This season, I've been there twice and my wife once, all at different times. Each time, there was an excessive amount of waiting involved. Twice, I was told that the food item I asked for, was not available. My wife, the same. I'm talking basics here, not strange and rare items. There also seems to be some items offered cold that normally should be offered hot. No one that I know wants or craves a cold golumpki or pierogi. 3 separate visits and 3 disappointments. Recommendation? Find a few things you do really well, and stick with it. If you still have pickles, start with that. They were great.

Cannot say enough about an orchard with a view!…read more Did a fall foliage drive and decided to drive past the orchard. I always drive through in the winter for the beautiful sunrise over the mountains in the distance. Never seen it in the fall before and it was busy! Too be expected as my buddy owns Fern Valley Farm in Wilbraham so I already have my apples for the year. But, my girlfriend and I stopped for some cider and a cider donut at one of the stands off to the side in the parking lot. I had a cider lemonade which I enjoyed. Babe had a regular cider which was not to her liking as, in my opinion, coming from Michigan there is a lot of culture she's getting used to around here. We take the tractor ride down to the orchard and pick bushel's to take home. Many different kinds of apples to pick. Cider donuts and cider are available in the little store. There is now a really successful and well run business in that spot. This is it!!! I visited today and was absolutely delighted to discover incredibly low prices with absolutely flawless produce. Mangos were 99¢ to $1.39 depending on size, a full pint of blueberries were $2.99, plantains were 3/$1, 4 mini cucumbers ended up being $1, tomatoes were $2.99 where folks at other stores charge double for the same thing!! I can't quote you on all the prices accurately, but if you know your fruits and veggies the way I do, you'll notice that the prices are generally 20-50% lower than other stores. Also - FRESH dates. Yeah. My American ignorance was challenged today, folks. I'm glad. The owner gave me one to try and it was great! I'm specifically writing this review because I really really want this business to thrive. Please go visit!! You'll be happy! :) The owner genuinely cares about the customers being happy, the quality of the produce leaving his store, and the prices are fantastic. What more could you possibly ask for?

I especially like the sign for the farm stand area, i am not sure who painted it but it is gorgeous and epitomizes my feelings of this location.

Monadnock. Fog half-covered the mountain this morning, which was very dramatic. At Rosaly's I got to do something I've never done before: hand-pick my own flowers from a professional garden. They give you a pair of scissors and some water in a bucket, and let you go to town. Flowers are $12 for a dollar. I picked myself silly and spent only about $3. They also offer pick-your-own herbs as well as a sweet little selection of fruit and tourist toys. What a place!

They go out of their way, even on busy days, to answer any questions you have about the produce, the farm, or anything else about the area that you want to know. They keep the place looking great all season long (both the "you pick" fields and the indoor store. The most attractive thing about this farm share upon first glance was the great hours. You can go Saturdays from 10-3, and W-F from 1-630PM to pick up your share. These hours are unbeatable compared to other CSAs in Western Mass and they make it easier for busy people with odd work schedules to participate, which I appreciate. I also appreciate that they have THREE farm share sizes to chose from. I strongly recommend getting the largest one, and getting a buddy (or buddies) and sharing it, it is a great deal and a ton of produce! The prices and how everything works is clearly spelled out on their website so you can check it out before you head there. The produce selection is also pretty awesome. We are never bored. My favorite part about farm shares is that it forces you to eat way more vegetables than you probably would otherwise, and it also forces you to be creative with recipes and explore new dishes to cook. The U-Pick component is also a lot of fun, especially if you have kiddos. The current U-Pick selection is quite robust, unlike other farm shares where you just pick a handful of items and you're out. The fresh herbs alone are enough to make the U-pick worth every ounce of sweat required to pick them on a hot summer day. Finally, I must comment on the view. I attached some pictures to make that point. Being at the base of Mt Tom provides beautiful views as you are out in the field picking produce. It definitely makes you stop for a moment, take a deep breath, and smile. I strongly recommend this place!

Fresh high quality produce and an amazing selection for such a small place. If they don't have it you don't want it. We've all grown up on mediocre fruits and vegetables because supermarkets buy it out of season and ship stuff in. Fruit for example is never benefited from being refrigerated and it retards the growth period making a mediocre product. Give this place a try, not only is it delicious, the prices are better than supermarkets. I'm here at least twice a week.

Brookfield Farm is our CSA…read more What is a CSA, you ask? Community Supported Agriculture. Basically, you pay the farm some cash, and they grow food. Tons and tons of food. Organically. Biodynamically. Locally. Then, they pack up a ton of boxes and send them off to the Boston area, where you can pick up your box. Every week, from June to November, there is a box full of tasty, fresh, local veggies waiting for you. It can't be beat. They are really good with telling you what you are getting (this is particularly helpful for those who are not veggie geeks). They put out a newsletter each week telling you what is new on the farm, what new foods you will see in your box, and they even include recipes. Because now that you have a four-pound bok choy, you need to figure out what to do with it. If you live closer to the farm, you can pick up your food there, and you can stop by for all the pick your own goodies (strawberries, peas, flowers). We will definitely do this again and would recommend it to anyone!
