I was nervous to eat here because of the awful reviews. I mean it's fast food.... and it's KFC.... so really the bar shouldn't be set THAT high lol. I read a lot of reviews of unfriendly service and long waits. Maybe we just lucked out because our cashier Lei was very nice and our food was ready within minutes. We then worried about getting home and our food being cold, but even after a 15 min drive home, the chicken still burned my fingers as I tried to pull out the pieces I wanted like I said, maybe it was just a fluke, but we are pretty satisfied. Almost immediately after eating at this KFC, I started to not feel so good with nausea and headaches. I also found it very difficult to communicate to the man (a local) behind the counter. He did acknowledge my presence. However, when I ordered a 3 piece meal, he informed me that all he had were "breasts". I then asked for a 2 piece meal instead (since 3 breasts would be too much for me). My 2 piece meal came with 1 breast and 1 wing; and he had just said that all he had left were breasts! This is the worst KFC in the nation - I do not think I am exaggerating. Slow ... real slow. How slow? 40 minutes for 2 boxes of Hot Wings and a bucket of original. I was driving by and decided to go there because of the convenience of drive thru and no cars waiting. Got to the window and male cashier is on the phone. Not sure if was a manager. Conversation is about customer having missing item. I'm waiting and I see a drink handed to me. Still on the phone. Then a bag handed to me. Still on the phone. I didn't pay yet. Maybe I should just drive away. I got my food. Finally he tells me my total. Still on the phone. Hands me my change. Walks away from the window without a thank you or acknowledgement. And you guessed it. Still on the phone. By the way - no straw, no napkins, no receipt. This was around 1pm. Maybe if you focus on the customer you have in front of you, you can get it right. Didn't come here in awhile because of previous bad experience in drive thru involving a manager. Something needs to be done. They are located in an area with many other choices. Let's be honest, if you're going to KFC it's probably because you've had it before and the great American business model that is fast food chain franchising allows you to comfortably rely on a consistently delicious product regardless of location. That said, I have NEVER encountered a sweeter or more friendly staff than the crew at this Kailua location. Truly lovely humans who really make it a stellar experience. In the off chance that you haven't ever eaten KFC but want a fried chicken meal and aren't opposed to making a drive, I recommend Popeye on account of their side selection and Cajun chicken option. read more

Cashiers are great. Woman prepping food behind heater is rude and shouldn't be in customer service. They ran out of "original recipe" at 5:30p. We asked how long it would be if we waited. Woman prepping food responded with "a while. It's crispy or NOTHING." We left. This location has forgotten items from our order multiple times, but once when given too many potato wedges the manager scolded the employee in front of me while removing the extra wedges. They will lose more money by losing customers than just a few potato wedges. read more

I waited and waited for the drive-thru to take my order, and then when I got to the pay window they had my order wrong, having ordered an 8-piece meal instead of a 16. Went to the Drive-thru and it was pouring down raining. I asked at the speaker if I could come to the window the lady said okay. I pull up but can't get close to the window there was a car in the way. So I'm trying to order my food with the this lady. That didn't say Hi or nothing. Then she tells me you need to move closer to the window so I can give you your food. I couldn't move because the car was in the way. Is the lady blind..... So I'm placing my order and she just walks away and starts getting my order ready when I was not even finished ordering everything. So when she comes back I tell her I want to order something else. She again says nothing just walks away. Then she reminds me when she comes back that you do know that you already have that food with your bucket. I was like yes I do. She was not nice or friendly at all. I feel bad for that business. Well I actually went for my boyfriend he likes KFC. It would not be my choice. I spent a lot of money there. Not worth it at all!!! I went through the drive thru about an hour ago... took about 2 minutes for them to finally say hello after I said it at least 5 times.. the lady at the window was very rude (as always) AND SHES THE MANAGER!!!! I saw one of the workers packing food without gloves. They forgot my side of mashed potatoes... This location is literally the worst KFC ever. You can hardly understand them when you're ordering, they don't acknowledge you until you say "Hello?" and they screw up your order 98% of the time. Their drive thru intercom is very outdated and so you have to rely on them understanding your order, which if you have repeated your order 5 times, they'll probably still get it wrong as that has happened to me everytime I go to this location. Then the food prices have increased way too much for a location that has bad service and very greasy food. Would give them a zero but thats not an option. read more

I don't frequently indulge in KFC because they are so expensive! However, I love KFC. The food is great &, at this particular location, so is the staff. The few times I've been here they've been nothing short of lovely, helpful & kind. One of the times I went it was pouring rain, like storm weather..so she asked me to pull up to the window where I could order without my car (or hair) getting wet. Came in to catch a quick lunch. Food came fast and fresh. Very yummy. The manager (I believe) was super friendly. He came out and checked if we liked the food and then offered some hot sauce to my brother since he didn't realize a spicy famous bowl was an option. He loved it. It was like being at a sit down restaurant with the quality and friendly service. Wish the kfc in town by our house was like this. The people and staff were very friendly and wwre very kind to let me use my coupons that I had..I thank you guys for letting me do that! This a a great location to go to and I am pleased to that they have the go cups and I will totally try those the next time I really want a quick bite. I am glad that the staff at this location were very nice and I really appreciate the suggestion of getting the six dollar meal, which was a great deal. I hope that the 6.00 meals like this stick around for a long time more so that way I'll recommend it if you looking for something that is not too costly and inexpensive, then this place is for you. I hope to return to this location the next time I am in this location and will check out the popcorn chicken nuggets! This is the worst KFC I've experienced, and in my lifetime, I've been to quite a few. The problem must be poor management or a cheapskate franchise owner. While the employees seem to be pretty friendly, everything else about this place stinks. The chicken pieces are tiny, their menu is extremely limited compared to other KFC restaurants, and their food is not served fresh--you could drive nails with their biscuits! This place is horrible. We went in the afternoon through the drive-thru and we thought it was closed because no one was there. We ordered the $6 fill up boxes, it's supposed to come with 3 chicken tenders, a side of mashed potatoes, a biscuit, cookie and a drink as advertised on their menu. Well when we got home and opened our boxes they gave us regular chicken(a thigh, and leg) the biscuit was hard as a rock and the drinks tasted water down. I normally don't eat at kfc because that is the worst fast food fried chicken there is, but I decided to use a coupon which was advertised in the local news paper. I went to the Kailua kfc and was denied use. The manager stated that they did not honor the 8 piece w/2 large sides and biscuits. Why advertise it if your not going to honor it? At 6 pm on Sunday, July 7th, I ordered a 5-piece Nashville Hot Chicken Tenders meal. The tenders were dry and tough. Against better judgement I finished the meal. Around Midnight I experienced abdominal cramps and by 1 AM I am vomiting. I hope I am an isolated case today. read more

I ordered the family meal with all grilled chicken. They were all out of the grilled chicken and were in the middle of providing more for a short wait. The chicken came out in short time and was still hot when I arrived home. This location makes the best grilled chicken and I will return. A drive through worker kept giving attitude and got my order wrong for the SECOND time.

They don't even deserve the one star. On a recent visit there (not of my choice) I ordered a bucket and even asked to make sure it came with biscuits, mashed potatoes, and cole slaw to which I got a "yes" from the girl taking my order. Once I got up to the window they kept me waiting for 10 minutes and then had me pull on the side. Since there is really no designated area for this the girl at the window told me to park in the exit lane to the right of the drive thru, knowing this was a bad idea I did what I was told because I didn't expect to be waiting very long. Weeellll, after another 10 minutes or so someone came out to my car to let me know that their mashed potato machine was broken to which I responded that I would like corn instead, although the person I was buying dinner for would have liked mashed potatoes. Again, thinking that because there was absolutely nobody in the drive thru or in the restaurant for the last ten minutes this would be a quick fix I waited. Well, wrong again! After waiting another 5 minutes someone pulled up behind me in the exit lane. Knowing that this would happen because of the girl's horrible advice I had to drive around the building again. After waiting for another couple of minutes I decided to go inside (defeating the purpose of the drive thru). At this point I was not the least bit amused but when I got in there only to see about five workers just standing around my level of frustration hit a new high. The girl who had originally told me to park in the exit lane half-assed an apology to which I did not respond. Half way out the door I realized they didn't give me my drink. Mashed potato boy grabbed it and I could see the hesitation on his face so the girl gave it to me. On my way out the door I was treated to a very forced "have a good evening" which I responded to with sarcasm. (Tip: Sometimes it's better to say nothing, read the room first guys). After this horrible experience I brought the food home which did not look appetizing at all only to find there were no wings, the one thing the person I bought it for really wanted. Disgusting! I ordered one simple thing, a bowl. The one with mashed potatoes and chicken and corn. Took one bite and spit it out. The chicken was squishy like it had been sitting in the gravy and potatoes all day. It took them forever!
