Well this place keeps getting the awards. Recently it was named one of the best local "dives" in the USA in of the seafood mags. That's not why we go. We live nearby and we are picky about our food and this place gets our business a lot. In particular I like the Tuna soft tacos. I love good sauces and the taco sauce is perfect for their fried-to-perfection fries as well. You should also try the shrimp - my daughter says this is the only place that does them right. And the bread bowls are excellent. They are also doing whole fried lion fish right now. Enjoy. But come early. It's a dive, remember, and it's kind of small but don't let the building spoil your fun. read more

Yep! This is a favorite of the locals, the snow birds, vacationing folks, and military folks at Tyndall AFB. I see why. We got the Killer Tacos and a scallop basket with hushpuppies and slaw. It did not disappoint! The portions were plentiful, the food was delicious. We did not have room for dessert but have heard their Key Lime pie is out of this world! We've been to Mexico Beach twice this year, eating at Killers both times. Highly recommend, excellent food. Only downside is the "cash only" requirement. This can be challenging for tourists with limited cash on hand. read more

We were referred by a local that said to try the grouper tacos , which we really liked . Nice option to have topped with either lettuce and tomato or with slaw so we went with the slaw - really really good . Well, we were really looking forward to this restaurant, but very disappointed. We were obviously new, but no one offered to let us in one the secrets.... 1. you must find your own table (it is dark and it was crowded!, yes I know it is small, but it is dark and the only available table was at the back 2. you must pick up your own menus, 3. after you get your menu, then you must go place your order (no, i'm not lazy and I don't mind doing this, but NO ONE explained the operation here!) We had the fresh catch, market price, grouper. The grouper was the best thing we had, but it was unseasoned (no salt in cooking it), the coleslaw had an odd flavor, which I could not figure out, and the hush puppies were ok, but nothing to rave about. My family and I moved here back in 2015 and decided to try this restaurant while in Mexico Beach. The wait wasn't bad, the hostess took our orders and seated us. Our server was a bit short with us but she could of been having a bad day, other servers picked up what she lacked by refilling our drinks, and checking on us. I had the 2 combo with the fresh catch, and the crab cake. Their hush puppies were my favorite though, they have a bit of a kick. We also got a slice of pecan and a slice of key lime pie. Stopped for lunch, we had our two Cairn Terriers with us so we sat on the patio. The server brought a bowl of water out for the pups with our drinks. We both ordered the fried shrimp basket, and everything was excellent. The shrimp we're lightly breaded, and were some of the best I've ever ate. My favorite place to eat in Mexico Beach. From grilled fish tacos to fried whole fish to scallops simmered with rice and spicy tomato sauce -- if it's seafood, and you get it from Killer, it's going to be amazing. They've always got a Catch of the Day which is anything they pull from the Gulf or bay that is in season. Last time I went, they had whole lionfish and soft shell crab. Wonderful seafood in a casual atmosphere. You sit, choose from the menu, then place your order at the counter. I've seen this before and it doesn't bother me a bit, especially if the seafood is as good as it was at this place. I ordered the grouper tacos and they were simply awesome! One issue was my husband ordered the grilled Wahoo po boy and they brought him a fried grouper po boy, which they comped us for. Totally appropriate. My advice is the owner (who actually took the order) slow down and actually listen to what is being said to her. I was standing right there and heard my husband order his food quite plainly, so I don't know who screwed up, but she came over to our table to somewhat debate the issue. Great beach food experience. Be aware - cash only. There's an ATM next door, but you probably want to get cash on your way. We had the Shrimp and Scallop Killer Seafood dish - and it was great. Be aware that this is almost a shrimp and scallop soup over pasta or rice. Everyone enjoyed it. Service was perfect. Our orders were taken 5 minutes before our table was ready, so when we sat down, the wait was minimal. Beer was cold. Fish salad appetizer was fresh and obviously home made. After so many favorable reviews, we were expecting much more from this restaurant. For us, it wasn't killer at all. My wife's fresh grouper dinner was not good. It was over cooked, the cole slaw was awful and the fries were way too salty. She said it tasted like fast food. My shrimp bowl with rice in their simmering sauce was pretty good but not anything really special. There sure was a lot of it in a huge bowl though. For the cost of this dinner, just under $40, it was way over priced. The service was just average. We will not return. read more

Stopped in for lunch while house hunting in Mexico beach. The first thing I noticed was the music. They were playing a song that is in steady rotation on my iPod but I don't know any other humans who know of the band much less that particular song. I asked and they said they were playing satellite radio because you can't get music like that on the radio here. Huh. I'll take it as a good omen. The other yelp reviews and the lady who helped me recommended the fish tacos. Against my better judgment I ordered them. Though I think fish tacos sound interesting I have been unimpressed by them the few times i have had them in other parts of the country. But, what's life for if not to learn the same lessons over and over? This turned out to be a new lesson though. That lesson is that THESE FREAKING FISH TACOS ARE AWESOME! In the world of fish tacos, Killer Seafood is sort of a big deal. I've eaten all varieties of these delicious little pockets of flavorful delight, and I honestly can not remember enjoying one more than the one I ate 3 minutes ago. The tortilla was surprisingly high quality, and the grilled tuna was UNGH (onomatopoeia) good. Please please please cover and smother whatever you order in their house made Hot Sauce, as it's not actually hot but rather garlic-ish and vinegar-ish and contributes on so many levels to your dining experience. Whatever is your spirituality, you'll be thanking your personal version of God or the devil for such a wonderful, not quite forbidden, piece of passionate gustatory satisfaction. We were treated very poorly here and ended up walking out after two hours of waiting and the hostess accidentally giving away our table twice. This place has rude employees, bad service, cash only, long waits, and is not for groups at all. We are a family of seven and they acted like it was a HUGE inconvenience for us to be there. The staff here could not be more rude.... except for Hal who helped us get a great table. The servers, however, could learn a lot from a customer service class. Telling a customer that"you're killing me" while I'm trying to move out of your way is RUDE in case you didn't know. The words "thank you" and a smile could go a long way. CASH ONLY!!!!!! Excellent seafood. I had the fresh caught grouper special and my wife had the grouper fish tacos. My fish was some of the best grouper I've had, thick portion, not over breaded, and obviously freshly caught. The tacos were the same. The fries and hushpuppies were ok, and completely overshadowed by the grouper. The hot sauce on the table was the biggest surprise -- obviously home made, not very hot, with a definite horseradish taste. So good we bought a bottle to take home. Prices are what I would consider normal for a beach restaurant : $15 for the grouper, hushpuppies and fries. $10 for two fish tacos. While the portions seemed small for the price at first, I was stuffed by meal's end and the I don't mind paying for excellent food, which this was. Remember, cash only. read more

A fantastic place with a great local vibe. The staff are very friendly and take pride in their food. We sat at the bar and talked to the staff. We listened to the guy at the door who greets you and only allows people in based on the size. Plan to wait if you get here after 6p. Yelp, you led us to this place and you were right. Killer Seafood is your typical beach restaurant which happens to be excellent. We ordered the seafood tacos and the shrimp basket which other reviewers correctly critiqued. They were delicious. A must mention is that they make their own hush puppies which are to die for. The coleslaw is also very good. I'm not a fan of a lot of vinegar in my coleslaw and this place didn't fail me. Killer Seafood only accepts cash as payment. Very friendly and attentive staff. The only thing we would change is the music and maybe put some paper towels on the table, but that might be just us. Fun place! read more

BEST soft shell crab I have EVER had!!! We went back for lunch the following day & I got the Tacos with cole slaw on them...... OMG Can you say Heaven? We called them asking if we could make a to go order for 11 plates and they said they wouldn't be able to take the order over the phone but they could at the restaurant. We drove there and waited in a line to order our food. We were greeted by unfriendly workers who then explained we wouldn't be able to eat there because they couldn't accomadate 11 plates. Would have had no problem with this if they would have told us this over the phone. Save your time and go to shripwrecks, the food there is amazing. They also only accept cash witch reminds me of the 1970's, just like their tiny dining area. read more
