Simple down home cooking, lots of locals, old school diner booths and tables, quick and friendly service... the country style food is what makes this place a hidden gem. Not a huge menu, but if you want a REAL club sandwich done right, or some amazingly delicious fried catfish, this is your place. The salad bar was good too; fresh lettuce and your typical nostalgic toppings (canned peaches, bac'n bits, broccoli, sunflower seeds, cranberries, French dressing) The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because anytime I see a 5 star review, I expect the ambiance to be on point, and while I'm personally quite happy and comfortable dining in home style places like this, I know not everyone is, so I think 4 stars is more realistic for what to expect. read more

Stopped by one morning for their breakfast. I order egg, bacon, and grits. The grits were a little lumpy, but the eggs and bacon were good. Service was great, but had one server waiting tables, seating tables, and cashiering; they could have used another staff member for the front of the house. Came with 2 eggs, biscuit (near cake LOL), Grits, and 4 sausage patties. So much food I skipped lunch. The Friday night seafood buffet is incredibly priced, and there are many options. Some of the best tender catfish filets I've had. The fried chicken on the buffet was worth the price alone!!! Excellent hushpuppies. I know that is odd to comment on, but they seem to be scratch made and are delicious. The chicken that was on buffet was old/spoiled. if a cook/chef could not smell that odor they have no reason to ever be in a kitchen. I'm really worried I am going to become ill. I ate a small piece of the breading and pretty sure some of the skin. read more

The food was delicious. The staff were very friendly. The burger patty was obviously made in house and was great. The buffet had a variety of seafood and was enjoyed by my husband. We went for the buffet on a Sunday afternoon. It was 30 minutes before closing so they told us to get what we wanted because they were taking up the buffet. That was fine but the food was sub par. Everything was overly salted and greasy. There were 4 of us and all said the same thing. We won't be back. We had a good breakfast there a while back and it was definitely better. Bristol is small town Florida, and for most folks, the Apalachee Restaurant is a place you drive by while passing through headed to somewhere else. This is a good place to stop and take a break from behind the wheel and enjoy some friendly hospitality and good old school Southern cooking. Their buffet confirms that good Southern cooks take frying to an art form. The lunch buffet during my visit included deep fried salt pork slices, fried chicken, fried squash, and fried cornbread. All perfectly done. It wouldn't be dinner in the south without sides such as butter beans, greens, stewed tomatoes, rice and gravy. Iced tea, salad bar and a selection of desserts are included in the buffet price of roughly $10 & change. Good folks, good food, good value. read more

I come to Bristol every once in a while for work and a few times have eaten at Apalachee Restaurant. This is a local family owned place with lots of southern food. The menu is standard, but most people come here for the buffet. There are your typical fried chicken, baked chicken, greens, rice, green beans and what not options. There is also a salad bar with a decent amount of toppings and dressings. I usually get a salad with olives, tomatoes, cheese, croutons and bacon bites along with ranch poured on top. There are usually a few dessert options as well such as cakes or bread pudding. You probably won't be spending more than $10 here. The crowd is unique to say the least because you never know what you are walking into. Staff is super nice though and always welcome everyone inside. Overall it is nothing amazing and the food is average country cooking. With few options that are not fast food in the area, it is worth a stop to get a taste of small town Bristol. read more

I would give it 3.5 stars if it were an option, very homey I just wish for it being such a small town the food was a bit more fresh. If I'm in the mood for something quick and American I will definitely visit again. read more
