Brookfield Farm is our CSA…read more What is a CSA, you ask? Community Supported Agriculture. Basically, you pay the farm some cash, and they grow food. Tons and tons of food. Organically. Biodynamically. Locally. Then, they pack up a ton of boxes and send them off to the Boston area, where you can pick up your box. Every week, from June to November, there is a box full of tasty, fresh, local veggies waiting for you. It can't be beat. They are really good with telling you what you are getting (this is particularly helpful for those who are not veggie geeks). They put out a newsletter each week telling you what is new on the farm, what new foods you will see in your box, and they even include recipes. Because now that you have a four-pound bok choy, you need to figure out what to do with it. If you live closer to the farm, you can pick up your food there, and you can stop by for all the pick your own goodies (strawberries, peas, flowers). We will definitely do this again and would recommend it to anyone!

It was nice to bring my 2 year old and let him run around the farm. The produce was great quality, and organic from what I've read. Sadly, we wasted more than we ate. You pick a lot at one time, and must eat it quick or it goes bad, and being a full time working family, we found it hard to find time to prepare everything. I won't be signing up again next year, It's not the farms fault, but my own. I would like to visit once in awhile next year, and just buy what I need at the moment.

Ok, I'm not a buffet kinda girl in general, but the stuff they have in their buffets are incredible! slow cooked meats, fresh hot potatoes, mac and cheese, grilled veggies--oh just so much goodness! There is also a cold buffet section which is excellent too. Plus there is a beautiful place to eat if you go outside where it overlooks the farms and bike trails. My idea of heaven: Spending the day with your loved one around Northampton, shopping, indulging, drinking coffee, then on the way home stopping at this place for a few grocery items and dinner at the hot buffet (with dessert) while overlooking the bike trail and farms.
