice cream flavors that was made at one of their stores in Michigan. Yes, the price is high. I'm not much of a fudge person so I didn't really get a chance to look at the price but the ice cream ran about $5 a scoop for a waffle cone and $7.50 for 2 scoops and the milkshakes were also about $7 something. Like someone mentioned already, they really do pack in the ice cream so in a sense, you do get your moneys worth. I tried a couple of flavors before deciding on the banana fudge pie. Even though I'm not a huge fudge person, it had the right amount of chocolatey richness. All I can say is that you can taste the quality of the ingredients. Hands down best ice cream in the U.S. The ice cream was so creamy and blew my previous top ice cream spot (Handel's) out of the water. Super friendly staff and so many delicious ice cream options (in addition to their other treats). I tried the Kilwin's Tracks, Elmhurst Mud, Cake Batter, and Marshmallow S'mores -- all top notch ice cream flavors. Since they utilize younger staff, they could advise them to notify customers accordingly. ie "We'll be with you shortly", "Give us a few", etc. Their chocolate treats and fudge are delicious. I've been rationing the Chicago turtle fudge slice since purchase almost two weeks ago. Cutting thinner than a slice of cheese if you can imagine. And, err, other times as wide as a Twix bar. Also picked up a couple of chocolate confections for a small gathering. They were cut and left out. Both were sweet items (marshmallow & rice crispy treat) dipped, covered in nuts and caramel. Delectable treats. They were gone so quickly I never got a second look. Now about their ice creams, why don't they use descriptions cards? There's a small white card that indicates the name but it could be used for so much more. On a recent visit I had my nieces in tow. Two of us got single scoops and the youngin' requested a double! TBH, not a fan. It was ice cream for sure, the flavor just wasn't satisfying. The kids ate half and chucked the rest.. If only we spent that twenty-something dollars on more fudge instead.. psshaw. This place is great! I was just walking past when the chocolatier in the window drew my attention. I went inside and the smell and aesthetics were on point. I felt like a child in a chocolate shop. They had a little bit of everything. I got some Cashew Tuttles, Chocolate dipped pretzels and chocolate dipped Oreos with Thanksgiving decorations on each. I did not manage a picture of the tuttles as my friend and I devoured them. Overall, it was the experience that will make me come back. WOW! If I could give this place more than 5 stars, I would! Came here last night for an "Ice Cream Experience" I won't quite forget. First off, being a dedicated "sweets lover," this place had me impressed when I first walked in. Employees behind the counter making fresh chocolate, racks of chocolate treats in the middle and a counter of all different types of freshly made chocolate. It was love at first sight but my mission yesterday was ice cream so I headed straight back to the ice cream counter. All of the staff was very friendly and pleasant. I tried a few different samples of ice cream that didn't jump out at me but based off the recommendation of one of the employees, I tried the Marsh'mallow smores. It blew my mouth into a whole nother dimension so of course I walked out with a scoop of that in a waffle cone. The ice cream was perfect combination of ingredients with a delightful crunch with a nice overtone of soft chocolate chips. The taste of course is the best part but here's what I likes the most, it was FILLED all the way down to the bottom! Most ice cream parlors take a scoop and pop it right on top & that's it but I had ice cream throughout my ENTIRE waffle cone which is something I haven't had in a while! Well worth the price.
