I went to Kibo market to try their ready made sushi as I heard it's good. I got there one day as they were stocking their shelves with the rolls. I think the price is okay for downtown. The quality is in the middle. It's very convenience to come here to quickly grab maki rolls. They are also friendly & the service is fast at the counter. But in my mind nothing beats freshly made maki rolls. The way they make it at Kibo is like a factory. It's cheaper than going to a restaurant. But the quality isn't as good as a restaurant. So it's really up to the individual to decide if it's worth it. On a day when I can't decide what to eat Kibo makes things easy & convenient. It's cheaper than other options at union station. But I wouldn't eat here all the time. I didn't like their torched sushi for example. But for standard maki rolls (e.g. salmon & avocado) it's fine. read more

This place has the best appetizers! I am a huge fan of appetizers, and this place did not disappoint, I ordered the glass noodles or japchae, which were unexpectedly so good with lots of savoury flavour . I also got the sashimi appetizer, which was very fresh tasting and lots of fish flavor, which is great. I had to try the Takoyaki and vegetable tempura as those are my favorite! They did not disappoint and were hot and crispy. For the sushi itself, I got the Scallop roll as I had never tried it before and wanted to try something new. I personally didn't like the flavor, but it was prepared very well. The only thing I would improve is that it is a little bit expensive for the fancier items, but the quality does make up for it. read more

I was looking for good sushi places around and saw that Kibo Sushi had an extensive menu and great reviews so we decided to pop by for lunch! We all each got miso soup and a salad as a starter. I got the Maki Set B which includes the dynamite roll and spicy salmon roll ($15.95). My sister and I split the butterfish roll ($6.95). My brother got the bento box with shrimp and tempura veggies ($13.95). In terms of portion sizes, I have not seen a bento box with this much food and this great of a deal at other restaurants before. For the sushi, it was delicious and presentation was beautiful. The maki set was served on a wood board with ample wasabi and ginger. The rice to fish ratio was excellent and the fish tasted so fresh. I loved the dynamite roll and the tempura was still extra crispy. This was also my first time having butterfish. Not a sushi connoisseur so I can't eloquently describe what I tasted but I know it tasted great. The prices are fair and for what quality sushi you're getting, I felt it was worth it. Kibo Sushi also has a $5 and $10 cash and carry deal where you can purchase a small or large tray of their prepackaged sushi. It looked like a good deal as well. I came here one night at their Bloor St W location with a group of people. I got the salmon bento box which comes with miso soup. I find it strange that they charge the same price whether you get the salmon, chicken, pork or beef. The bento box comes with rice, salad, Japchae and gyoza. Everything was cooked fine and tasted well but it didn't stand out from any other Japanese or Korean places. Just be aware that if you come a party of ten people or more there is a service charge of twenty percent. read more

Sushi and oysters? Yes! Enjoyed my time at my first Kibo restaurant (didn't know it's a chain). Not only that they also serve buck a shuck daily after 5pm! The oysters were good but I didn't like the selection of the sauces. Even just the basic cocktail sauce is good too. Love that they have Aburi/torched sushi at a afforable price with many selection of sushi you can think of. I think the combo was worth it. It also comes with a salad and miso soup. The small rolls are 6 pieces while the large roll are 10 pieces. What's good is that there are pictures of the food in the menu so you know what to expect/how it looks like. The chicken karrage was crispy and not so heavy on the batter which makes it really good. Will come back when I'm craving for sushi! read more

I love ordering dinner from Kibo Sushi. They have an extensive menu filled with a variety of sushi, maki rolls, Japanese side dishes and appetizers, bento boxes, and desserts. Whenever I order, we tend to use their website to make an online order and then pickup. They have a pickup promo going on right now and they're offering 20% off on pickup orders paid with cash. During quarantine, it's been great ordering sushi takeout because it transports well and KIBO really takes the trouble to make sure all your items are packed well, separately, and tightly so nothing moves around. The tempura is always fresh and hot which I appreciate, as I've had cold tempura from other sushi restaurants in the past. They don't use too much rice on their maki rolls either and instead stuff the rolls with the fillings you choose. The prices are fair for the portion sizes and they also offer combos that allow you to try a different dishes for a low cost. I like their big rolls, they're delicious, and they have quite a few vegetarian options as well. read more

This particular location took over what used to be Myato Gastro Pub, which I have also eaten at. This location of Kibo is relatively new and has kept the same decor that Myato had in place, making it a very classy and date worthy spot. It definitely is the nicest Kibo location that I have seen and heard several other customers commenting on how lovely it was as well. The location is not wheelchair accessible and the washrooms are downstairs in the basement. They do not have wifi but you can connect to a nearby A&W wifi. My boyfriend and I ordered the Spicy Sushi Trio, edamame and shrimp tempura. The spicy sushi trio includes spicy California roll, spicy salmon roll and spicy tuna. The sushi was fresh and very flavorful. The edamame was delicious and had a good amount of salt on it. The shrimp tempura had good sized shrimp and was well coated. The presentation for all dishes was very nice and also most upscale then other Kibo locations. I docked a star because of the service. The bartender lead us to our seats and gave us the menus. A lady came by, took our orders and gave us some water. The food came out quickly but it took awhile to get our bill and pay. I think this is because this location for busy and the sever lady seemed a bit overwhelmed. If they could fix the wait time for the bill they would get full marks. Kibo has been my regular takeout spot for sushi for more than a year - the sushi is always fresh and great! However, I had a terrible experience this week. My online order was supposedly ready but when I arrived, there was a long delay. The restaurant also had several other people waiting for their orders without any guidance regarding social distancing, or acknowledgement of the wait. We also inquired about the "walk in special", however, knowing that there was some delay with our existing order, wanted to make sure that the new order was ready to go, rather than needing preparation. We asked the staff member, and she specified that it "was ready now". This was a blatant lie as the restaurant then took nearly 25 minutes to prepare this order. While being understaffed is understandable in these times, it was quite irresponsible to have several people waiting for their orders for so long with any regard to social distancing. Additionally, it is even more outrageous to lie about an order being ready and make customers wait an additional 25 minutes in a packed waiting area. We waited for over 40 minutes for two orders which the restaurant had specified were ready. read more

Used to be a regular and loved this place and the food, but they lost me as a customer in one fell swoop. I went in and paid for two $5 cash and carry deal, and wanted to also pay and enjoy a quick warm tea before heading out into the cold. I was told I wasn't allowed to actually eat the sushi I already paid for while drinking the tea I also wanted to pay for since it's cash and carry only. It was very cold outside and some compassion and basic customer service would have gone a long way, however instead... I wasnt served the tea and then I was ignored by the staff, taking other customers over me... I pressed on and the server said "I already made up my mind". We have been getting delivery from this restaurant about once per month and just ordered during the COVID lock down. So glad to see the quality has not been affected at all. Maki is all extremely tasty - get the lobster roll if you like lobster. I also love the sashimi options - l love the lightly seared butterfish and the salmon is always perfectly cut. Yesterday, my sister and I went to Kibo sushi. We were looking forward to it since it was the first time we dined-in since Covid-19. We were seated promptly by the server, who was super friendly. The customer service was good but the problem was the FOOD. We ordered: spicy Korean fried chicken, Bulgogi bento box with tempura with Dynamite roll, and Kibo signature (California roll topped with torched salmon & scallop). My sister and I are Korean - we know how Korean foods should taste. But nearly EVERYTHING we had was overly SALTY; the fried chicken, the bulgogi, and even the miso soup. The miso soup was the most saltiest miso soup I ever had in my life. The rolls were terrible too. They were not fresh; the sushi was falling apart - I imagined it's what T&T sushi would taste like. Honestly, the only good thing from the foods that we ordered was the tempura. But even the tempura sauce came with this teriyaki? type of sauce that was sooo salty. I don't understand. I am usually the type to get excited about the tempura dipping sauce - it should be light and sweet but come on... teriyaki sauce? It was super overwhelming. We spent a total of nearly $50 for 3 items that left us a bad impression of Kibo sushi altogether. At the end, the server asked us if we liked the food, and I told her that it was "slightly salty for our liking." She said she appreciates customer feedback and would let the kitchen know. I hope they can really make changes to the taste. Oh btw, when I got home, I had a massive headache. It could be the sodium overload - who knows? I am giving two stars for two reasons: 1) The nice server 2) the tempura (minus the teriyaki dipping sauce). read more
