Was talking to a coworker about Pancit. She said this place has really good Pancit so I looked at the menu and got chicken and broccoli, an egg roll and the boneless ribs with pork fried rice. The reason for the four stars and not five is the egg roll. It lacked filler, the vegetables and meat. It was as if someone forgot to add it. The boneless ribs also had some fat on it. I didn't know it was there until I started chewing and it was a lot, but other than that the rest of my food was well prepared and delicious. It was a lot of good. It was clean when I walked in. I ordered via door dash pick up so I went in and grabbed my food. Someone said in their review the area was bad. While I'm new to the area, it didn't seem bad to me. Used to be our personal favorite Chinese Takeout spot nearby but I feel as if the quality of it went down. Maybe it's because at the time they were moving locations but I'll definitely have to give it another shot since they officially settled right across the post office now. Again, really picky with Chinese takeout and they gave the 'ok' to a special request, which was less sauce and extra crispy, and we got double the sauce and majority was of the squishy breading pieces. It wasn't too bad but the sauce can be a bit too much and too heavy, so we couldn't finish the meal and ended up tossing it. It's just General Tso's chicken so I mean it's decent no matter how it's prepared. Service is always nice. You're greeted with a smile, order is taken promptly, and they make it fairly quick. Orange chicken was ok but the quality of the chicken was not good and didn't taste great. Neither did the rice. I've been getting food from Jacky Chen's for several years now, starting at their previous location. Food has always been great! My mom is always shocked at how much meat is in a meal, often she splits it between two days. The combo's come with an eggroll which is nice. I've always ordered online and gone in to pick it up. Definitely check it out if you haven't yet! My only *wish* is for them to add dishes that use Shacha sauce. It is a family favorite, but we haven't been able to find it anywhere in the area. Visiting my dad in Portsmouth, knowing he wouldn't want to cook after work- and I wouldn't want to cook after the long drive, was my perfect opportunity to curb my Chinese food craving. Though I love scouring Yelp recommendations, I let my dad 'show-off' his recommendation skills, with the only rule being, "we share everything" haha. He hadn't dined at Jacky Chen's before, but working in a hospital said their take-out comes highly recommended by many a busy, hungry staff. We ordered: Steamed Pork Dumplings, Lobster Sauce Seafood Medley, Mongolian Beef, Boneless Spareribs, Sesame Chicken (spicy), and Moo Shu Shrimp w.pancakes only woes: we ordered the beef & chicken as just meat w. white rice on the side, but they came as combination platters mixed in with fried rice-and with very very greasy eggrolls Pros: everything was absolutely delicious & large portions. We ended up with not only a hearty dinner this night, but had enough leftovers to have another hearty lunch the next day, and then still some left! Ribs were thick cuts, with not too much fatty edges- and the right amount of sauce-without overly swimming in sweetness. The chicken was juicy, not too much breading. The seafood plates had large well-seasoned shrimps. The Mongolian Beef could have used a bit more spice or 'pop' of flavor- it tasted quite plain, but the dish had so much meat in it, which was a pro overall. The moo shu shrimp dish had so much flavor- the cabbage was perfectly marinated in a delectable sauce, with ample hearty shrimps. If I lived in Portsmouth, this would be my go-to Chinese takeout. My usual Chinese spot is on vacation so I decided to go to Jacky Chen. I remember them being amazing at their old location. Once they moved I tried them and it was bad. I decided to give them another chance today. The fried rice and egg rolls that come with the combo orders had large pieces of pork fat. My order was almost $80 for my family. I ordered 3 orders of Crab Rangoon. These things were hard as a rock, it was hard to but it. It's like they fried them the day before or in the morning and was just refrying them for people's orders. There was less than a table spoon of filling and got many that were not filled. Manager says their oil must be old. I don't believe that.He said next time I come in I'll get a free Rangoon. I live more than 20 minutes away after having a horrible meal I was not driving back out. I'm never come back here. All of all the Chinese places I've been to in my life and places I've lived this was the worse one I've ever been to. read more

I have just found this place after going to the DMV and decided to give them a try. I was actually amazed at the technical advancement of their ordering system You can either place your order on a touch screen device or speak with an employee and place your order that way. When looking straight back at the cooks while they were cooking there were lines of fresh vegetables which got me really excited as I love good veggies! When I place my order there were several options that I loved like the level of spiciness I've never had anyone to ask me my level of spiciness. I just tried normal spicy just to gauge their level of spiciness. I ordered the hot and sour soup, the combination Chinese vegetables, and chicken and broccoli. Everything came fresh and made to order. There is also a small refrigerator that holds homemade lemonade and sweet tea which I did not try this time but we're more than likely try the next visit their decor is very basic and nothing too fancy. However when I got home I tasted my food everything was amazing the vegetables were cooked to perfection and not overly seasoned. Can't wait to go back and try other dishes. read more

I'm done with Jacky Chen. In my previous review I noted that they forgot my rice and how pissed off I was when I got home after working all day and found an incomplete meal in the bag. They also absolutely refuse to make food spicy. You can ask until you're blue in the face, and the receipt will say "spicy spicy spicy" and they still won't do it. I don't know why. I resorted to requesting hot oil, and they started charging 25 cents for it. I shouldn't have to pay extra to make a dish marked "spicy" actually spicy. The last straw was tonight. I ordered moo shu pork and an eggroll. After the "no rice incident" I've been checking the contents of my bag in the store before leaving. They still managed to get me. My moo shu pork, eggroll, rice, and pancakes were there, and there was a cup of sauce. I get home and start eating and it's NOT plum sauce. It's some thin watery sauce like you'd get with wontons. $12 is a lot for what is essentially fast food and they still manage to ruin it. Who wants to pay $12 for moo shu pork with no sauce? read more

I came here to pick up an order for someone they told me it would be a few minutes the guy at the front desk saidI was waiting 15 minutes throughout my way I as the status of my order and the man at the Bryant totally ignored my question he answer everyone else and continue to ignore me. Had the order not have already been paid for I would have left when my order was ready he just set it at the register and said yours and continue to laugh because I was asking him was that the full order Word of advice you guys need to change the person taking the orders or at least let customers know that you guys are running a little behind customer service goes a long way but me personally I will never eat here. read more

I really wanted to find decent Chinese food. I just can't seem to and this was about the worst. Wonton soup had no flavor and the wontons were hard? The egg rolls were overcooked and came with no condiments. General Tso's chicken was so overcooked we couldn't even eat it and last but not least the Mongolian beef was a container full of onions with a few pieces of beef. This is the only place from which we order chinese food. They are fast and the food is always good. My favorite is the Kung Po Chicken. Perfectly spicy!!! Sometimes the egg rolls aren't fresh though and that's why I didn't give them 5stars. Now, you have to be a relaxed type of person if ordering delivery because their phone manners are not business like. Always friendly, but not business like. They have caller ID that must also pull up your address. When I call I give them my order and card number then we hang up. No name. No address. No total. I kind of love it now because it's like they know me. And I like to be known. :) But on retrospect being a regular for chinese take out might not be the best for my health. :/ read more

Probably the best Chinese food in the area. It is a typical small plaza Chinese take out restaurant. Nothing special in regards to the atmosphere. "If you seen one, you've seen them all" type place. But the food here is better than all the rest in the area. We had vegetable lo mein, bourbon chicken, gen Tao chicken, and chicken fried rice. It was all really good. We came here because it was one of the only restaurants open on Christmas Day. read more
