Super cute farm store and the best view around! We visited on a Saturday afternoon and enjoyed natural sodas sweetened with honey, popcorn, and mini donuts. The peaches in the fridge looked amazing as did many of the other products around the store. Employees were friendly as well. Definitely worth a stop when in the area, and be sure to sit outside and enjoy the view. read more

Cannot say enough about an orchard with a view! Did a fall foliage drive and decided to drive past the orchard. I always drive through in the winter for the beautiful sunrise over the mountains in the distance. Never seen it in the fall before and it was busy! Too be expected as my buddy owns Fern Valley Farm in Wilbraham so I already have my apples for the year. But, my girlfriend and I stopped for some cider and a cider donut at one of the stands off to the side in the parking lot. I had a cider lemonade which I enjoyed. Babe had a regular cider which was not to her liking as, in my opinion, coming from Michigan there is a lot of culture she's getting used to around here. I wouldn't put it past this being a fun trip for any family! Looks as if you get a tractor ride to some of the apples if you so choose to do that. read more

Love this place! Every year my family of 7 siblings and their families take an annual trip up the Mohawk Trail and Apex is our first stop. Beautiful view over looking the valley. We take the tractor ride down to the orchard and pick bushel's to take home. Many different kinds of apples to pick. Cider donuts and cider are available in the little store. P.S. there is also a new cidery located directly across the street that has fantastic (6%) ciders. read more

Beautiful views but not an epic apple picking experience. There are better places in Mass. The trees are not mature and you can't climb the trees for apples. Yes-we went at the end of the picking Season but the owners weren't friendly. read more

What a hidden treasure in western Massachusetts!! The views are stunning and their variety of apples impressive. The day we visited, Apex had crafts, food vendors and a band. The donuts are to die for. Lots of families enjoying a beautiful fall day. The store had local foods and gifts. And of course, we brought home some wonderful pumpkins for Halloween decorations. We are already planning another trip to pick out our Christmas tree. read more

Wow! We had an absolutely heavenly experience picking apples at Apex. We could not believe that there were no crowds on such a spectacular day! The farm is situated on the most scenic visa overlooking the valley. The farm store is bright, immaculate, and features an array of homegrown veggies and of course apples! We picked Gingergold, Macs and Cortlands. The fruit was absolutely at the peak. We would go out of our way to come back. We pick apples every year and this farm is head and shoulders above the rest in terms of quality of fruit and ease of picking without the need for a long ride or walk out to the orchard, a great consideration for anyone with mobility issues. read more

Turned off the main road at the promise of peaches. Definitely worth the detour. They have a cute farm store. Lots of fresh peaches and apples. Also cheese, treats, drinks, and little gifts. We Love Apex Orchards! From the outstanding staff to the views to the freshest and best fruit (their peaches are my favorite). The farm is well maintained and clearly cared for. The store has a great selection of local gifts and food items, they have pick Your Own and events on weekends in the fall. And my favorite new addition is the little food truck serving fresh Mini Cider Donuts and other goodies! It's only open on weekends but the donuts are amazing! We highly recommend Apex and we love going each year. read more

This place is great to take a family! The view is out of this world. They have rows and rows of apples waiting to be picked. Everything is well marked so you know what each type of apple is. The store is stocked with lots of local items, and they did have a food truck, but we didn't get anything so I can't comment on how good it is read more

As part of the Franklin County Cider Days, I went to Apex Orchards this year to attend "Bring Your Own: Tasting Homemade Ciders". I had two ciders to submit: one mine, the other my fiance's. For $5, you receive a 2015 tasting glass, which we purchased on Saturday in Shelburne Falls (can be used for more than one event, good for 2015). The room where we did the tasting/talk was pretty cold, so definitely bring a jacket if you're there for any kind of event where you'll be sitting for long periods of time. The orchards (and store) appear to be well managed. They had people assisting with parking, perhaps only for the event, but it was much appreciated. I purchased a 1/2 bushel of Cortland apples (seconds) for $13 or so to make apple butter and an apple pie with. These Cortlands were ok, a little bit mealy and I could definitely tell they were "seconds". They did have a deal going on that if you bought two 1/2 bushels of seconds, you got one 1/2 bushel of seconds for free, but I didn't take them up on that. The apple cider donut was ok, not one of the best I've had, but passable. Very pretty, quaint orchard that isn't as highly trafficked as some of the others. A nice, off-the-beaten-path find for fall weekends. read more

I've had a chance to go around western MA and see a whole bunch of different orchards, but Apex went far and above of what my expectations of what an orchard could be. I drove up the the road to what didn't seem like much at first, but opened up to one of the most beautiful views I've been able to witness in this beautiful state. I went into the store and was hit with the fresh delicious smell of ripe apples. I was greeted by Becca, who happens to be one of the nicest, most knowledgeable workers I've ever had the chance to speak with. She even introduced me to apples I'd never heard of. Becca then directed me up the road, telling me that their new store would be opening soon and would offer an even better view. Driving up a bit more, I was able to easily locate their new store, and again, the view was breath taking. I will be sure to visit Apex Orchards each time I get to visit. read more

Beautiful view! We went to the Apex farm store and bought Red Haven peaches and Honeycrisp apples. These are the most scrumptious peaches and apples that I have ever tasted. These free-stone peaches have a great texture and are "chin-dripping" juicy. Exactly what I want in a peach. They even had samples to taste before you buy. Honeycrisp are my favorite apple, but in recent years they have not been quite so good at other places. The ones that I bought today were sweet, crunchy, and juicy! read more

My new favorite place to pick apples. This orchard reminds me of something out of Kurosawa's DREAMS and I cannot wait to go there in the spring to see the steep hillside covered in blossoming fruit trees. I don't ordinarily prefer Cortlands, but the Corts I picked there this past October were the best apples I've ever tasted. They also had good late peaches left, cider donuts (of course) and I picked some great sugar pumpkins. Apex is doing it right. AND while you pick, you have a clear view of 3,165 foot Mount Monadnock, almost sixty miles to the northeast in New Hampshire. read more

This place is really cool! I love the fruit and honey! And the view is amazing!!! I can even see my house! The people seem friendly, and it's pretty good for kids, though they might get kind of bored after a while. I love all the selections, including the really cool and weird natural sodas, like blue raspberry. I'm very excited for my next trip! read more
