When traveling to different places and trying different restaurants, I appreciate a wait staff that works with you in order to get you fed. We got that here. We had a party of eight people, and the wait would have been quite a while (40 - 60 minutes by his estimation) but the guy at the door taking parties let us sit outside on the large picnic table. Evidently a lot of people refuse this option, but he let us get seated in less than 30 minutes. It was getting to be sunset and with the softening light and ocean breeze set the stage for a wonderful meal. Soft shelled crabs for one kid, fish tacos for my wfe, and I got the three combo of grilled shrimp, bay scallops and catch of the day fish. There were duplicates across the board, but all eight (including the pickiest "I only eat chicken" kid) loved their food. Killer lives up to its name. Everything was perfect and delicious! Yum!!! My husband and I had the fried shrimp and grouper which was delicious! I don't often eat fried food but this was great! Definitely recommend eating here once on your trip! Get here early as there was a line before it opened - great outdoor seating if weather is good. read more

Arrived at 5ish on a Sunday. 5 minute wait. Hostess outside was delightful young lady. Inside has a real biker bar feel to it. I kinda felt like I was "the new guy" at the biker bar. There is a very good reason why Coastal Living recommended the fish tacos at Killer Seafood; they are awesome! They are not over priced and the tuna was cooked perfectly! Killer Seafood is a must if you are stopping into the Mexico Beach area. The smoked seafood dip was great too; worth the add on. Love the wit on the menu for the "litter" of hush puppies but didn't enjoy the actual hush puppies that much. The place closes down from 2-5 so you'll have to plan well for your lazy beach day lunches. read more

We arrived just a couple of minutes after they opened and all of the tables inside were already taken. No problem though, it was slightly overcast and a nice ocean breeze made the outdoor seating comfortable. We ordered the calamari as an appetizer, the killer bowl with shrimp, grouper fish tacos and shrimp basket. Everything was fresh and super tasty! Although this is definitely a local favorite, it is also a tourist favorite. They are always busy. With that said, everyone I know locally LOVES this place...except me. I'm not crazy about their batter, and most of their stuff is spicier than I like. When we went, there was no wait staff, so you had to wait for your order to be called and pick it up. Personally, I expect more from this calibur restaurant. With that said - I am the ONLY person I know that feels this way! Since Killer has opened, they have stayed packed. All the locals I know love this place, and it's one of the first places they'll take their out of town guests to eat. You should absolutely try this place. When I'm out of town, I always prefer a local restaurant, and Killer Seafood is one of the few local restaurants that stay busy all year round. read more

When we placed our order at the bar we saw 2 different cooks on their phones texting. Just curious, what are the food handling codes here? When we sat down, the server brought us our drinks and food when it came but we did not see her again. No refills. The fried shrimp was ok, but the scallops were teeny and overcooked which left them with not much flavor. Had to go up to the bar for a refill and a to go box since no one came and checked on us. A local dive for sure. But like them all, if it wasn't good it wouldn't still be there. I had the Killer Fish Tacos and they were great. Only one recommendation: ask them to go light on the shredded cheddar. The cheese was a bit overpowering of an otherwise great fish taco. Maybe it was my taste-buds that day? Who knows. But when I go back, and I will be going back, I will probably ask them to go light on the cheddar or serve it on the side. The food is quite literally be the best sea food I have ever had. The scallops are the best I've ever eaten, everything about them was delicious. In addition to the scallops, I had the grilled shrimp too. I was surprised by the taste of them, because they were on a whole different level than any other grilled shrimp I had. The only food I didn't enjoy was their signature "special sauce", because it was amazingly underwhelming. The only reason I gave this place 4 stars is because of the set-up. The building seats about 40 people, but the amount of people waiting at a time is about 100-200. It take around 40-an hour to get a seat, then about another hour to get your food. Besides the wait and the uncomfortable feel to this restaurant, it is most likely the best sea food restaurant I've ever eaten at. read more

The fish tacos were pretty good--not the best but not the worst. They're small and you only get two and they cost $9.99, which I thought was a bit much for so little food. The scallops ($11.99) were tasty and came with what I envision as the perfect beach fries--thick cut, slightly crispy on the outside but mushy on the inside. All the sauces at the restaraunt appear to be homemade--the tartar sauce was delicious, the cocktail sauce not too overpowering, and a house-made hot sauce that wasn't so much hot as it was flavorful. This place was awful! The wait was long, the crab cakes were obviously frozen and mostly bread, boiling them in hot oil doesn't help! The fried grouper was okay but not seasoned at all! The fried shrimp was okay and the waiter was helpful. The music was loud and the place didn't look clean. This place was highly recommended and we had high hopes, but we just didn't like it. Really good food at a decent price only let down by a wait staff that was more than a little pushy about getting us out of there at closing time---on 4th of July weekend. The Killer Shrimp is pretty delicious and definitely a thumbs up...my wife got the shrimp and those were pretty awesome as well. Also can't beat $3 Yuenglings. This is one of those places I could see ending up on Diners, Drive in's, and Dives! It a hole in the wall joint which found success quite some time ago and id chugging at full speed. The building is tiny, having maybe a dozen tables that seat four each though crowded. But food, the service and the atmosphere are exceptional. We were here on vacation for a week and ate here twice. They have a sauce which is incredible, and they sell it by the jar even. My first meal there was this, a huge bowl of it with shrimp and rice. I still have dreams about it. The second time I had a shrimp basket, with fries and puppies. It was also excellent. The service is very outgoing and friendly, adding to the experience. This is defiantly one of those special places you can not pass up. read more

Every time we go to St Joe's Beach we make sure to eat at Killer Seafood. The food is always excellent and the people working there are the best. I have a shrimp allergy but the shrimp in simmer sauce is worth the itching. The only bad thing I can say about the place is that it's usually packed. We were lucky enough to get a table Sunday at lunch. Now 3 days later Hurricane Michael comes through and I heard Killer Seafood didn't make it. I hope that's not the case.
