After reading an article about the most comfortable shoes like that, I saw Allen-Edmonds near the top of the list and their website showed they had some shoes with darker soles. Since it's on my way home, I stopped by after work and was helped by a very knowledgeable and helpful sales representative. He measured my foot since I've never worn this brand before and brought a few samples of various sizes and widths to make sure I found the perfect fit. He was very helpful in making sure I found the right shoe in black and I appreciated the time and attention he paid. Since it was my first purchase, he helped me get 10% off, which was welcome. Overall, a great experience and I love the shoes so far. I'll give it a couple of weeks and if I continue to love these shoes, I'm going back for the same pair in brown!

Two words - memory foam…read more While I admit I've never much paid attention to the Skechers brand in general nor am I really a sneaker hound at all (I won't EVER pay $100 for any sneaker), I am more for a decent looking sneaker for a fair and reasonable price more than appearance or name. I bought a pair of Skechers this past year due mainly for the price and now I look at them in a whole new light. While there are different types of "memory foam", the memory foam in the pair I got are great. So great and comfortable I might add, that I'm already planning on buying another pair for next year's vacation for myself, my fiance, and my son. I rarely venture to Cross County these days since I'm not much of a fan, but just today happened to see this location and took a look. The store layout is clean and organized. While there were several customers inside, I only noticed one employee who looked busy. I looked around a bit and the prices were decent enough - though online you could probably find the same pairs for a few dollars cheaper. All in all, a good location and a reason to come to Cross County. I can't stand the Foot Action/Foot Locker stores (nor their prices), but if I need to come to Cross County at all for sneakers - this would be the place.

I had a pair of shoes recently that went missing during the delivery process and they replaced them even though it was not their. They didn't have to do this, yet they did, even as a small business that has taken a hit during the pandemic. This business understands the importance of amazing customer service and for that I will always continue to support them. This is rare these days! Omayra at the Madison Avenue location helped me with this issue - a big thank you to her! Also, the quality of the shoes is great! Extremely comfortable. And of course the designs are the best - always inventive, clever, and beautiful. I always get compliments on my shoes. Even if you aren't in the market for shoes, they have "pockets" which are little zip cases that are affordable and also great for gifting. I just love this store!

The floor of the shop is fairly dimly lit with accent lights on the shoes that want you to buy them. However, the stock room is down a spiral staircase that poor Jamie had to trek up and down to try yet another size or style for me. I settled on a fantastic scarf and a new pair of lace up high-end red dock martin-ish boots. So cool! Obviously, this location is a welcome addition in the new designer mall that is SoHo as the place was very busy. One really interested component to this store is the back wall where they are trying a new trend: hand-painted leather goods. Apparently, if you were to buy, say, a groovy pair of lace up leather shoes but wanted them in blue, there are artisans on side that will actually customize them for you! Ostensibly, you will be the only one you know -- perhaps the only one period -- to wear such a shoe, sport such a handbag and the like. Now that I have the red boots, maybe blue will be my next weakness!

01/30/36 Gone are the days of enthusiasm in retail sales…read more There used to be a thrill of serving a customer, a rush of adrenaline to get them to buy, a challenge to get a multiple sale on shoes. Nowadays, the thrill seems to be gone. I walked into New Balance, Garden City NY, I got half way in the store and it was quiet. No greeting, no, how can I help you today, or what kind of tennis shoe/ sneakers are you interested in. It's more like you're here for a reason and you're not going anywhere else. After I spoke first to the young sales rep and asked for the men sneakers and the wife with liye weight sneaker, he indulged me. Going forward, after I choose the type I was interested in, the rep brought the sneakers over, took the sneakers out of the box and left me alone to engage in conversation with his coworkers. Presentation not only matters with food, it matters in all things. The sneakers he brought over, laces were on a unattractive pattern. I'm not nitpicking, just noticing the difference in the present and the past. I'm all about paying a pretty penny for comfort. When I used to run half marathons, I tried to skimp on a pair of running shoes and long story short, after a 5 mile run, the next day, my feet hurt so bad, I could hardly walk, no more $65 imitation of NEW BALANCE. So I chose a two pair $199 and $94. I would say that the value I received was pretty fair for the type show I needed. I need one for physical therapy and one for every other day use. Of course after the weather clears up. In conclusion, there are improvements needed but time has changed and those changes may never come back. Not for nothing, a little bit more of working one on one with the customers when there's 4 customers in the store and 4 sales reps on the floor. Inspire more, yelp more!
