There are so many great coffee shops opening in Charlotte! Killer coffee is up there with the best of them. First off- it is located inside resident culture. A huge open space, so during a weekday, there was plenty of seating available. The coffee menu was not overwhelming and I knew I wanted the Pumpkin latte from the start. I had seen it on Instagram and noted a lot the ingredients were either home made or local. The flavors of the drink really did shine! It was a nice mix of spicy fall flavors with creamy milk. It was better than Starbucks in my opinion (and it's local.. so a win!!). A small pumpkin latte will run you about $6. I also had a bite of a breakfast taco. Wow! Yum! The tortilla was extra fluffy- I love when the are like that. I chose to have egg and chorizo filling and both were present in high quantities. The taco was about $6 also. Fast and friendly service! I can't wait to go back!

Amazing Food ~ I was in Charlotte for work for a couple of days and got stuck trying a couple of different places out for breakfast/lunch and Killer Coffee really stood out. The lattes and food were both amazing! I defiantly want to come back and bring my friends.

Sublime coffee shop located inside resident culture. Great coffee and tacos to enjoy before it's time to have a beer. I ordered a latte and a chorizo taco. It's pretty popular here, so the wait was longer than I had expected, but once they arrived, it was top notch all the way around. The latte was smooth with a slightly bitter kick, just the way I like. The taco was a good size for the price, and the chorizo, while a bit greasy, was popping with flavor and blended well with the egg and cheese, and the tortilla was quite enjoyable as well. Definitely a good place to stop for coffee in south end!

Likes: - Great coffee 100% of the time! - Love the horchata latte, esp the fact that it's dairy free but still creamy - Love that you can order from toro bruto at the same time as you order your coffee - Always super friendly and helpful staff, including the manager Charlie - Like that the menu offers all the classics and a few unique options...makes it easy to choose from - Simple, classic design and clean space Dislikes: - Only hard part is the location since parking can be tough, but that's the same with any other place in this area

At first glance, I was already impressed by the roomy environment and friendly greetings. The variety on the menu is diverse and inclusive of all lactose intolerance needs. Dirty horchata- tastes creamy like there's real milk (but it's rice and cashew), not too sweet, not too strong if you are looking for something slight Hibiscus with berry- I'm a huge fan of hisbiscus, because I love hot water with lemon, and this tasted perfect. They even ask if you want to add honey or simply syrup if you like it on the sweeter side! Apple cider matcha latte- a twist to the normal matcha latte, but you can definitely taste the apple cider. I personally prefer a classic matcha latte but I would recommend if you're looking to branch out and love the option to try something new. The staff was welcoming, re warmed up our drinks, and checked in with us. The high roof makes the space more open, perfect place to hang with friends or study!

Would a restaurant be named killer if that didn't have caffeine? Look, I love Starbucks. This place brings the caffeine. The food is absolutely delicious and it's hidden in resident culture. It's a great spot to do work and focus on what you're doing. If you want a shake up & a pick up, you need to head to killer coffee .

Best coffee in town if you ask me! Friendly baristas that make an effort to get to know you, remember your order, and engage in a warm way! Love the breakfast food too. Amazing ambiance in the space too. Always a solid playlist fitting the vibe. 10/10

I love the atmosphere of resident culture during the day. There was a good amount of people but not packed which was nice. Killer coffee is in the back corner of the bar. The coffee was great and the barista was really friendly.

Stopped by this place while I was in charlotte for the day. It is attached to a restaurant, and is located in the back. The gentleman taking my order had great suggestions and helped me pick a drink I would enjoy. I got the cafe la olla and it was so good!

Love the staff here, they're so friendly and nice. Soldi coffee that never disappoints. A greta WFH spot too. I haven't tried their breakfast menu, but the tacos look awesome. A staple for coffee in South end

Wasn't even open during the claimed hours of operation. Came on a sunday at 11am, all doors locked. The sign clearly says open until 3pm.

Review for Amélie's French Bakery & Café…read more As a transplant from the West Coast--specifically San Francisco, where high-quality bakeries and true French pâtisseries are plentiful--I was genuinely excited to try Amélie's after moving to Charlotte. Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing, and after giving it more than one chance, it's simply not a place I plan to return to. The concept feels more like a themed destination than a serious bakery. The interior is whimsical and eye-catching, with decorative elements like a faux Eiffel Tower, which clearly appeals to visitors looking for a fun atmosphere. However, if you've spent time in authentic French cafés or bistros, you know the real charm is understated elegance--wood, mirrors, tile, and craftsmanship. This felt more theatrical than authentic. Where it fell short for me was the food. For a place calling itself a French bakery and pâtisserie, the absence of classic laminated pastries was surprising. I was expecting staples like Napoleons, kouign-amann, or beautifully executed croissants. What I found instead were pastries that looked average and lacked the refinement and technique you'd expect from a true pâtisserie. On my visits, I tried: * A leek soup that was supposed to be cream-based but tasted thin and under-seasoned--more like warm vegetable water than a properly developed soup. * A baguette sandwich with fig, Brie, and apple that sounded promising but was poorly executed. The bread was overly hard, and the balance of ingredients felt off, making the sandwich less enjoyable than expected. I gave Amélie's two chances, hoping the second visit would change my impression. It didn't. To be fair, the café clearly has a loyal following and works well as a social or casual gathering spot. But if you're specifically looking for high-quality French pastries or refined bakery craftsmanship, there are stronger options in the Charlotte area. Personally, I'd recommend: * Renaissance Patisserie for more traditional European-style pastries * Paris Baguette at Rea Farms for consistency and better execution * Or trusted local favorites closer to home Bottom line: Fun atmosphere, but the food didn't meet expectations for a French bakery. After multiple visits, it's a pass for me.

Lovely atmosphere, and love learning about coffee. I got the Yemeni chocolate (stuffed with kanafe, surprise!) and a decaf Yemeni latte because I needed to sleep in a couple of hours. Neither disappointed! They also roast in house, so I brought back a 1/2 lb bag. Owner told me to wait a day or so, since they had just roasted the beans the night before (allows beans to rest and the flavors to come out). When I brewed them with my Fellow back home Make this a definite stop!

It tasted like focus, with subtle notes of questioning my life choices--in a good way. The atmosphere felt like a place where time either slows down or speeds up depending on how long you stare at your cup. The barista seemed to understand my order before I said it, which was comforting and mildly unsettling. The area was clean and the cute interior makes for a good social media photo op. The menu has good variety and explorative flavors that encourages repeat visits. I got a Mango Milk Tea and was not disappointed. It gave a Mango Lassi vibe and was very refreshing. My only downside was the bottom of the drink tasted gritty and had a white residue left at the bottom. Also, I initially wanted the drink with light ice and this was my first encounter at a shop that charges extra for light ice (45 cents). Not a huge deal and I understand that companies incur more costs for light ice or no ice. Maybe I could justify the additional charge for getting the drink without ice, but I still wanted ice---just not a lot of it. I just would've like to have been told about it or seen some signage about the additional charge since the toppings and other add ons are listed out. I could've missed where it was listed out, but I don't think I saw anything written out. Nonetheless, after a few healthy gulps, I was sad that the drink was gone. I would come back to try other items.

However, I had a very confusing experience today. I ordered a small drink for my girlfriend and a large one for myself. Here's a little quiz for you: which one would you guess is the small drink and which one is the large? You would probably assume the green matcha is the large one -- but no, that was the small drink, while the latte was supposed to be the large. When I received the drinks, I politely asked, "Excuse me, which size are these?" I was told they were both small. Then they brought out the "large" cup -- and it turned out to be exactly the same size. What I do not understand is why I was being treated as if I could not clearly see that the cups were literally identical. I understand if the amount of liquid differs slightly, but when the cups themselves are visibly the same size, what exactly was the point of paying extra for a "large" drink? It is not about the money. I simply do not like being made to feel foolish. We have probably visited this place around 30 times, and honestly, this experience may have been the last one for us. We also ordered the tuna panini, and unfortunately it was just okay. There was too much onion and very little tuna. Other paninis here have definitely been much better.
