I went to Kick Axe yesterday (3/4/18) with a large group of friends and it was one of the best experiences I've had this year. Upon your arrival, you have to sign a waiver. We pre-paid for a private lane so I am not sure how it works if you show up on your own. Our "axe-pert" was Chris and he was/is awesome. He explained all of the rules and showed us how to effectively throw the axe at the target. I was a little worried about being on our own before hand but it absolutley helped to have someone there to guide us through the process. There are also shooting games and competitions that made it fun. The 1 1/2 hour time went by very quickly. I definitely will go back, hopefully soon! read more

My boyfriend and I went here this past Saturday and we had a blast! We booked our reservation for 8pm online and got their with 20 min to kill. It was such a fun ambiance from when we immediately walked in! They had cornhole outside as well as other bar games inside while you wait. We grabbed a drink each at the bar and everything was really reasonably priced. ($35 per person for 75minutes). We were in a group with 6 others, all coupled up, and everyone was so friendly and got along. Our "axe professional" Alex was awesome too. He made the games fun, but also set some safety regulations. We felt like such bad axes getting our share of axe throwing at Kick Axe Throwing! We never felt unsafe, as there was an axepert with us the whole time during our 75 minute experience. If you have a smaller group, be expected to pair up with another group. Children were also present, and there are child size axes for them (and less athletic adults.) There really is no feeling that can replicate the exhilaration of throwing an axe to a target. Other things to note- bring closed toe shoes (or wear some rubber boots or shame) and cash to tip your axepert. Would love to bring visiting family or friends here again! read more

Was noob and stayed noob the whole time. It's probably different per instructor, but the instructor we had didn't point out tips for each person in the group once we really started. Who knew that throwing an axe at a target would be so fun?! We rented out a space for my friends birthday and we had so much fun! We signed our waivers and got drinks at the bar, then they took us to our area and our instructor gave us a little lesson about how to throw, and watched us all as we did some practice throws! It was really nice because she would give us tips each time on how to improve our throws. She split us in to two teams and we played games against each other! They also have props for photos at the end! This is a great activity for a birthday, work event, or even if you just want a night out with your friends and want to change it up from the regular bar scene. read more

What an amazing time! Kick Axe was extraordinarily easy to book, reasonably priced and ran right on time. The location is very easy to get to if you're using the subway and the space is HUGE (and cute)! I had booked for a bachelorette party and we didn't have quite enough to reserve a solo cage but it was quiet enough when we showed that we got an entire area to ourselves. Edan, our Axe Expert, was PHENOMENAL. He did a great job of not only explaining & demonstrating, but I really appreciated his patience and humor. So much fun! I came here for a group work event and it was a great team building excercise. Our guide (Nathan) was excellent and was very patient. Despite it seeming inherently dangerous, it is very well run and as safe as one could expect (when throwing axes. . . ) Definitely, make sure you have the Boomerang app downloaded because you will have the opportunity for fantastic pictures. They don't offer food but you can order in and they make it incredibly simple. I didn't give it a fifth star because it is a little gimmicky (I put it in the category of paintball and bowling) and once you try it once, you won't necessarily be planning an immediate trip back. read more

Cool vibe. Had tons of fun thanks to my instructor Messiah. He helped improve my throwing and I felt safe despite being skeptical about throwing axes of all things around. The only thing I disliked was how one of the managers, I believe his name was John, was talking to his staff. His little power trip killed the vibe and his disregard for a visibly exhausted instructor next to my range by making him get off his resting stool was pretty tough to see. It also seemed as if he only had issues with the instructors of color. Kind of made me feel uncomfortable. Other than that, I would definitely go back. Great experience. read more

Recently took my company's team there for our 2017 year end celebration and we loved it. None of us had thrown axes before so there were a lot of bad jokes at the start and a little nervousness but everything was handled very well by the staff and you feel completely safe and they do a great job of teaching you how to throw an ax! We also ordered food and made liberal use of the bar and all of those things were very tasty and we enjoyed them tremendously. we booked beforehand from their website and there's a 50% discount because we book for Monday, which was a very good deal. it was pretty empty when we walk in but of course, i was only lucky to have a day off on a Monday afrernoon hence got to go here. 1 session is 1 hour 15 mins long, normal price is $35/person (+tax). you can book a whole lane if you're a huge group, if not you'll be joined with other people. make sure you wear covered shoes. they have instructors who will tell you all the basic and you can start throwing right away. it was really awesome actually. the instructor was a great guy, friendly, and quite entertaining too. he also serve as the "game master", so instead of just throwing randomly we actually play games with score systems and all. the instructor lead us through everything so it was a lot of fun. i was nervous of how terrible i'll do, but apparently axe throwing was very de-stressing, satisfying, and a heck lot of fun. on another note, the place was very cute, clean, comfortable, beautifully decorated, and the atmosphere was great. aside from the axe throwing, they have other games like jenga and board games. it's actually a great place to just sit and hang even after you're done throwing axes. the only problem is the food is not recommended. we ordered the pizza and it's so thin and dry (not in a good way), it's like eating crackers with cheese and sauce on top, with small size and not to mention overpriced. but honestly just skip the food and you'll have a great time! i would love to come back! read more

Kick axe throwing was such a fun experience! I had never done anything like this before so was a little timid signing up. Also only had a group of 2 so not sure how it would be sharing a range. We had Noah as our "axe pert" who was amazing! He made sure everyone knew what they were doing, had a good time, but most importantly kept everyone safe. Heads up, the axe perts work on tip so have some cash ready or have a Venmo account. We also found everyone else in our group was very friendly and we were all cheering each other on! This would be a great team building event or just something fun to do with anyone you would like to spend 1.25 hours with! They also have a bar with beer, wine, non alcoholic beverages, and snacks! Awesome place with an epic staff. It's a rarity that an establishment in NYC offer's a veteran discount, KickAxe does. So I wish there was a sixth star just for that. Thank you KickAxe!!! I booked a lane for my wife's birthday and everyone had an absolutely amazing time. There's wine (in can's - but there were no complaints) and a great beer selection. There's also food, but plenty of awesome food joints in the area if you want to snag something beforehand. This is a place we'll be back to soon.
