Favorite bar ever. In the entire world. Can't believe I haven't written a review for here yet. I loveee taking people here, the atmosphere is just fantastic and the crowd is so nice. The patio area is perfect when it's warm. Also I love that you can bring outside food in, I'll order coney and eat it here with my pickle beer and it's awesome. This place and the people that work here are fantastic. It is a gem of Hamtramck and if I visit there from Detroit I make it a point to stop here and get a drink. Or two. Or few. Great place to try signature cocktails for reasonable prices. Just popped in here for a drink after dinner at the Balkan House, and the place was packed on a Saturday night at 10, good start. Surprisingly we got a seat at the bar, although I wanted to sit outside in their bar garden - if you can call 4 picnic tables on concrete surrounded by a fence, a garden. There seemed to be a Harry Potter fan club there or something, everyone was were Griffendore scarfs. I digress. I got the Fisherman, Gin, Kombu-matcha, lemon, and salt. I enjoyed my drink. Not too ginny, not too tart, not too sweet, and not too salty. Hubby got the House Manhattan and was satisfied with it. Just had 1 drink and was out, but really liked the place and will be back for more. read more

This has to be one of my favorite cocktail spots in the Detroit area. Dark and cozy, old timey movies playing, pool table, friendly staff and patrons, and some of the tastiest drinks. All for a very affordable price. I think their most expensive signature is $9. Winter is ending but the hot toddy was my favorite and their gin cocktails are great too. Absolutely love pre-gaming at Bumbo's before the DCFC games, plus, there's ample parking around the bar, so double wahoo! The gentleman and lady behind the bar are always attentive to the very busy bar full of other pre-gamers. My go-to is a Gin and Tonic and I'm not sure how or why, but theirs is the best. The bartender told me that their well gin is Burnett's, which gave me a good laugh since I hate their vodka. Now I'm addicted. If I'm at home, I'm only using Burnett's. Thanks Bumbo's! Their Moscow Mule is also the tastiest! Especially over a game of pool. They also have a large back patio that is open during the nicer weather (but thanks to Michigan's sassy moods, you never know when that is! JK, babe). read more

Bumbo's is the best bar in Ham town! One of my fave spots to go. Its a great vibe - small neighborhood bar where everyone knows each other (or at least acts like they do). The owners awesome and super friendly and they have the best bar dog! I was lucky enough to pop in one evening the day after they got him so he was just a pup and they let me hold and snuggle him basically the whole time. It was hard for me not to run away and steal him ;) I also love that on slower week nights they let other customers come in with their doggys as long as they're chill. Give me allllll da pups! The best tip I can give you though is to get a Moscow mule and come on Wednesday nights when they do their pop up dinner. I'm thankful for having found this place. I'm thankful that it was a part of my night and that I could be alive to see it. I love this bar and I can't wait to be back. The service was killer. The beer selection and prices are great. The atmosphere made me want to buy a house in the neighborhood. The only reason I can't give it 4 stars is that there isn't a tap and there isn't food every night. I need food and I love a good tap from time to time. To be fair though, it's a small place so food and taps are probably not really a logistical option. Fortunately the beer selection was good enough to make up for the missing tap....but I really wish I had something to eat when I'm at a place this cool. Either way, I'll be back. read more

Bumbo's is such a great bar! I'm so glad we finally got a chance to check it out. I don't know what it looked like before, but it's very inviting and clean for an old place in Hamtramck. Love the decor and artwork. The bar is long with plenty of chairs and some tables lined along the wall. Tia and Brian are gracious and attentive. Clearly, they have put a lot of heart into this joint. They are very excited to be part of Hamtown. The drink prices are right in line with the other bars. They have a great craft beer selection, mostly from Michigan. There is something for everyone's taste. PBR & Stroh's are $2. Most of the craft beer bottles are $4. I think there were a couple of $5 options. There is a cute little backyard area with a couple of picnic tables and chairs. What a cute little place! I don't think there is a sign outside yet, however the address is clearly marked and it says "BAR" in the window. It's right on the corner. Very easy to find! Tia and Brian did a great job opening up a kind of cramped space and turning it into a cozy and unique bar. Tia mixed me a great old fashioned, and we talked about their plans to put in a kitchen and renovate the place. Can't wait for their expansions and continued renovations! Brian and Tia seem very excited to be in the city, have great taste in music, as evidenced by the jukebox, and the drink prices fight right in! "Twas the night before Thanksgiving and all through the house ......." My sister and brother- in -law brought me to this little bar when I was visiting Detroit. We had finished all the chopping, peeling, pairing, & dicing and decided to chill. Place reminds me of some corner neighborhood bars we have in Chicago, however the owners are chill & genuinely friendly, and there weren't any drunks falling off bar stools. I had mentioned to Brian and Tia that we were headed out for dinner at Rock City Eatery, and Brian (major foodie like myself) told me about some of his favorite dishes. This bar could compete with bars in New York or LA and fare well. It's dark and sort of hipstery without being douchey and the signature cocktails are really quite inventive. There's good music playing and genuinely charming folks helping you and a pool table and three doors (always drink in a place with more than one exit if you can!) but something about it feels a little contrived...I don't know. Maybe it's too clean? Like it needs sawdust on the floor or something. A jar of pickled eggs on the counter? I can't put my finger on it. Great spot!!! Just opened last month and already seems like it has been your favorite bar for years. Great tunes on the juke, cool paintings on the wall and the nicest folks working. You can go the cheap beer and a shot route or you can have a "fancier" properly mixed drink (still cheap). Can't wait for the kitchen to open!!! What I love most about Bumbo's is the pride the owner takes in the place -- you can tell she cares deeply, that it's personal, and that effects everything -- the quality of the drinks, the affordable prices, the decor, the music and especially the people she hires. "A neighborhood bar for everybody." I find that accurate, and here's the thing: It's for everybody, meaning all kinds of people, meaning non-exclusive, meaning inclusive, meaning for those open-minded enough to accept our differences and recognize what we share. Our humanity. That's the unspoken agreement that makes places like Bumbo's treasures. You are welcome there as long as you aren't a jackass detracting from the experience of others. Hipsters? Sure. Non-hipsters? Absolutely, and I can attest. Here's the other thing: It's a place people love, meaning regulars, meaning long-standing relationships with the owner and servers. A neighborhood bar. So it's possible you may feel secondary your first time or two there, depending on what's happening at the time. That's true of pretty much any "regulars" place. Don't freak out, get to know them. They're actually paying attention to everything and everyone as much as can be expected -- because they care. We need more of that in the world. read more

Truly an outstanding bar. It has the look and feel of a dive, but is so much more. Pretty much the perfect corner bar with $2 cans of PBR and Stroh's to inventive (and delicious) cocktails - all of which are in the $6-9 range. That's a lot of quality for those prices. I went there with my fiancé for the first time a couple days ago, and it's such a beautiful place! The outdoor space is so nice and big, and the bar has such a warm and inviting feel to it. The owners (Brian and Tia) are so nice and engaging. I really felt welcomed as soon as we walked in. Not to mention they have great cheap drinks that taste amazing.
