I still remember my very first taco…read more It was 1971, just after I moved to East Gary, Indiana. I had made a couple of friends at school, and one day they took me to a small Mexican fast food place called Arman's. I had never had a taco before. I didn't even know what one was. They ordered for me. That first bite changed everything. It was spicy, full of flavor, and unlike anything I had ever tasted. I couldn't stop eating them. Back then, tacos were under fifty cents, so I went as often as I could afford. That taste stayed with me. Fast forward to a couple of years ago when I discovered A1A Burrito Works. I walked in, and to be honest, the decor didn't impress me. But I wasn't there for ambiance. I ordered two tacos to go and headed back to my car. That's where everything changed. I tried to eat while driving. That was a mistake. These tacos were massive, packed with meat, lettuce, and everything that comes with "The Works." I had to pull over just to properly enjoy them. And then it hit me. One bite took me straight back to 1971. After decades of eating tacos all over the place, these were the first ones that brought that feeling back. The same bold flavor. The same satisfaction. The same experience I never forgot. Since then, I don't go anywhere else for tacos. If you care about flashy interiors, this might not be your place. But if you care about real flavor, generous portions, and food that actually leaves an impression, this is it. For me, A1A Burrito Works isn't just another taco spot. It's a time machine.

The service was always excellent and made you feel like you're in a real old school burger joint. No more. We tried it again this week for the first time in three years, but it's just not as good as in the past. The tallow fries were hot and delicious, but the burgers are not cooked as they once were, with a crispy edge. Now, the patty is just kind of gray and somewhat bland. The shakes were okay, but we miss the side-by-side shakes and special flavors they once had like Very Berry Strawberry. They could have adopted the service method many other fast-food restaurants use: ordering from a human being at the counter and the food is delivered to your table. That would be far better than the impersonal kiosk.

People like I encountered yesterday should not be working for KFC when there are many unemployed people in our country (not myself gratefully) who would welcome the opportunity to do quality work for KFC. Brianna horrible...details... I placed my order, got to the window only to be met by gruff Brianna, who did not give me my change of $5.00 I had to ask for it, I also had to ask for everything else I wanted, sauce, (s)fork, and in the end, I left with no napkins. Each time I asked MASSIVE RUDENESS the cashier, Brianna, without a word would slammed the window in my face, each time, then returned with the item - no kindness, no apology, no acknowledgement I had even spoken to her at all really. In the end I tried to cheer her by telling her I hoped her day got better to which she gruffly relied, that there was a new packer on the line and the problems were not her fault. Typical...blame someone else for everything...societies new norm. read more

He gave us some good recommendations, was attentive, and made the experience that much better. For the food, my bacon cheeseburger was delicious. So far, I'd put it in my top two burgers in my search for a great burger. The bacon cheese fries were pretty much what I expected and went well with it. The family had a few different meals. My wife got the BBQ chicken with green beans and mac & cheese. She wasn't a huge fan of the green beans, and the mac & cheese had more of a noodle taste than a cheesy/breadier flavor. My 5-year-old absolutely loved his chicken tenders, though. My teenager got the grilled chicken kids meal and said the chicken was "slimy" -- but hey, teenagers gonna teenager. I really liked the atmosphere here. The music, artwork, and Western-style décor gave the restaurant a fun feel without being too much. Overall, good food, good service, good atmosphere, and a family-friendly experience. Timothy definitely deserves a shoutout for taking care of us.
