I ordered The Brando (their Italian sandwich) and it was fantastic. The Calabrian chili aioli completely made the sandwich, I'd never had it before and now I'm officially a fan. The place itself has a cool old school Italian deli feel with plaid tablecloths, and the staff told me they just opened in June 2025. I grabbed mine to go since I was working the convention center, but it looked like a cozy spot to sit down too. It's a little hidden, but totally worth seeking out. Definitely one of those spots I'll stop at again when I'm in the area.

The restaurant is part of a mixed-use building with apartments. Note that there are several spots in the apartment lot reserved for Coco and Maple guests, which is key as it is situated towards the end of the downtown area. Whereas Coco and Blu is more cozy, this is definitely leaning more industrial and modern. They retain a similar eclectic vibe with wallpaper and mismatched furniture. Orders are placed at the counter, and this time around we went for avocado toast and a Nutella strawberry toast for my kids. Both delightful! Other fan favorites for us include the quiche, matcha lattes, and espresso and tonic.

Though a bit obscure and hard to find, those who want a good sandwich know where to go. There is a curated selection of Italian, French and German sandwiches. This was my first visit so ordered a Cipriani with Italian mortadella, marscapone(!), arugula, pistachios and balsamic. It was the marscapone that sold me, but this was generously portioned and (let's be honest) messy for me to eat because the sandwich was piled high. I had to take half to go. I heard a few orders for the Gusti dal Nord (prosciutto, Gorgonzola, arugula and pear), and that sounds enticing as well. The bread is fresh and crusty. They had a tomato soup the day I was there, and I read on the website that they have pierogato -- Eastern European dumplings.

I thought that was a bit crazy for two wraps so I just decided to drive to the restaurant myself. Got two Dubai style chicken Shawarma wraps and asked for sauce when I picked up the order. He gave me some sport peppers and some garlic sauce. I asked for hot sauce and he said there would be an extra charge for it. When I looked at the container it was a small container of some kind of hot sauce. I decided to skip as I already paid for my order. The amount of meat is generous, but the flavor is very very mediocre. It just tasted like a wrap filled with warm lettuce, warm tomatoes, warm garlic sauce, surrounded in bland chicken inside a tortilla that was buttered with sesame seeds on top and then toasted. The tortillas were all hanging on the edge of the lid that all of their condiments are stored in. It was really bizarre. Would be nice if the meat had some flavor or at the very least they offered sauces without an additional charge. Total was $29 Will not be returning.

We ordered chicken karaage, potstickers, salmon avocado sushi, and I had the katsu sandwich. All the food items we ordered came separately over a span of 20+ minutes, with the sandwich arriving last and cold. Not only did the sandwich come on a cold sourdough bread, the meat also had an unusual texture and so I ended up throwing it out. The other items we ordered were lacking in flavor. The chicken karaage was prepared well but it had no flavor. I'm regret spending money at this establishment.

So we got out of the car and saw someone pull up in front of the restaurant and jump out at 11:59. As soon as the door was unlocked at 12pm, this customer went in, and a few others after them. This is a small joint, and it was already half full by the time we ordered, then sat down (they told us the table at which to sit). I didn't know, but asked, and found out that a salad bar and miso soup are also included. The salad bar was pretty decent, with fresh vegs. They even had French fried onions (my guilty pleasure) and a very good House dressing (ginger vinaigrette). The portions are enormous. The couple next to us got ramen, and it was practically overflowing. We ordered takoyaki (too much food, we didn't need). I had the Pork Katsu bowl and my companion had a Katsu curry. I wished I had ordered the curry -- it looked dark and rich and thick like pudding (not like a boxed curry). They also gave us a bonus piece of chicken karaage which was so large and crispy. I think I'll get the curry next time, or the ramen. We originally came because we were going to get a karaage sando, but get the curry.
