Pretty disappointed with the service today. We had a Hispanic lady maybe around 30-40s who was pretty unprofessional as far as this environment goes. This was my first time at this restaurant with someone who has been here three times himself. the waitress never introduced herself when she asked for our order, when she came around to ask everyone about the food she would skip us up and only speak with the family next to us. The food was great of course but this waitress made my experience horrible for me. I had to wait and look around countless times to ask for more drinks as she would come to the family across from us and automatically get them refills. Unsure of whether this was because we are black, but I do not want to factor that in. When we were ready to get our bill dealt with, she came to our table, we asked for containers and she brought containers without a bag to put them in. When we asked to pay our tab I took roughly over 8 minutes for her to return so we can pay. She realized we did not tip her as the service was obsolete, so when we asked for a bag for our containers she handed us the bag with an attitude as if we were giving her a hard time. Maybe she was having a bad day but compared to her service of the family across from us, behind us. And in other booths, they seemed to have a great time. I really wanted to like this restaurant but too many things went wrong during our family's visit. Service - I was pleasantly greeted by the host upfront and was told it would take about 15 minutes to get a table. It was nice having a dedicated wait area inside and ample seating outside the door. I also liked that they announce your table being ready over a speaker. We were seated promptly. And that's about where our good service ended. Upon being seated we waited quite a while to have our drink orders taken. Then several more minutes to get our coffees, and then even longer to get creamer. Our food took really long too, the party behind us got their ordered before we did. I am thankful that they at least got my kids' plates out before our food because they were hangry. I tried to be understanding of our server and the kitchen but something was just off because she wasn't attentive to us. Food - For the amount of time we waited for our food I'd expected us to be so hungry that we would just devour the food. Unfortunately, the chicken fried steak and my chilaquiles were really under seasoned. I never add salt to my dishes and even my husband was surprised that I asked for the salt. And I had to add even more. Ok maybe they're just used to catering to seniors who prefer less seasoned food? Maybe? I was also disappointed that my plate came with scrambled eggs because chilaquiles is best with an over easy egg. She didn't even ask how I wanted my eggs. Servings were plenty, maybe that's what they're known for? Ambiance - Family friendly. The kids were offered kids menus with crayons. The kids' booster seats didn't sit safely in the padded booth seats, they were tipping over, I had to hold them upright and pushed the table closer to them to help secure the kids a bit more. We've heard about this place and have driven by many times so we finally decided to stop in and try the food. After looking online at menu options we pretty much knew what we were going to order. I went with the Country Platter, my wife had the Chilaquilles and my daughter had the classic burger. Everything I ordered was delicious. I like extra gravy on my biscuits so next time I'll ask for that. My wife didn't really like her chilaquilles. To be honest, it is just tortilla chips mixed with salsa. They weren't even softened at all. She didn't like her meal and was disappointed. My daughter didn't know her burger had double meat so she was like WOW. She said it was delicious. I continue to absolutely LOVE going to Kickback Jacks. I have been in absolute pain lately and after some therapy my hubby decided to treat me to my favorite breakfast spot--KBJs :) The staff is always ready to help with their courteousness and friendly smiles. It's always the little things that count and brighten my day. I had the avocado toast and it seemed plain because usually I have it with arugula and tomatoes but man oh man it had a little cup of pico de gallo on the side and I was in breakfast heaven! I kept asking the waitress, Naydeli, for more it just made the avocado toast and egg whites taste absolutely delightful! I also had it on rye bread which was different for me but gosh darn it, it all came together so tastefully! Our first visit was as a party of three on a Sunday during prime brunch time. They were super busy, but seemed to be moving through the waitlist quickly. We were seated much sooner than the wait time quoted by the hostess. Once seated, we were instantaneously approached about our drinks. Though they were busy, service was impeccable: attentive, friendly, quick, and efficient. Our food was even more amazing. Our order consisted of: - Baja Shrimp & Chicken Apple Sausage Skillet (our server recommended subbing the chicken apple sausage for the spicy sausage and it was great! I second her recommendation.) - Country Fried Steak and Eggs - 2 Egg Breakfast Favorites All of the things we ordered were delicious, good quality, and huge in size. Eggs on all of the dishes were cooked perfectly to their specifications and, despite some ordering modifications, the whole breakfast came out in a reasonable time and accurately! They have a full breakfast/lunch menu and a smaller menu for cheaper meals. Those cheaper priced meals were still large portions! The restaurant is probably family owned and been around for a bit. You don't really see a manager walking around and asking customers how they were doing, KJ's did. Service is great - we were checked up on multiple times by our server and workers walking around. We orders a coffee, Denver omelette and their Californian chicken sandwich.
