We came with a group of ten friends to celebrate our friend's birthday and it turned into one of our favorite nights out. The atmosphere was inviting so we stayed for hours without even noticing how late it got. We shared appetizers like the Hanover steak and cheese sandwich, Papas Bravas, Tuna Tartare and Braised Short Ribs Sliders, enjoyed plenty of drinks, and the skinny margaritas was our favorite drink. The staff were warm, attentive, and made us feel comfortable. Since we all live in the neighborhood, celebrating here felt extra special. Really like HSB, but the DJ Spin Night is incredibly loud that it makes it difficult to enjoy the evening with others. We like HSB as an after-work place for a nice drink but you basically are yelling to hear the other person just sitting across from you. read more

Pick any other bar on Stone Street - you will have a better experience. What a waste of time and money. Cannot even put into words how awful of an experience this was. Ordered a vodka soda with lime, and was handed a cup of flat soda and absolutely no ice. Bartender's attitudes here are absolutely terrible, none of them are kind nor do they make a good drink. Some of the nastiest, most unforgiving people I've ever met in my life. Good luck needing table service outside here, as they will refuse to serve you if they misinterpret someone's behavior. Had it on my radar to try the late night happy hour for a while and was finally in the area to try it recently! The steak sandwich (not on HH) was really good, the papas bravas (was on HH) were decent but to me didn't feel like a true papas bravas as the potatoes didnt have the right crisp and chipotle mayo less spicy than expected. I was taken here to lunch on Thursday and thoroughly enjoyed. I was in a party of 5 and we all enjoyed our meals. I had the grilled chicken and veggies and it was cooked to perfection. My coworkers had pasta, chicken dishes and a sandwich and the all liked their meals. This place to me is a hidden gem. The atmosphere is lively and upbeat. Looked like a great place to go for drinks after work as well. The only negative was it took a while to be seated and we were a bit confused why and they chose to wash windows why we were dining which I thought was a bit strange. Totally shocked to see this place doesn't have a higher rating. I've been to Harry's Side Bar a few times this past year and while I haven't tried the food, I found the service to be exceptional and the cocktails strong, delicious and reasonably priced for the area. The ambiance of Harry's strikes just the right balance between upscale and approachable. The bartenders are not only friendly, but seem to have a genuine interest in making your time there enjoyable. They're also extremely knowledgeable - if there's something you're in the mood for that isn't on their cocktail menu they'll not only make it, but will curate it to your specific tastes and liking. On my last visit my friend and I were really in the mood for dirty martinis. The bartender made sure it was dirty enough to both our likings and that the type and brand of alcohol were to our preferences. I've had plenty of martinis where they serve the extra in a little glass on the side, but Harry's takes it a step further and makes sure that little bonus martini stays cold by putting it into its own little ice bucket. Adorable and smart. I don't know that I'd travel all the way to Stone Street just to come here, but if you're in the area Harry's serves plenty of needs. Looking for somewhere fun and hip to start the night off? Harry's has your back. Need a night cap? Harry's 10 pm late night happy hour helps keep the night going without hurting your wallet. Went for drinks and light bites on a Thursday evening. The bar was full but was able to grab a table without a reservation. I got the Rochester Rally (basically an old fashioned) which was tasty. The other person got The Alchemist which was refreshing and wasn't spicy at all (even though it had Japanese chile). We shared the Hanover Steak and Cheese Sandwich which was okay (had a weird meat taste) but the Gruyère cheese made up for it. Also had the Papas Bravas which would've been great if the texture was a bit softer (the finger lake potatoes were a bit undercooked) but the smoky aioli was tasty. Then shared a glass of red cab which was delicious. The service was top notch and the staff were very friendly and attentive. Would come back for cocktails and try the other small plates. read more

The problem with NYC is that exactly what you need will magically appear, if you wait long enough. How the hell am I supposed to quit that?!? Background: I moved back upstate in 2020 after 15 years in Manhattan. I've visited several times since then, but this was my first time back to the office in three years. My coworker friend and I wanted a quiet bar where we could catch up and relax. Unfortunately, she had laryngitis. Doubly unfortunate: our office moved to FiDi in early 2022, a stone's throw from Stone Street. Quiet bars are not what finance bros are looking for. We walked into several bars, hoping for one where we could get two seats together and hear each other. Honestly, I never thought we'd find a thing. And then we stumble upon Harry's. In a sea of loud, crowded Stone Street bars, this gorgeous art deco train car-inspired bar appeared as though we'd conjured it. Sedate. Refined. Uncrowded. I worried they weren't open; why else was it not packed to the gills?? In a word, they were incredible. My friend asked if they could make a hot toddy for her, and boy howdy could they ever. Christian used his butane crème brûlée torch to scorch some lemon, and added a drained star anise to the finished product. Utter elegance. As for me, when I saw they had Tanqueray 10, my favorite gin, I knew I needed a martini. Christian asked if I wanted olives or a twist; I said that I loved olives but a twist probably paired better with this delicate gin. Reader, Christian rocks. He gave me a crisp clean martini, olives chilling--with the remainder of my martini--on ice in a separate glass. I've actually had this before, from a bartender friend, and it is the perfect way to have a martini. Let the gin do it's delicate, herbaceous, floral thing, and still treat your palate to a briny olive, but without the olive disturbing the balance of the martini. Delectable gamechanger of happiness. Friendly service. Amazing ambiance. Top-shelf liquor. Competitive prices. Knowledgeable staff. Look, I'm not saying I conjured Harry's Side Bar into existence. Had a really awful experience last night. A server was extremely rude. We asked if we could be on our own separate bill instead of with the whole group and the server grunted and rolled her eyes - Larger groups have 18% gratuity added automatically, so if everyone has their own bill then she can't be accidentally double tipped by inebriated patrons - classic server swindle. She was constantly hostile to everyone in the group. We had brought a cake along and she didn't warn us about a "cake cutting fee". We had cut four pieces when another server (who was very nice and apologized for her fellow's behavior many times) told me of the fee, I said if we stopped cutting the cake could we leave it with just a $20 fee? She said yes and we put the cake away, only to find out at the end of the night we were being stuck with a HUGE cake cutting fee. That was very disrespectful. A fellow patron later told us the server and another worker were talking about how they were going to split the cake cutting fee - so of course she didn't warn us about the fee or held to our agreement, she wanted that money for herself. This awful and rude service made me feel uncomfortable the whole night. We asked for her name and she put her fellow servers name on the bill instead, I can't see why she would do that other than her knowing she was rude and didn't want us to know her name. Unfortunately they have one server who worked Wednesday night (blond woman, 40's) who is unlike any server I've ever encountered in my life. Bless her, but she should not be working in the service industry. She charged my party a cake cutting fee that she ENCOURAGED us to cut, she informed us in the middle of cutting the cake so then we stopped cutting after four slices (she said this was $20) then at the end of the night she charged us $120 for the cake? She kept stopping by our tables to try and pick fights with us and at the end of the night accused us of dining and dashing for not wanting to pay the $120 cake fee... We were there for a total of two hours and about seven people in my party were pulled aside multiple times over those two hours to be berated by her. Her colleagues kept apologising for her. She also lied to us about them being out of stock of certain things in the kitchen that her colleagues then brought to us. Multiple people in my party then overheard her planning with one of the bartenders to add extra drinks to our tab, thinking that because we were a large party we wouldn't notice. Earlier when we asked to close out our tab she fully rolled her eyes at us and refused. She did this to roll up a tab for a large party. I work in the service industry, I get it, but you can't just outwardly steal from a party or wrack up fake fees, and you DEFINITELY shouldn't be actively trying to pick fights with patrons.
