    The cannoli cake.. SO GOOD!
    Natalie H.

I got their cannoli cake and I absolutely loved it. It's a light and fluffy yellow cake with cannoli cream filling and iced with vanilla buttercream. The outside of the cake has crushed pistachios. I think it's a perfectly balanced cake. The cake was nicely moist maybe because of the cannoli cream, and it was really light and airy. I love buttercream, especially a sweet buttercream and the buttercream on this cake is sweet like a birthday cake would be. I really enjoyed this cake and would recommend. The lemon mascarpone cookies were also delicious. Very fresh and soft with a light delicate and crisp glaze. They melt in your mouth!

I wasted over an hour going there and then returning this pastry thing. ‼Went to Lezzas spumonia and desserts to get an advertised eclair... They're very proud of their ‼REDNECK ECLAIRS... A LONG JOHN WITH TWO DIFFERENT NASTY CREAMS INSIDE ECLAIRS are filled with CUSTARD, and top with chocolate ganache. The person they think is a BAKER ASSURED ME THAT EVERYONE LOVED THEIR PRODUCT... Go online anywhere and find a recipe and it calls for traditional custard made with eggs and cream.... An airplane is not a boat and a car is not an airplane AND THIS GARBAGE IS NOT AN ECLAIR.... AND THEY SHOULD BE BARRED FROM ADVERTISING IT AS SUCH AND DECEIVING PEOPLE WHO DON'T KNOW ANY BETTER I'm not being harsh on factual... Can't speak for the rest of your product and I would come back and try it But it'd be really nice if they can make a freaking TRADITIONAL ECLAIR AND NOT SCREWED UP SO FREAKING BAD Said they have something negative reviews okay

Lemon cookies tasted like pine sol. The others were tasteless and dry

My sister bought a Canoli cake here for my niece wedding. Also, a tray of Italian cookies. Let me start by saying this was the worst canolli cake I have ever had.it was mostly butter cream .we couldn't even taste the canolli in it. Second, the cake was so dry and crumble and tasteless. Also, it was supposed to be a layer of yellow cake and a layer of chocolate cake. It was all chocolate. It's absolutely terrible!! The cookies were also Unedible. The lemon cookie tasted like a pine sol. It was disgusting!! I don't understand how you call yourself an Italian bakery?? As an Italian, it's really disappointing how awful your product is. Beware using this bakery for cakes or cookies. They got their name on the Italian ice and spamoni ice cream. They should stick with that , leave the real baking for the Italian bakery that knows how to make the products.

Amazing cakes! The construction cake they made for my son's 3rd birthday party was mind blowing! And tasted amazing too!!

This is really disappointing. I sent an email and was confirmed over the phone for a birthday cake request and they did not do what I asked for at all. It was a mess. Thanks for nothing!

I needed some sweets for some out of town guests and decided that they would probably enjoy some Italian classics. I was really impressed with the I was surprised when I came in and had two teenage employees instantly greet me and ask if I needed help. One of the girls even offered to freshly fill my cannolis which was a very nice touch. For 12 assorted cookies, 4 cannolis, and 3 pints of gelato, it was about 29 bucks. Not too bad!

As far as Italian bakeries go, does Lezza's outshine all others in terms of authenticity? This was my burning question and I needed to put out the fire... I mean, we all know they've been killing the wholesale market for decades upon decades, but that's another story... Knowing the name Lezza is famed in the Italian dessert world of Spumoni, Cannoli and Italian Ice since 1905 (yes, over a century) without a doubt, they're doing some things right. After moving its retail shop from Bellwood to Elmhurst, I was in need of dessert for a dinner party and headed straight for the cases to find ANY traditional ITALIAN pastry I could... Nope. I wasn't here for Italian Ice or Spumoni... No doubt you've seen the name in the freezer section of select grocers; various gelatos & Ice. The cannoli you just ate at the restaurant your dining at, it was probably from Lezza's too. Its a name many have grown up with and have associated with authentic Italian treats.....many except me. Only thing I remembered about Lezza's was their Spumoni, a treat I haven't had in years... My Selection: Sfogliatelle (aka Lobster Tail), Napolean, Monachini (named Monageen here - semi open faced pastry filled w/either cannoli or custard, I chose cannoli) & 1 Cannoli. Tiramisu, Pasticcioti, Rum Baba, Tartufo and Cannoli cakes were Italian classics featured as well. Americanized desserts displayed: various cheesecake slices, cakes, muffins, brownies, cupcakes, coffee cakes and danishes. Another case with assorted Italian cookies and one with gelato. Various flavors of Italian ice. They use Lavazza for their espresso and cappuccinos. Now - there are a few outstanding old school bakeries my family & I have been going to for YEARS, so I know what I like. When it comes to custard and cannoli, I am VERY particular and this is the standard by which I always judge a good Italiano bakery. If you grew up as a 1st generation Italian, your probably picky too...there was simply no way to escape them as they were at every family function, celebration or dinner table... There were 4 girls working behind the counter and service was efficient and helpful with a fair amount of customers inside..as well as a few occupying tables while enjoying their treats... Plenty of tables, bar stools along the wall and a separate room for private parties. They keep this place spotless. Wanting to sample the gelato, I tasted the Cannoli flavor. It was more vanilla than anything. They make a seasonal Cinnamon Vanilla (fyi) I was hoping to try, but it wasn't offered. I grabbed 4 Italian Cookies - Chocolate Nut, Lemon Cookie, Soft Biscotti w/dried fruit & nuts and Paste Burro..none of which were memorable. The chocolate in the Chocolate Nut was so mild and cookie was dry. Lemon Cookie had a forward lemon flavor from the icing alone that threw me off...The Biscotti was soft and not bad...Paste Burru is a butter cookie and was topped with pistachio crumbles...just ok. Cookies were very mediocre to me. As far as the pastries, they were very fresh but I was not impressed AT ALL and neither were my non Italian friends. If I had to choose one, it would be the Cannoli. Crispy shell, filling was thicker & a little sweeter for my taste when I really just want that whipped ricotta to shine...The ricotta is everything in a cannoli for me. Wasn't the best I've had, but not bad. While the Sfogliatelle (lobster tail) looked gorgeous and visually perfect, the end result was disappointing. Beautiful layers of crispy, flaky pastry, but after one bite - crunch was all I heard. Overkill on the crunch. The filling - - sparse. Little custard with candied lemon. I was hoping for more here. Traditionally, these can be filled with French or whipped cream or custard. This didn't leave me wanting more... Napolean was the sore loser of them all. The flaky pastry layers were ok. Instead of being layered with custard, this was layered with what reminded me of a sweet buttercream. I've ONLY ever had Napolean's with custard. I'm all for variation, but it missed every mark for me. After my purchase, a friend and I grabbed a cappuccino and split a slice of Key Lime Cheesecake. We both felt it was overly sweet and not the creamy light texture we were hoping for...I stopped after 2 bites. We were told everything is scratch made, cheesecake included.. Cookies - $10/lb. or .48 cents each. Pastries - $3.25 each. Cannoli - $2.25. Having grown up with Italian cookies and pastries, I'm going to be a tough critic. Honestly, Chicago Pastry (formerly Turano bakery) was better. You, on the other hand may love the Italian (or other) offerings... Heaven knows they don't need my business! *inserts giggle* 3 stars for a good cannoli and very friendly, helpful service.. May Lezza's "Live Long" and continue to prosper.

The ice cream flavors were tasty. The Mango Lassi was better between the two. It captured the taste of Lassi nicely. I have had better Ube flavor ice cream elsewhere. As for the donuts, they were nice in general but a bit too sweet for my liking (except for the Oreo Cake one). My favorite donut was the Oreo Cake one followed by the Tropical Mango one. Overall, I had a nice experience. I recommend checking out Sweet Circle, if you haven't before.

Let me start by saying that we're a huge fans of small businesses and want to see them succeed…read more I've also worked in plenty of restaurants and coffee shops in my day. Definitely not trying to be a hater. My friend and I were on our way home from Chicago, looked up some bakeries along our route. We stopped here to get some goodies to take home to family, and to snack and have a coffee while we drove 6 hours. My friend ordered: white chocolate coconut latte, 2 donut holes, a strawberry, a salted caramel, and a pink velvet cupcake. I ordered: chocolate pretzel iced latte, a big chocolate chip cookie, tropical fruit (?) danish, coconut, pink velvet, and French silk cupcakes. I'd say between the two of us we probably spent $60+? Walking in the shop is adorable and colorful, an employee had a brightly colored tie dye shirt on and we said hello to them first, commented on how much we liked their shirt, and barely got a response back, let alone a greeting. The employee at the counter wasn't rude but definitely not overly eager to greet or offer up information. Questions were answered when we asked, that was it. When I received my iced latte I asked if they had any straws and just got a head shake in response. Totally fine with no straw, but my friend found a stir stick for me, which was honestly the main reason I wanted a straw so I could stir up what was clearly sitting on the bottom of the cup. Lattes were fine. We tried the chocolate chip cookie in the car and the texture was good, crispier on the edges and the middle was chewy enough. But it tasted very bland, so we didn't finish it. A little while later we decided to try the donut holes, they had good flavor but they were so dry and crumbly, presumably because they were sitting out in the open air, who knows for how long. Also didn't finish those. Even later we decided to try the salted caramel cupcake because I'd read on the case that they had Swiss meringue buttercream so I was really excited about that, and thought for sure this would be where they would excel. While the flavor of the cake was fine, I wouldn't say it tasted like salted caramel, there was some kind of cream in the middle that was good, again not salty or caramely. But that was the heaviest, most dense cupcake I've ever had, and not in a good way. The buttercream was good, and the caramel drizzle on top did taste salty. My husband was so excited that I was bringing home that tropical fruit danish and the coconut cupcake. We tried the coconut cupcake together and again, it had a lot of actual coconut in the batter, it was dense but also dry. We abandoned the cake and ate buttercream, which was good but not coconutty. So we moved onto the French silk cupcake. This cake had a great texture, light and soft, good flavor, some kind of chocolate mousse in the middle was good too. Again, good buttercream, but the top had a bunch of dry, flavorless pie crust chunks all over it. I understand that it was supposed to mimic a French silk pie, but it was such a good cake without the crust chunks. My husband had his pastry today (next day) and though dry he said the middle was good, other than the pineapple in the middle he couldn't taste any other flavor. We tried the pink velvet after dinner tonight and again with the super heavy and dense cake texture, no real flavor, but the cream cheese frosting was yummy. I cannot say how the other cupcakes were, as my friend was so disappointed in the one we shared and the report we gave her about the ones we tried, that she hasn't eaten them. Ultimately the French silk one was the only item that was eaten completely. Keep making that buttercream, it was the best part of everything we bought. I sincerely hope your employees weren't having a hard day, I try to be understanding that you never know what someone is going through, but that's the only reason I can think of for them to be so completely disinterested in helping or talking to paying/tipping/polite customers.

I do think $22 for a sandwich and coffee is a bit expensive, but I'm always very satisfied with my meal. It does come with a large side of home fries, but I usually end up not eating them, so I'd love to see more side options to choose from. Also had cupcakes catered a few months back including some gluten free options and they were all a big hit. Definitely on the expensive side, but they were good quality and absolutely devoured. The environment is always welcoming and open plus the staff are very kind.

The service was nice as the girl was kind but she didn't seem to understand me well and she didn't know if the coffee was Turkish or not. Therefore, I ordered an Americano with their homemade pistachio sauce. It was a nice beverage. I also ordered a Turkish bread with ground beef. It too was delicious, hot and fresh. Pricing was on par with other gourmet cupcake places. Nice to have this option in Downtown Elmhurst.
