This is a cute little hole in the wall place but with a lot of character and friendly staff. It also has good acoustics so you can hear one another and it has a cute and romantic outdoor space. Definitely will visit again!

LOVE BUMBO's!!! What a cool dive bar! We were in the area and I was excited to see BUMBO's so close to one of our stops. I've been on a dive bar obsession lately. We stopped in for a quick one and almost played a game of pool, but we just didn't have enough time. I will most certainly be back to BUMBO's...such a great little spot.

This has to be one of my favorite cocktail spots in the Detroit area. Dark and cozy, old timey movies playing, pool table, friendly staff and patrons, and some of the tastiest drinks. All for a very affordable price. I think their most expensive signature is $9. Winter is ending but the hot toddy was my favorite and their gin cocktails are great too. Women owned as well!

Bumbo's is the best bar in Ham town! One of my fave spots to go. Its a great vibe - small neighborhood bar where everyone knows each other (or at least acts like they do). The owners awesome and super friendly and they have the best bar dog! I was lucky enough to pop in one evening the day after they got him so he was just a pup and they let me hold and snuggle him basically the whole time. It was hard for me not to run away and steal him ;) I also love that on slower week nights they let other customers come in with their doggys as long as they're chill. Give me allllll da pups! The best tip I can give you though is to get a Moscow mule and come on Wednesday nights when they do their pop up dinner. Everything is made from scratch and the menu is always something cool and different each week. Great food and the BEST Moscow mule in Michigan!

When there are black and white classic movies on the tube and you recognize the artists but none of the songs on the jukebox you know you're in a hipster joint. You can be sure though that the drinks are good and my Moscow mule didn't disappoint. Hamtramck is my new favorite scene as my old favorite scene has been run over by people. Hordes and hordes of people are downtown now. Ick

Great local bar in Hamtramck. From the outside you would almost drive by it...but don't. Drop in, friendly staff and patrons.

Tia mixed me a great old fashioned, and we talked about their plans to put in a kitchen and renovate the place.

Nate and I stopped in on our most recent visit to Detroit and had a lovely experience. The space is tucked away but had a surprising amount of outdoor space--we were there in January but I'd love to come back in the summer. We were greeted right away and given a spot near the bar. The menu includes cocktails, lots of wine, and several tasty food options. It was quite busy inside, so it took a bit of time for our server to come over to us, but we weren't in a rush. They had ten cocktails on their list and I tried the bullet proof soul and Nate got the negroni alla perra. The ingredients list for some of the cocktails include things I've never heard of, but at a place like this, I just know it's going to be good. Our drinks were perfectly balanced and very tasty. We also ordered the mortadella sandwich to split--this was delicious. It was pretty messy, but worth it. It was perfectly toasted and full of mortadella. Everything on the menu sounded delicious and I would love to try more of the food options. Can't wait to visit again!

There's artwork, a skatepark, renovated houses, gardens and a church that is now an art gallery. We stopped in to check it out and sat at the bar for a cocktail and snack. The waitstaff were super helpful in explaining everything and we finally picked 2 apps and got drinks. Both were amazing. There were friendly patrons all around and we chatted with other bar admirers. We checked out the coffee shop, Warda, but didn't purchase anything then, but have had several of their desserts since then and they did not disappoint. The atmosphere is wonderful, indoor/outdoor bar, great outside seating - not sure how this will work in the winter? They also have very pretty stone paths with multicolor stones mixed in for a very peaceful beautiful look. It inspired me to add some multicolored stones to my garden! I can't wait to return.

Considering the amount of time I ended up spending when it did reopen after the pandemic, I am…read moreshocked that I didn't have an annual review for the Kiesling. Be still my (former) neighborhood heart. Catching up - cocktails here are still top notch: top as in they taste great, notch as in they could take you down one with their strength. I rolled back in here right after Christmas and started tasting my way through the menu with the Squash mezcal boi. Normally I would never try a drink with boi in its name, but this name is a part of Kiesling's history, and squash? Come on. I had to try it, and it put me right back in the neighborhood as if I had just walked down across the bridge on Brush for a couple of drinks. (And someone please tell me, am I dreaming, didn't we used to cross on Beaubien, too?) I followed that up with the Kie Rye Pie because I cannot resist rhyming, and I am fascinated with drambuie. I thought the drink might be too sweet and was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't. I had to close the night out with the Pear Pressure because, alas, there is still no food at the Kiesling, and there was no pop up, and I didn't want eat carryout at the bar. The drink was great, but after three I was feeling the booze and headed across the street for something to eat. This bar is cozy with its wooden interior. It still serves a beer and a shot. And folks are friendly, but not going to get in your business unless you invite them.

Drinks are thoughtfully crafted (including mocktails, which I appreciate), and service is friendly as heck. If I lived nearby, Kiesling would be my spot.

The bar was decorated for its Christmas popup but wasn't too over the top. I appreciated the fresh antipasto salad and sticky, crispy wings, but the drinks were the show stoppers. I slowed down with the Snowball Old Fashioned (rye and gingerbread bitters), which was perfect, and finished the night with the Snow Day Sipper - fancy hot chocolate, delicious but fancy hot chocolate. They staff are friendly but not pushy, and they have suggestions if you want them, which you might. I like this space as it is small and feels intimate. It's not overwhelming when you're on your own, so a great spot to stop for a solo drink or meal.

This place has quickly become one of my favorite spots to grab a drink and unwind -- whether it's a mid-week break or a weekend night out. Right when you walk in, Dragonfly hits you with that fun, eclectic energy that just makes you want to stay a little longer. The space is stylish yet approachable, with local art on the walls and a laid-back feel that strikes the perfect balance between casual and classy. Now, let's talk drinks -- because this is where Dragonfly really shines. Their cocktail menu is imaginative and well-crafted, featuring inventive seasonal drinks alongside timeless classics. If you love trying something a bit different, this is your playground. They also have thoughtful non-alcoholic options, so even if you're not drinking, you're still getting a serious mocktail experience. The food here -- served from a shared kitchen with some seriously tasty small plates -- is a great complement to the drinks. Everything I've tried has been flavorful and designed to pair beautifully with whatever you're sipping. Service here has mostly been great during my visits, and the staff are friendly and actually excited about the cocktails they serve -- which makes a difference. Whether you're grabbing happy hour early in the evening or making a night of it with friends, Dragonfly delivers a memorable experience that feels distinctly Detroit and totally worth the trip. I'll definitely be back!
