Sushi Roll
Erin P.

Awesome hole in the wall spot in a shopping center. Doesn't look like much inside or out (definitely more of a carry out) but the staff is friendly and the food is solid. As a vegetarian, it can be a challenge to get good food while out on the road. Their vegetable curry (a yellow, more Japanese style curry) is full of fresh zucchini, broccoli, and carrots. It is served in a generous portion over rice. It was served hot and fresh. I easily stretched it to lunch and dinner! They offer numerous tofu options, as well. My colleagues got the chicken curry and Cajun chicken, which they raved about. They also ordered a sushi roll with crab and said it was great (it was HUGE!). The menu offered whole fish, shrimp, and many other options. Certainly something for everyone. Will definitely be back for the veggie curry next time I'm in Franklin for work. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a hearty, fresh, and affordable lunch or dinner on the go.

Menu

I moved to the area a couple of years ago and didn't expect much, but I was pleasantly surprised. The hibachi was soooo good. I haven't had any sushi yet, but I plan to try asap.

Not good curry, rice is way overcooked and things floating in the curry were unappetizing. Sad, lady sad their curry was great.. not so.

Based on the good reviews, this place seemed like a must try for lunch! Wow we were wrong. Lady recommended $20 hibachi... for lunch? I dont think so. She said the curry chicken lunch was great, at $10 it was still steep but I love some curry. I think this is the first time I was totally turned off by the smell and taste of a curry. The objects floating in the curry were just as bad I attempted to remove them from the sludge. Then went for a bit of rice and it assumed the shape of the styrofoam, way overcooked. The steak cheeze egg roll was my savior, took a bite to find a better flavor, but steak chunks that were almost impossible to chew. I can't recommend this place.

This was only half of my lunch! It was the best food I've had in a long time. We will definitely be back. Clean restaurant and friendly staff

Long slender setup...use to be a sub shop I believe

I have never had a bad meal here and they have excellent sushi and hibachi. My go to spot for chicken fried rice with yum yum sauce.

If food is not to a customers liking we should have the choice to get something else or even a refund, not professional at all.

Whether it's just the two of us or with a group, there have been no complaints on our end. Let's see how this visit went. We were seated once we walked in. Just like before, the decor was set up perfectly and each customer was taken care of by the wonderful staff making sure everyone was comfortable. No problems here at all. For the selections, we had pan-fried pork gyoza and I had chicken Katsudon for my entree (Sophia had her usual, chicken Katsu Ramen). Everything delivered was on point. Well-cooked and tasted great. I do wish I could add more, but when you eat regular dishes, there's nothing more to say. Thank you again Tanpopo Ramen for making Sophia and myself satisfied. Keep it up :)

I appreciated the simplicity of this place in that regard , the broth really talked for itself. Im not a fan of miso so I wasnt exactly sure if id like it, but like I said, best ramen ive ever had . Ive never had a good ramen egg either, sometimes they're just too egg-y or mucus like for lack of a better descriptor, I actually ate this ramen egg. It didnt taste like egg and had a very nice jello like texture, will be going back next time im in the area to try the katsu . Service was also very prompt & attentive. I was sat right away, I had my food within 10 minutes even though the place was a little busy since it was dinner time on a Saturday night, and the server was very nice. **Ramen excluded the nori**

I ordered the Kake Udon for me and two orders of steamed gyoza for my kiddo. I gotta say, I was surprised when the order arrived. The udon noodles were paper thin compared to what I'm used to. The fried tofu was so hard it was basically inedible, and the broth - well, it had little to no flavor. To top it off, my kiddo took a bite of one dumpling and then spit it out. This child DESTROYS dumplings, so I asked him what happened -- he said "who puts corn and carrots in a gyoza dumpling?!?" and I can't say I disagree with him. Pork and cabbage filling - duh! Overall, totally not our jam and we probably won't revisit it. I guess the reviews are based more on folks who haven't experienced true Japanese cooking? I don't know, but I'm pretty sure my Japanese host mother would have given it no stars.

Today I got the seafood ramen with mussels, clams and a couple of pieces of imitation crab sticks. The broth was warm and tasty, and spicy after adding generous spoonfuls of the chili oil, a must-add for cold, wet weather. I also snuck some bites of my husband's katsu-don and was a little jealous of how good it was. Next time I will get the katsu ramen bowl and have the best of both worlds. We also got sashimi and crab Rangoon for appetizers which everyone enjoyed. And my lychee ice tea was sooo good. It's a bit sweet but the lychee flavor was amazing and I can't wait to try the other flavors. Overall a great experience, especially after a day of traveling in chilly weather. Thank you for the great service and friendly welcome, can't wait to return!

Very disappointed in a few things here tonight. We were looking forward to great ramen and sushi,…read morebased on the reviews I read. Walking in, strong smell of cleaning solution ( could be a good thing), but apparently they don't clean the women's bathroom. Disgusting toilet, sink, floor. No paper towels in the dispenser and no air dryer. Walking back to my table, the back of the Noren ( Japanese doorway curtain) was disgustingly filthy! From years of hands pushing it aside, I guess. ‍ Our server was very nice, she said she was new, so learning a lot about the menu. We ordered hot tea, they were out! I ordered 2 orders of salmon sashimi, got one order. ( that was eventually fixed) I ordered the boa buns, delicious!! I also ordered the veggie roll. My husband ordered the tonkatsu ramen and I asked for an additional egg for his ramen so I could enjoy it. It took a long time to get our food, all came at different times. My husband got his Ramen ( with the extra egg, yay) but I was served a veggie ramen instead of my veggie roll. That, too, was fixed. But, my veggie roll had seaweed salad INSTEAD of the yellow pickle, ( which is why I ordered the veggie roll for the pickled radish ) I wasn't ask if they could substitute the seaweed for the pickle radish that they ran out of. Fortunately, they took that off the bill. Also, part of the restaurant looks as if it's a storage area....in plain view. I only took one pic today..

I ordered the tonkotsu ramen and that broth deserved a moment of silence. Rich, savory, deeply flavorful, with just enough chili oil to give it a little attitude without setting my mouth on fire. The eggs were cooked perfectly and seasoned so well I briefly considered ordering a side of just eggs. We also got salmon onigiri and let me save someone from making our same hungry mistake: one order is definitely enough for two people to share unless you came in after a marathon or something. We ordered two because the menu made them seem innocent and petite; they are not. Delicious though. The ebi shumai was also excellent, and even the hot green tea hit the spot. Zero complaints about the food. Everything came out fast, hot, and tasting like somebody in that kitchen actually cares. Service was super quick, though there was one slightly funny moment when our server came to take the order, we said we needed a minute... and she just stood there silently at the table like this was some kind of pressure-based game show. Not rude, just a little intense for people who like to pretend they need time before ordering the exact same thing they already wanted. The restaurant itself is small, simple, mom-and-pop vibes. No frills, just good food. Personally, I love places like this because they usually spend less money on decor and more money on making sure the broth is good. No wait, plenty of parking, fast service, and food that made us clean the bowls. I'll definitely be back.
