This is the most uniquely hip place I've ever been. Live music, lively people. Just a few Bees Knees to finish it off.

    Hello Alove R.

We enjoyed this place so much! Bring some cash to tip the band bc they always kill it, it's a small joint and the boss man runnin the show was so friendly but also ran a tight ship as far as any riff raft coming through. Our server was so friendly this is def a spot where you get a cold beer or quick Jack n coke not so much craft cocktails (no glassware) or at least they didn't use it when it got busy. But fun spot , everyone welcome and you'll more than likely meet some friends

Come here. Live music, great service and strong drinks. We got the grill cheese for fun and omg holy s**t so good. I laughed at my boyfriend for ordering it but found myself wanting more. Great environment & HIGHLY RECOMMEND

D'Mongo's is an institution in Detroit. This speakeasy has survived all of Detroit's ups and downs. They have live music and their drinks are great - their bee's knees is really good. The grilled cheese is the perfect toast with a great cheese pull. Just a great spot to take in some Detroit Culture with photos and mafia contracts and art on the walls - but try to get there a bit early so that you can grab a table!

One of my favorite spots in Detroit. It is super unique with the decor and overall experience. It is only open on Fridays and Saturday's but there has always been live music when I go which is great. It feels very local-vibe, meaning the bartenders know everyone. The drinks are served in plastic and solo cups but they are STRONG. The staff is so friendly and warm. The decor is awesome - lots of antiques and cool relics. Drinks are reasonably priced and they offer grilled cheeses for food.

Ohhh what a fun time at Cafe D'Mongo's! If you're looking for a cool spot to hangout with friends and enjoy live music this is the spot for you. A Detroit classic, D' Mongos has been around for many years and it has stood the test of time. From the moment waking through the door, you feel like a regular. The staff is awesome, drinks are strong and they have the best grilled cheese hands down.

Gentrification has robbed Cafe D'Mongo's of it's legendary vibe. I say legendary, but they actually have a relatively recent history being about 13 years old. It just feels eclectic and rich with history. There's no cover and the music is top notch. The crowd takes away from the experience. I'm not even talking about drunk people acting like drunk people. ..just several groups of really rude people doing things like putting their feet on tables and being rude to other guests. This isn't a cocktail bar, so keep it simple. Pours are generous though. There's a small food menu, but don't come hungry. Pro Tip: Bring cash to tip the musicians

I love this joint,, I feel hella bad that I didnt get to stay longer here at this spot. It's a really decent place to get a drink too. These are one of those places that doesnt need to pretend. Everything about this place is old and vintage oriented. Even the clear glass mugs our gin and soda was served in was not matching. Mine was a Lutheran Church and my husbands was christmassy. Now that is cool! Plus our drinks were very strong. I could totally see myself coming back here for a drink or two or three. Probably because it's a grown up spot, or something a Real Tree wearing farmer from the burbs would steer clear from. Anyways, thank you so much for reading my review. I hope this helps with your decision making experience. Enjoy your awesome yelptastic day!

proper detroit gem of a joint for music in a close quarters bar in the style of New Orleans or even a Nashville alley.

Can a 20yr old come with their 21+ friends here?

    No. Everyone is carded.

    What kind of food?

All they have is one item and it's called The White Boy Rick Grilled Cheese. It has a few different types of cheese on it but that's all they have. This is a place for drinks.

Bad Luck Bar is exactly the kind of place that makes you feel like you earned your cocktail before…read moreyou even order it. It is tucked away in an alley, and yes, the trash bins may briefly make you question your life choices. But once you spot the glass block window, you know you are in the right place. The second you walk in, the vibe completely changes. You are greeted by a friendly host, then brought into this tiny, dark, cozy little speakeasy that feels like it seats maybe 25 people total, including the bar. It is intimate in the best way, with a gorgeous liquor wall and a rolling ladder that makes the whole room feel dramatic without trying too hard. The drinks are the reason to come. They are creative, unusual, and genuinely unlike what you will find at a standard cocktail bar. Some of the spirit combinations sound like they should not work on paper, but somehow they absolutely do. The mixologists clearly know what they are doing, because every "wait, really?" ingredient pairing seems to turn into something balanced, interesting, and dangerously easy to appreciate. The only things to keep in mind are the size and the pricing. It can get busy quickly because it is so small, and cocktails can run anywhere from around $20 to over $100 depending on what you order. Not exactly a casual "oops, I had three" kind of place unless your wallet has been emotionally prepared. Bad Luck Bar is moody, memorable, and one of the more unique cocktail experiences in Detroit. It feels hidden, thoughtful, and just a little mischievous, which is exactly what a good speakeasy should be.

A HIDDEN gem! It's nestled in an alley, so yes you will question if you are going the right way!…read moreLol Greeted by a host as soon as you enter and fair warning - - it's small and popular. Please make a reservation! Our wait was about 30-40 mins so we walked to another spot to have a drink and wait. It's a cozy lux vibe with an upscale cocktail menu. This is not your normal tequila and soda okay! Know before you go! Visit their website and preview the drink options if you don't have experience with this style of bar. I ordered the Forgotten Blossom because all things lychee has been my thing lately. The drink looks like water but it is not! lol It's strong drink + having aperitif in it. The waiter was attentive and checked in on us consistently. We even received a complimentary shot after being seated and complimentary birthday shots for the birthday folks! I thoroughly enjoyed myself, and I will be back real soon!
