This KFC has definitely seen better days. The place is almost always empty, and it's not in a very good location, business-wise. The food is standard KFC fare. The KFC restaurant smelled of burnt grease, and the chicken didn't appear like it once did in the past. I was nauseated by the smell and thought perhaps a bad batch with a lingering aroma, so going against my gut feeling, I ordered a bucket, and it didn't look good. I asked if the breast was in the bucket and was told I couldn't see it and probably at the bottom. The chicken is so small you could literally see each piece with varied colorations from dark brown and dry to near burnt and greasy. I took it home, and since the breast was not present as expected, I took it back and received a refund leaving the bucket on the counter. It's disgusting and unhealthy before. This is the last time I'll try to purchase KFC. I buy it maybe once a year when not wanting to cook, and each time it's gotten consistently worst at every location. The employees are very nice. They take the extra steps to make your experience pleasant. Also, the food is simply amazing. The gravy for the mashed potatoes is on point, the wedges are tasty, and the hot wings are always seasoned well, crispy, hot, fresh, and not too greasy. There's no better place to get my fried chicken fix! I took away one star because quite a few times I had to wait 10 or more minutes because they didn't have a full 20 hot wings available. This even happened a few times when I was coming through the drive through. This seems to occur more often after 8pm, but I have had it happen during the day as well. Quite disappointing. They should change the name from drive thru to parkway since I am still waiting in the drive thru. I should have brought my sleeping bag. This is my second review on this KFC restaurant, and the second time I've had to call corporate. Please do not go here. You are warned. After the last review I left (please see review about girl speaking into her employee mic about customers), I returned back thinking things would be different, since every experience should be different right? Unfortunately, the manager (Patrick Evans) whom I received a phone call from profusely apologizing about my last experience, was the employee on register this time. He spoke to me in the most disrespectful way saying that I was causing a confusion and that I didn't get to choose sides with my meal. I felt so hurt that I left the drive-thru without picking up food. Yet, I decided to pull into the parking lot and speak directly to him about the incident. I tried to remind him of my last encounter and to tell him that I felt hurt by these experiences and he just looked at me and laughed. He said, "Look I was on register, so I would know if I was being disrespcetful. Seems like you just have a problem with this store, not me." He kept gaslighting me and saying that I was wrong while laughing at me. I was hurt and got no resolution out of this situation. I'm not confrontational and I've never spoken to a manager in that way but his laughing followed me home where I sit now so hurt. I just want to know why this attitude persists. I have never cried over service and this is the second time. A refresher about the first: My boyfriend and I came in late at night and the girl called us ugly over her microphone. She kept mumbling that she wished we'd leave when she told us that they were out of chicken. When we settled on something else she didn't like it. When my boyfriend said thank you for the food, she said "did he just thank us." When I called corporate, I was told a manager of the location would call me. THAT would be Patrick. Patrick apologized when we spoke and said he did not know what she would act this way. He said that she had multiple strikes against her. I'm starting to think that the management is the problem. Probably one of the worst KFCs I have ever been to. They have like only 3-4 workers, and while in the drive through, I saw one employee working while talking on his cell phone. I love this KFC!! It is the only one in town but I am never disappointed when I go. The staff is a group of wonderful workers. They are pretty considerate when they mess up or take long. I never worry because I know the delicious food makes up for it! The cooks do a wonderful job of making sure it is moist and flavorful each time. This is the worst KFC I have ever visited. In the evenings, they run out of nearly everything - sometimes chicken! They always get my order wrong, and the quality of the food is terrible. This was a very sad and despicable situation on Monday evening at about 7 pm on April 24. Drove and went in with intent of ordering a Monday Night special of a $3.99 special. Inside nearly 15 people waiting for orders to be taken. All KFC personnel scrambling to wait on outside drive up customers. After 15 minutes of us indoor customers wAiting, someone said to the effect of " be with you in a moment " Finally took my order, waited another 20 minutes for order to be filled. Felt sorry for the order taker overall. Whoever was managing should be replaced. Whoever runs this Davis Franchise should be removed. For sure, their standards don't match the management style of In and Out for example. In all fairness, we have been there several times over the years, and it has always been ok. This has to be the worst fast food restaurant in Davis! The place was filthy. The cashier wasn't familiar with the menu. Had to explain what I wouldn't and point to the picture. The male employees in the back food prep area kept taking turns leaving their jobs to check out the female customers in line. My twelve piece chicken tenders had five pieces in it. I was so disgusted- I went through the drivethru tonight, ordered my meal and proceeded to the window. There seemed to be only 2 employees, one for food line and one for front registers. I was watching all of this through the drivethru window. The one on crew had a bucket of chicken, which she knocked over when turning around. I had sinus surgery 2 days ago. Had to pick up Rx from Kaiser. Stopped at KFC for their delicious grilled chicken. No response at drive-in speaker. The sign says open at 10:30am, it's now 10:31. I'll wait a couple of minutes. No change. Drive to the window, they see me but don't come to tell me anything. I drove to the front and waited until 10:40. Tried the drive-in again. I'm really not feeling up to walking in and standing. Still no response. Three stars for a good experience. I had a meeting at the UC Davis Extension office and an hour for lunch. Coworkers and I went to KFC because it's a stones-throw away. Place was clean enough, staff were nice enough, etc. You're here because you need something, anything, and don't want to get in the car and drive. Would I go back? This store has pretty slow service. They are definitely understaffed. A few years ago they had quality employees but now it seems like the employees there are not well trained. The food is not very good either, it seems like a lot of chicken has been sitting and then kept warm or heated. I love fried chicken and I live nearby, so I visit once in a while. But the customer service ALWAYS sucks here. In fact, I just came from KFC and left in shock by the horrible attitude the woman who works there displayed. That woman who is always there never fails to be a complete a-hole. I went through the drive thru with my niece Thursday night only to get back home and discover that half my nieces order was not in the bag. So I called the number on the receipt only to get no answer. Yes. Nobody ever picked up the phone. So. I called again. It just rings and rings forever. ( the number is on the receipt). So I emailed the KFC corporate headquarters later Thursday night. As of Saturday morning no response. Very frustrating. It will be snowing in Davis before I will go back to KFC. read more

The only reason I'm posting a review is the hope that the franchise owner will see this. I found no other way to reach the franchisee. I work nearby to this KFC and drop in often when I just need something quick to take back to my office. What I've always liked about this KFC is the service staff. For the last three years, they have been courteous, quick and efficient. About 9 months ago that changed and is slowly declining. There is one manager I often see during the day who saunters around and doesn't seem particularly interested in providing efficient customer service or satisfaction. They seem to be frequently out of whatever I ask for. They don't even have sweetener (or sugar!) for iced tea - huh??? Today was the kicker, though. For the 2nd time since November, I have gotten a chicken pot pie with bones in it. This time I was quite nicely stabbed in the upper palate with a pointed, 2-inch bone! Gross. I always assumed these were prepared at some off-site factory and shipped to franchises. But today's pie also had some lovely bits of gristle, veins and BREADING in it...do they make these at the store from leftover fried chicken??? Anyway, I think it's time to take a break, and just in time for diet-season :) so one less thing to tempt me. Been going here for years only because it's the only place for fried chicken in Davis. Never once have they gotten my order right. Typically they make you park in front and you wait anywhere from 10 to 45 minutes. However, this time I placed a mobile order. I showed up 30 minutes after I had placed the order. I parked in front and wait... and waited.... and waited. An hour and a half went by before I finally got my order. Just for context, there were only two items in the order... not super complex. The order finally came out and surprise, surprise, they got it wrong. I have had them mess up my orders before and each time I asked for the correct items, I would have to wait another 30 minutes. I decided I wasted too much of my day at this dreadful place, so I just left with a half wrong order. Best piece of advice I can give you if you decide to come to the worst KFC in the country, is that their customer support line is very helpful and willing to give a refund. read more
