It took everything I had not to say something right then. People with Down syndrome deserve the same dignity, respect, and kindness as everyone else. There is no excuse for humiliating or making fun of someone because of a disability--especially while you're at work representing a business. I politely asked if we could push the tables together so our entire family could sit together, especially since our twins share food. Her response? They weren't allowed to move the tables because of management. EXCUSE ME?! The entire seating area was empty! I explained that it would have been nice to know that BEFORE we ordered our food. We are on a family vacation, and the last thing we expected was to be treated like an inconvenience for simply wanting our family to sit together. She then proceeded to push the tables together while making a scene, saying she would just "take the heat from management." She also told us that if we wanted to sit together, we should have gone to Sisters Restaurant around the corner because they accommodate larger parties. Are you SERIOUS?! So we're being told to take our business somewhere else because we have children and want to sit together? Absolutely ridiculous! A few minutes later, two other employees came back, looked at our tables, and literally HUFFED because they had been pushed together. At this point, I had ENOUGH. As I tried to explain what had happened, the response I received was, "Well, your tables are together, so what's your deal?" MY DEAL?!
