Came here for dinner on a Friday after work with my husband. Atmosphere was fun, music was loud, but fine with me for a friday! We sat a high table, service was quick, we ordered two draft beers. For starters we had the jalapeño poppers, which were good. For mains he had the fish sandwich with French fries, it was a great play on the norm fish and chips. It came with a Cajun dip for the fries which was my fave part of the entire meal. it was a very tasty dish. I ordered the Buffalo chicken sandwich. I asked for the bread to be swapped out for a wrap because that's just how I prefer it, but was told that it may not be possible because the chicken is so big, so I stuck with the bread. It was huge, I only ate half. Flavor wise, it was a simple chicken sandwich, for buffalo, there was zero heat. I asked for more buffalo sauce on the side, but to me it was more like a bbq sauce. My husband disagreed with me, and I do half a rather high tolerance for heat, but to me the sauce was sweet and smokey. It was bbq sauce! Anyway, food was good despite it not being entirely what I expected. I would go back again if we meet in that area after work in the future. read more

The Stone Street alternative... If you follow my reviews you will notice a trend... I love a good deal! This is the FiDi bar which hits the sweet spot between nice surroundings and decent pricing. The decor is not quite as nice as the higher end spots in the FiDi but its definitely nicer than Jeremy's ale house. It gets crowded with the afterwork set but it's rarely ever as packed in as Ulysses and it wont hurt your Credit Card quite as bad. read more

Brought my parents here on a Sunday because I knew they wouldn't be able to handle the crowds or prices of Stone St. Killarney Rose is about a block away from Stone Street, so it's often less crowded and the prices are a little better. The atmosphere was pretty good but there was a group of stoned jerks next to us being disruptive and the staff did nothing to calm them down. I'm okay with people being loud and obnoxious in the late hours, but this was a lunch date and these guys were singing loudly (why is it always the tone-deaf ones that sing the loudest??) and shouting at each other. There were 5 of them crowded around a high top for 2-3 so there was NO need for that nonsense. The food was okay... Boyfriend had fish tacos and I had the cordon bleu grilled cheese which was overly buttery. They had a decent happy hour so our drinks weren't too expensive, but that's about the only reason for the 3rd star. read more

iReally wanted to like this place but the vibe was so off iDoubt I'll ever go back. My friend invited me out to check Killarney Rose out bc she got a voucher from #theNeighborhood. A cool subscription that lets you explore local spots in your neighborhood for $20 a month. I got there right after work and walked in and had a seat. The bartender walked over and instead of a hello or what can i get you , she asked if i was "alright" like i was a lost child or something lol. Didnt know what that was about but i told her i was fine and proceeded to wait on my friend, who arrived about 5 mins later. About 10 mins into catching up we realize our waitress was no where in sight. Another 10 mins, we see her walk by but say nothing. After another 5 mins and a stare from the other side of the bar she finally walks over. We show her the voucher and thats when things went left. The selection that comes with the voucher is kinda confusing, it said cocktail with either spice rum or stoli, the waitress said just well drinks. Wateva, we both get stoli and chaser even though technicall we should have been able to order any drink on the cocktail list that had either of the two. Just saying. Anyways, we drink and ki ki for a few moments longer until we realized our waitress never came back to check on us, despite us seeing her check all the other tables around us, and we were never asked if we wanted to order something to eat or at least another drink. Tragic! Needless to say, we just left after leaving a tip. Didnt want to be "those types" but she really didnt do much to merit any kind of tip at all. Just didnt want to be rude though... Pretty much your run of the mill pub- gets an extra star for good specials ($5 wings, $4 imports). In my 4 visits to the place, I can't see what any of these reviewers are talking about "friendly bartenders"- these guys have the personalities of rotting kiwis. Don't expect any interaction with them outside of ordering your drink. Fine for larger fuck palaces like Ulysees, but a neighborhood bar simply needs bartenders who you'll like. What do you get when you place a laid back Irish pub in the middle of FiDi? Kilarney Rose! I've been here countless times, whether it's for happy hour dinks, after party drinks, or the weekly Friday lunches. Honestly, it's one of the few places around the Stone Street area that isn't boring and/or disappointing. There's not too much to say other than it's your typical Irish pub. The waiters/waitresses and bartenders are pretty low key. They also have a very good selection of beer. Drinks are pretty cheap compared to the other bars on Stone Street. Food is great! I've pretty much tried everything on the menu from their chicken fingers, Cajun chicken sliders, burgers, mac and cheese, fried chicken (yes, they're fried chicken is delicious - don't judge me), fish and chips, quesadillas, and daily specials. It's a great place to hang out with your friends or coworkers, whether it's during lunch or after work hours. read more

We really like this little unpretentious neighborhoody pub. It's much more relaxed and "real" than Ulysses down the street. The drinks are great. And the food is actually quite delicious. I remember the stuffed mushrooms and fish and chips, both yum. The staff is low-key and friendly and the crowd has the same kind of vibe. We've stopped in for drinks and both lunch and dinner several times, and we always ask why we even ever bother to go to Ulysses anymore...too many naval-gazing Wall St. trust-fund babies bragging about how many hours they put in at the office. This is no frills, no attitude, real downtown stuff. 90% of my friends would hate it, LOL which is why I totally love it - because there is one place I know I can hide away when all that is needed is a quiet pint (haha then I can nip back and scrape them up off Stone Street a little later in the evening :p ). Wow, pretty unforgettable experience here. Came here with some workplace people after a long week to blow off steam, ready for some good laughs. Maybe we were obnoxious, the bartender followed us around breaking the glasses we drank from by smashing them against the table and the floor. Obviously, he didn't like us! So we left. Killarney Rose is our neighborhood pub. And we like it. But we don't love it. The food and beer is relatively well priced considering the completely overpriced Financial District. The service is pretty consistent and the beer is always cold! But we have yet to find anything decent on the menu. It's bar food, but I think the menu is too extensive and I usually notice that restaurants have a big menu, the food isn't very good. So if you are in the FiDi and you decide you would like a pint...Smithwick is my fav.... then drop in to the Rose, but I would save your appetite for something else down here. read more

I can't stand this place. It's a regular spot for a lot of people at my company and that in itself is one of the big reasons I can't stand it. I strolled into this place for a Thursday lunch, and to be honest, I was not expecting much based on the crowd I've seen outside often. However, it is standard that everytime my father comes to visit me at work nearby, we must try a new place. So we gave it a shot. We entered through the Hanover Square entrance. Pretty dead besides a few people at the bar. There were no real tables down there except for bar stools, so we decided to take a chance and venture upstairs. Nice sized bar upstairs. With a few tables and a big couch in the corner. The two or three tables were very random as it looked like they belonged to a fancy restaurant or what not, so a little out of place. And then a big comfy couch with a coffee table to sit and eat at (there were two other men eating their lunch there that probably worked nearby as well). As their food came out, it looked delcious so we decided to stay. The waitress was super nice, easy going. Not like some of the waitresses/bartenders you tend to find in this area. I ordered a Cobb Salad with blackened chicken and it was delicious!! Thin slices but a big solid piece of meat, lots of fresh vegetables. My father had a chicken wrap and it looked scrumptuous, nice and fresh with guac and also a large serving of steak fries. For the area, and for the good amount and quality of food, this place was very fairly priced and I would definitely come back. Looks llike they are one of the only bars down here that have a legit happy hour too! So I think I might give it a second chance at least! Buon appetito! :) read more

I used to frequent this place three or four days a week back in the early 90's when I was stationed on Governor's Island. It was a totally awesome dive bar back then (10 cent Schaefer drafts on Monday afternoons). Took my family by for a nostalgic walk thru, but was surprised to see the place is totally updated (honestly, a part of me was really sad). The food was great and the prices reasonable. We had sandwiches from the specials menu. Place is clean and well kept. Server was friendly and attentive. Definitely recommended! read more

I've only been on the weekend and every time I've been it's been pretty empty but they have good food and good service every time! I won't call this the best bar in the world, and not something that I've frequented with friends. However it's a place that I suppose kinda belongs in NYC history! I've been there at 8am to watch the FIFA World Cup, 11pm for a beer and 8pm for Linux Meetings. It really caters to everyone. It's right smack in the heart of the financial district and when everyone thought it was going to close down, I know a troop of folk that gathered and tried to figure out how to bring it back. Fortunately it was only renovations and not an actual closing. It might not fit the new classy mold of the folks that work down here anymore, but it fits NYC best. read more

I agree with almost all of the posts below. The Killarney Rose is my Happy Hour go to in the Financial District. Drinks are Cheap ( I recommend ordering a double mixed drink - served with a heavy pour in a pint glass), they have great music, a laid back atmosphere and plenty of room. I hardly ever wait for a drink here. The K-Rose, as we know it, has always been a friendly joint, that for the most part misses the typical finance seen that Financial District is known for. ***Special Tip - order the waffle fries with cheese - yes these are a heart attack waiting to happen, but they are delicious. read more

I had my 20 year work anniversary there in May (just now getting around to writing a review). The drinks were a great value and the apps were good basic bar fare. The reason for the five stars is the fantastic service. Everyone was so nice! And they made up little happy 20th signs for me :) plus they were super flexible - I reserved the upstairs lounge area with no money down and they let us run a tab. We had about 30-35 people there for 2-3 hours and we somehow came in just under the $500 budget (including tax and tip!). What's not to like? read more

I've spent many nights here and have hundreds of stories. The crew that works here is awesome. I've never had more respect for a bartender than i do for Noel. This guy has been working at KR since before I was born and goes out of his way to say hi to everyone he knows is a regular. Just this past week he walked out from behind the bar to give me a hug and wish me a Merry Christmas. Yeah it can get crowded, yeah there are "prettier" bars with two blocks but this place is an old school classic and a "regular's" dream spot where loyalty is recognized, appreciated and rewarded. read more
