Didn't think it was my cup of tea. But after I got into it we had a good group we were paired with. It was . Great service and point person was fun. Never had beer usually don't like the bitter taste. But the bar tender helped me choose. Was not a fan of the pizza. Pizza (margherita) yuck. .

This is probably my 3rd time here and I always forget to make a review so I'm getting to it now! The vibe of this place is always so welcoming. From the decor to the friendly staff. Decent drink options, I also tried the sangria which I can't wait to come back for and drink on a warmer day. They teach you how to throw the axe and do some practice rounds before the game begin! I like the option of booking a private lane or you will be mixed in with people but that's what makes it fun!

Great experience again for a birthday celebration. The birthday axe was a new apparatus to be used, requiring only a single arm and 3 points of contact. Our board was somewhat beat up and on its last legs, but we still had fun. Able to play in our range solely with a group of 5 as it wasn't that crowded 1 pm on a Sunday.

I brought my daughters on a Sunday, it was fantastic we had the place to ourselves for quite sometime (got there right after opening). The staff were very nice and our coach I believe her name was Piper was great very patient with us. I would recommend

Reservations are definitely recommended. Although I made the res for 4 pm (the time they open) for 4 people and tickets are paid during the booking in advance btw. Unfortunately, 1 person in our group wasn't able to make it. And we were told that since it was last minute, we couldn't get his portion refunded. =( Upon walking in, we were greeted w a warm welcome by the bartender Lawrence. Check-in by scanning the barcode they had in the front by the bar. Which was breeze. Afterward, we were introduced to Miller. Miller was our instructor the entire time. Since this was mine and another girlfriends' first-time axe throwing, he went over the safety instructions and showed us how to handle the axe. We had a few practice throws. Miller made the experience so fun and enjoyable, once our competitive game started. AND - We all managed to hit the bulls-eye! Awesome sauce! The entire game took a little over 1 hr, and we practically had the entire place to ourselves since we decided to come super early. Axe throwing is definitely an upper body workout. My shoulders are sore in a good way. They have tables to play Jenga and checkers. There was also a props section for photo ops. Shared a mushroom and garlic flatbread, which was so delicious. The crust was crispy, and the flatbread was so cheesy and garlicky. Yummy! Will be back and def recommend you to check out this establishment.

Team bonding with co-workers, alcohol, food, and lethal weaponry!!!!! Yay I'm in!!!! The instructor was patient and fun. I was hitting bullseyes before I left. Light drinks, Rosé, Corona, and lots of laughter. Empanadas were ok. Margherita pizza could have stayed in the oven a little longer. Props for pictures (including axes) and lots of board games. Definitely a great way to spend an sunny evening in Red Hook/Gowanus/Park Slope. Five stars for the instructor providing a wonderful experience and making it look soooooo easy.

Such a great spot in the Gowanus area for a friends night out or even a date night. The prices are fair in my opinion and the service is great. The staff is super friendly and helpful to explain how the game works. The environment is laid-back and allows you to meet other people while you're there. After your session of axe throwing there are games to play if you so choose. The food we ordered was not good at all, however, if that were to improve, this place would be five stars.

HEY!! If you're looking for some fun this unique place is for you! Nice location in the historic Williamsburg , Brooklyn New York around warehouses. Axe throwing is a fun activity, using real metal axes and a wooden dart board, in separated booths for protection. You must sign waiver to participate in axe throwing. You're given a very thorough explanation of how to use Axe, demonstration of experience by the wonderful staff. Your instructor will even suggest fun friendly competition between booths of Axe throwers. We competed against a couple we didn't know and had so much fun! 10/10 Food/drinks - Price range is $-$$ you can order food and drinks to your axe throwing booth. There's a full bar opposite of axe booths. Tips- There's an assortment of board games to play ( JENGA , Puzzles , playing cards, etc) Optional - Wear comfortable clothes casual to throw and be active. (Think bowling or golf). There's closed toe crocs available for those that wear open toe shoes. Parking is available on street. Reservations accepted and suggested ! :)

Kick Axe lives up to its expectations of all out fun. I enjoyed every minute of being here with my friends. We did not have a reservation and did a walk in but they accommodated us within five minutes of being there. It was a very smooth and easy check in process. Apart from the axe throwing area they are a socializing area with various seats and games that can be played. There was bear pong, connect four, hungry hippos, jenga, sorry etc. They give you up to a hour and a half of axe throwing, the instructors are very detailed in explaining what you should do and shouldn't do for your own safety. They do not offer hard liquor as well it's for your own safety, but they do have beers, wines and canned light in alcoholic beverages. There's various finger food options as well although I did not eat anything. The axe throwing was very eventful and we played various axe throwing games to compete against each other. After axe throwing we sat around and played Jenga and connect four. I love the overall open space concept and lounge are they offer even if you aren't there to axe throw. I must say they as well have a great music selection that's played while you're there. Overall I'll rate my experience a 10/10 and will be coming back.

Overall rating: 4.9 I've been here a few times, once on a date when it opened a few years ago and once with a group of friends. It's a great experience if you've never been Axe throwing before. The food is also very surprisingly good! Like wow, I'm very surprised. I always wish this wasn't so far away from the subway, but what can you do. I'm not sure if I'll go again because it is a very specific experience. But I recommend giving a try if you're looking for something different.

Let's get this out of the way now -- I barely kicked axe but I had an axe-hilarating time! Miller, an Axe employee, got me off to a strong start. Miller was super engaging and friendly. He was also patient because I tell you, connecting the axe to the target took a hot minute. I eventually was nailing those targets with his guidance and instructions. Then it went all downhill and my aim wasn't as sharp. My axe landed mainly on the ground haha but I still had a ton of fun. I would definitely throw axes again.

What a fun time! I once had a golf club slip out of my hand and go sailing 50 feet away (no one was hurt, except my ego) so I had reservations about axe throwing. But I'm so glad I did this. It's like darts, except ya know, with sharp, bladed axes. The Kick Axe space was divided into three main areas. Shane, who was the manager, greeted us at the patio and told us that this is the first venue of its kind in the US to get a liquor license, a point not lost to us when we walked in through the front doors, into the bar. The open space in front of it had seating and felt like a mountainside lodge complete with a fake deer's head. There were axe puns on the wall to keep things fun, a performer singing acoustic covers of pop hits, and lots of games (board games, a huge connect four, a giant Jenga etc.) throughout. The back part had the courts, 10 stations with 2 axe lanes each. Mad props to our instructor Leivi who taught several of us noobs how to throw it down. He was really cool and down-to-earth. We practiced both two-handed and one-handed throws and by the end of the evening, most of us had gotten bullseyes. We put our skills to a test and played a game, the first team to reach 60 points wins. Nothing like friendly competition to make things even more fun. You can say I had an axellent time! Pun intended.

Unfortunately this place fell very flat. Leading with what we liked: Their mocktail offerings were good, promising a 0.0% ABV which is hard to come across when mocktails are offered. They serve oysters, which adds to that aphrodisiac experience of the oh so 'wow this is a former brothel!'. The bartenders and servers were fast and very sociable with the more sociable customers. The immediate entrance is very tight, and it was uncomfortable navigating the space. We expected there'd be more seating in the back, which there was, but it was limited and not offered to us until we asked for it. We honestly had no clue where it would be and only asked because of how this place was advertised. While it was comfy once we made our way back there, it was reminiscent of a lounge style bar space that almost any bar could replicate with the right room and budget. We didn't feel as though this hit the spot and were let down by this experience. I'm not sure if I can judge the menu of drinks/ foods as expensive, but we left hungry bc we couldn't justify some of the prices. In addition, I've seen a lot of complaints about the volume of the music: it's definitely loud at the front but a lot lower in that back lounge space. It's as loud as any bar's music level would be, but truth be told we were expecting music that matched the vibe of what was advertised and yes, at a lower volume.

They have a nice happy hour menu from Tuesday-Friday from 5 to 7 as well as all day on Sundays which has very decent prices such as an $8 old fashioned among other things (see the photo.) the bartenders I've had before have been friendly with some good recommendations. Outside of their wide selection of cocktails which run the gamut of liquors, they have a nice wine selection, a handful of craft beers, and a very small food selection. The first time I was here, I had one drink which was the excellent Star of The Ice Snow for $17 with Iwai 45 whiskey, brie-washed Carpano Antica, Fernet Branca, barrel-aged orange bitters, and sassafras bitters. It had a a bit of bitterness, some sweetness, some spice, and some light mint from the fernet and was a pleasant complex drink and was certainly worth it from the price. The second time I was here was just this evening where I had two drinks. I first went with something that I was thinking of getting the first time which is their outstanding Vivian Darkbloom for $15 with Union mezcal, lime, pineapple, charcoal, Velvet Falernum, and lime bitters. The drink has mild citrusy sweetness as well a bit of smoke from the mezcal and is probably my favorite drink I've had here though the other drink I had the first time gives it stiff competition. I asked the bartender what he recommends and after a small discussion, he said either The Bell Witch (which is a gin and chartreuse cocktail with a strong herbal flavor) or what I went with. Said drink was the Under a Cosmic Cloak for $16 with rhubarb infused rum, Trois Rivieres rum, Smith & Cross rum, yerba mate, lime, grapefruit, and whey. The bartender said that it wouldn't be overly sweet as the rum was milk washed and this was indeed the case with just a mild sweetness and some fruitiness. There was a light herbal flavor otherwise presumably from the mate as well as a light citrus note and overall, it was good though definitely the least complex of the drinks I've tried and probably my least favorite but was definitely not a bad drink. The drinks here are reasonably priced for the quality, the bartenders are friendly, and it is classy but not overbearingly so. I can see why it's popular and I wish I stopped in more.

Wouldn't go out of our way to return, but it was a pleasant spot for an afternoon glass of wine outside!
