Good drinks and atmosphere. Speakeasy vibe. A few rooms to choose from. Nice outdoor space and friendly staff!

Unassuming on the outside yet cooler than I'll ever be on the inside. Love the decor (so much that I asked one person working where they bought the lights). We settled into a corner with a table and two couches set on a lifted space that looks like they might use it for live performances. The drinks are in the $10-$13 range for most cocktails, and I have to say that while I didn't dislike them, I also didn't love either of the two I tried. I still really struggle to find places that make a classically good Old Fashioned. However, my partner loved her drink, and the vibe was too good to not go back. Give this place a try, you won't regret it. read more

Kiesling - Cocktail Bars Near Me - Detroit, Michigan

Very cool newish cocktail bar with a great vibe. Pretty unassuming exterior - felt like there was plenty of nearby street parking, even on a Saturday night. Very cool ambiance and such an eclectic interior with lots of little corners and side rooms. Big main room has the bar, then there's a side room with sofas and chairs and a few U tables - a small side room as you walk to the back for a private party vibe, and then a back outdoor patio with a fire. Really cool spot + solid cocktails. Will definitely be back to try more of their stuff! read more

A bar with an ambience that I'm sure to come back soMetime soon. Only downside? Parking :( I guess that part is normal for somewhere in this area. We came at 4-5pm when they were starting their happy hour so we had a lot of space to park (street parking) however I could see it becoming a little bit of a problem over the weekend. The drink? Amazing! Service? Excellent! Ambience? A+ There's also quite a few seating options. Unlike what you see from the outside it's a pretty spacious bar. Me and my bestie initially could not find the entrance (sort of like a speakeasy concept) and it's in the middle of a place where you wouldn't really expect such a nice bar to be at. We had the gimlet and to my delight it was one of the best ones I've had in a while. I'll make sure to take an Uber next time for a good drinking night with the girls! read more

This reminds you of an ok la speakeasy tucked away in a fairly quiet area off of Woodward. This place is simply lit with good music and good drinks. It even has a outside seating area that is away from the street. If you're looking for a nice atmosphere for drinks with friends or a date night. This is your place. As the night goes on, the crowd starts filling the place. read more

Kiesling - Handsome & Unsure - Cocktail Bars Near Me - Detroit, Michigan

Such a cool bar, reminds me of my neighborhood cocktail bar when I was living in San Francisco. Came here with a bunch of girlfriends after having dinner at Oak&Reel across the street. I like how the menu is in order of booziness! Great drinks, great music, friendly bartenders and a good mix of people. Will definitely be back! read more

We met a woman in an excellent Detroit restaurant who suggested we stop in. It was in the middle of nowhere, which wasn't a problem. The inside looked kind of cool but the service was not real friendly nor inviting. Not rude, just not anything that made us feel welcome. I had only a few sips of my drink, which was straight gin. I didn't hesitate when my husband put cash on the bar and told me, "Let's go." read more

Went here the night before thanksgiving and was so pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere is adorable and the decor was perfect. The drinks were awesome, and the bartender even remembered our orders which was wildly impressive for them being busy. It's also a surprisingly large space. When you first walk in you think it's just the bar area but there is a large back room, a smaller cozy room and a large outdoor area. I highly highly recommend checking this place out. It's a little off the beaten path if you're planning to go out downtown but well worth the stop! read more

This place is a diamond in the rough but worth the trip. Their mixologists put together some incredible combinations and the decor is a mix of the original structure with some renovations which provides a unique level of character. The icing on the cake is when Phil Jackson came in. read more

I went to the Kiesling for a happy hour this week. The space is gorgeous with a diamond or diagonal line motif design throughout the place. Driving down Milwaukee just south of Grand Boulevard in Detroit, you might miss this small bar in a quiet part of New Center (is East of Woodward still New Center?). They even restored some old nature paintings from the interior walls. The drinks were pretty solid. I had the Vieux Carre which was like a vanilla infused old fashioned drink at $14. It was very tasty. All of my friends who joined me also said their drinks were great. The Kiesling "K" molded giant ice cubes in the drinks were a nice touch. One drawback was that I found the drinks quite expensive. I don't think any of the drinks were cheaper than $13. Also there was one person at the bar who apparently wasn't a bartender and just cleaning dishes. I saw at least 10 people try to approach her for drinks. The bar should sort that out to avoid confusion. read more

Kiesling - The vieux carre. kind of like an old-fashioned. $14! Branded ice cube was a nice touch. - Cocktail Bars Near Me - Detroit, Michigan

This place is a perfect combination of hipster craft cocktail spot and friendly neighborhood joint. It was surprisingly live for early Monday evening and it was clear that a lot of folks coming through were regulars. Didn't know there was a back patio (I love a patio) and every Monday, there's a pop-up restaurant situation out there. By the time I left at 8 PM, it was feeling like a party. Drinks are pricier but worth it. I had the Backyard Betty, a sweeter tequila-based drink that wasn't quite like anything I've had before. Bartenders were warm and easy. The space has a an old-school club room feel, dark and cozy with modern, geometric details. And they have WiFi! Definitely worth a visit. read more

Great atmosphere, love the decor. The four cocktails we tried were all amazing. The Ward 8 was the standout among them. Was a little cold inside, but won't hold Covid protocols against any business right now. Great pre-dinner stop before Oak+Reel read more

Loved our experience at this cozy bar. Cocktails were spectacular. Great vibe, great drinks, wish I lived closer!

Worth-the-trip, inspired cocktail bar in New Center. Kiesling may be a bit out of the way on a Detroit barhop, but you won't regret stopping in! Their seasonally changing cocktail menu features a selection of drinks with interesting ingredients and excellent flavor. One of my favorite cocktails in Detroit was a Kiesling original from the spring with gin, chartreuse, honey and lemon mixed in and pollen as a garnish. Beyond the drinks the atmosphere feels a bit like a classy hunter's lodge. Typically it doesn't get too loud so it's a good place for a date/having a conversation. Quick note: There is very limited signage outside. You will know you are in the right place based on the cars parked on the street! read more

Keisling is not your typical bar, and you can see and feel the hyper-focus on cocktails as art. Our bartender (Joseph) took the time to ask us questions about our likes and dislikes and then created two unique and off-menu cocktails that were excellent. If you have the need to nosh while cocktailing, then be sure to get something beforehand as there's no food available. read more

Love this place, a group of friends walked over here after an art showing a block away and it was a great experience. It's a small place but they have two large booths and a separate room for larger parties. They let us in the private room and gave us great service. They have GREAT cocktails! Great place great history the vibe you get from this place is just great. Prefers to go during the weekdays I feel like you get much friendlier bartenders when you go during the weekdays. I just hope they have food available soon throughout the week. read more

Kind of angry punk with great cocktails. The space inside is nice and a bit intimate. Great liquor selection. Unique and tastey cocktails.

Never been to a more beautiful bar. The staff, the place, and the drinks are amazing and I always meet interesting people here.

Great cocktails and cool decor. Seriously I've loved everything I have tried. The bartenders are super knowledgeable and can help navigate the menu. It's honestly my favorite place to go after work during the week. It's usually not too crowded and it's a great place to decompress. Weekends are a different story and it's packed with tons of hipsters. The seating outside of the bar is a little awkward but that's my only complaint when there with a group. read more

Classy, hidden cocktail bar in new center. The atmosphere was trendy, dimly lit and not overly loud. I really liked my piña colada. I tried the miso drink which was too salty and I wasn't a fan of. I was there with about 8 people and there was a long bench we could all sit at. The entrance isn't very obvious but there's a yellow K light that you'll see. The service was fine but was annoyed when our group asked to pay separately. A very cool spot where I'll definitely return! read more

I took my girlfriend here for their birthday and loved it. I will definitely be coming back. They have delicious, beautiful and boujiee cocktails AND some cheaper deals like a $5 shot and beer combo. They got a happy hour that I'll be going back to with some half price cocktails. There's something for everyone. The bartenders are professional and talented, and the interior is quite breathtaking. I love it. Highly recommend. The history is interesting as well with murals from 1913 still preserved on the walls. I went on a Wednesday, the main room was quite full so I imagine it's very busy on a weekend. read more

This dude Mikey got a wrist game like no other. Those drinks shake more than Cali in an earthquake. Cool spot. Pretty good cocktails. The place doesn't have much around it but is really cute on the inside. It's first come first serve seating wise, but there are some standing tables people can congregate for larger groups. Drinks are a bit expensive ~$13 a cocktail drink but they've also got beer for cheaper. Would come back for the fun atmosphere. They had a food truck inside when we were there, don't know if it's always there, but an option if you're wanting something to nibble on. read more

Very nice place, we stopped in for a drink last Saturday night. Neighborhood is a little rough, but it was still a bright summer evening and we found parking quite close. Greeted warmly upon entering and we made our way to the couch area (it was still really early, I'm sure you can't do this most nights!). Friendly service and great drinks -- the owner even stopped by to say hi and thank us for coming in as I guess they're still quite new. Beautifully decorated, nice fixtures, nice atmosphere -- a total hit! Update, 7/21/19 -- stopped in again last night to celebrate my sister's birthday, and it was great. Wildly hot and muggy out but cool and serene within -- great service, hipsters to watch, a custom drink designed for my licorice-loving sis -- good time all around!! read more

This place is such a gem. Came for the first time last weekend after going somewhere in downtown first, an area which these days is overrun by the college-aged stand-in-line-for-bars party scene crowd--not really my scene anymore. So I was pleasantly surprised to find a loungy cocktail bar tucked away in New Center. I had the shark smile--delicious. And I loved the atmosphere. We went on a Saturday night around midnight and it wasn't crowded at all. I have a feeling this place will become a go-to for me. read more

I've been coming to kiesling since they first opened and the vibe used to immaculate. It was a place where you could go for a classic cocktail and have good conversation with people in the community. The past 6 months this place has done a 180 and I no longer feel comfortable here. I'm not sure if ownership has changed or what but I've noticed a lot of changes including some of my favorite bartenders who made this place e feel like home leave, the general vibe is off it used to give velvet underground and good films but now it's like Kanye blaring and obscure movies with frat boys taking shots in the background. To put it simply it feels really like the culture has changed for the worse. The creativity has gone down hill and the clientele has turned mainly into white kids with money looking to dominate a spot instead of a good neighborhood bar that welcomes all. read more

Where do we start? Well, let's talk decor. It's simply incredible. Are we in a cabin? Are we in grandpas man cave? Are we in a trendy hipster bar? The world may never know.
