The super nice lady at the counter has suggestions if you have any questions and they bring the meal to your table. We also ordered the No 40 pho to share and it had tons of noodles and meat. The broth was clear and flavorful. It looks like they're moving to a larger location across the way so hopefully there will be more in house seating but either way I suggest you make your way down to this flavor spot. read more

I really wanted to like this restaurant since they have high Yelp ratings. I am Vietnamese and I was VERY disappointed with the food. It's TOO Americanized. It is located downtown Orinda in a cute alley of stores. It's small inside with a few tables and a few tables outside. I "believe" they pre-cook their meats. I ordered a Grill Pork Banh Mi and Grill Pork Bun (vermicelli noodles)... they call it a salad. Both meats were super dry and not hot. It lacked flavor. I could only taste the "saltiness" (fish sauce). The bread was soft and the veggies were crispy. The sandwich needed more Aioli. Kicker, they charge you .50 extra for Aioli (mayo). Grill Pork Bun was bland. They only give you a small sized dressing. It's not enough for the portion size. If you want extra dressing, they charge you .50! WHAT... give me a break. AGAIN, it's Americanized. It lacked flavor... but the veggies are fresh and crunchy. If you're on a diet, this would be great meal. The Thai Iced Tea is good. I won't be returning back. I guess it's good enough for the Orinda residents. If you want REAL Vietnamese food, go to Pho Viet in Pleasant Hill. Food is amazing! read more

The staff are very friendly and they have a cute little sunny outdoor patio for you to sit... It is not a big place so you can't come there with parties of like 6 to 8 but you could make that work if you put tables together they would be happy to accommodate you. Great vegetarian and meat options! The marinated tofu is wonderful! My only downside is they don't have crispy fried eggrolls... Fresh, a good balance of ingredients (making it not too dry, not too wet), and the bread was just right. Definitely returning to try other items on their menu. Stopped by for a quick lunch with my co-workers at Orinda. There were plenty of street parking during lunch time and the service was pretty fast (waited less than 10 mins). We ordered inside and were pleasantly greeted by the people at the counter and they took our orders right away. The five spice banh mi hits the spot! I was at first taken aback by the size of it but I know some of my Viet friends would appreciate that it's not too dough-ey because there's not too much bread! The fillings were savory and the veggies were fresh! Even though it's not as big as other banh mi's out there, it satisfied the cravings and the appetite! Kibi's is a great casual dinning or take-out option in the Theatre District of Orinda. Their bahn mi and summer rolls are very tasty, with lots of vegetarian and vegan options. I've thought their soups were alright (if a bit underwhelming), but was disappointed by how much disposable plastic waste they use to serve the soups to you, even if you opt to eat in, (not very eco-friendly, and off-putting to eat boiling hot soups out of single use soft plastic take-out bowls). While it's a small venue with only about 3 or 4 tables inside to sit at, it's clean and nicely decorated in a modern way. Service is excellent. read more
