I was past my reservation date(which was through a third party) getting to the office to actually rent a unit but the unit i needed was still available. Now, aspects that cost them a 5 rating. Mandatory insurance: 1 of two things, either they expect potential losses of property therefore ins would be a substantial concept or if company feels safe within their own environment, why are we paying for things they are not supposed to let happen?? Isnt that the basic idea of storage, a safe place to store items! That also leads to my next point..Locks! Only a disc lock is acceptable and any other has a risk of being removed?! Ill be honest here, i don't know how much of this is common storage facility policies and how much is more lot or company related. But heres the clincher, property maintenance! Area was clean but not properly maintained. Any area not paved or directly connected to the office was heavy with (i think they are refered to as bullhead) stickers, the ones that get stuck in paws and fur of 4legged friends or in shoelaces, socks, toes, pantlegs, i think you get the idea. They cover the field from fence TO the street, and include by front parking lot on property side and on street side of drainage ditch/creek running parallel with Peoria. Any body on foot to/from would have to walk in aprox 16" shoulder along side traffic on south peoria, or get feet fulls of stickers or cross Peoria in a non designated area. As a sidenote not all offers apply to all or any unit rented. Makes sense to me but further proof of-if you see it online it must be...??? I rent a small storage unit in this location. It's super convenient since it's close to my…read moreneighborhood. They have different sized units and have an electronic gate. They give you a code specific to you for entering and exiting. There have been two incidents in the last couple of years that prevent me from giving them a higher rating. My unit got broken into and various items were taken. I didn't find out about this until I showed up to find it with a different lock. I was shocked they hadn't reached out to me about it and the lack of information was astounding given that they're supposed to have cameras. They said I had to file a police report if I wanted to get any more details. This was very disappointing so now I keep a better inventory of what I have and don't keep anything valuable. The second incident was the gate not working. The keypad displayed a message saying the network was down. I called the support number since no staff was on site despite it being working hours. They didn't know what the issue was, only that the system was down and that no employees were able to be on site to assist until the following day. I proceeded to panic because I had an event in a couple of hours and I needed to get a lot of items out for it. I told them that was unacceptable and that I would have to try to get in somehow. Thankfully an employee arrived about 30 minutes after and helped me in. It was so stressful. I now try to go at least a day before to make sure this doesn't happen again. The only reason why I don't move my unit is because it's so close to me. When it comes to pricing, it's pretty comparable to other places.

If you are like me and don't answer unknown calls, returning the manager's call may be a problem, as all calls go to a call center, and of course they have no idea who called me or why. I would really like to know what they are going to do to prevent future break ins, but that information hasn't been forthcoming. Rent here at your own risk.

We paid for 1 month of storage, but the best value was having someone take care of everything for us. When arranging everything on the phone, they were extremely patient with all of our questions and gave us confidence that they would handle everything well. They even mailed us a personal thank you note after everything was completed. We won't hesitate to use Riverbend Self Storage again, and we highly recommend them.

After calling the Corporate office, I received a call from the manager of Keyport Self Storage in Sherman, TX. The only Texas location for Keyport Self Storage. I was yelled at by the On-Site Manager for, and I quote "calling the corporate office and the management company (Argus) for going behind his back and discussing the issue with them". At which point I was now getting angry and during a heated conversation, I was told; "If I were you I would move out". Toward the end of the conversation the manager told me he could move me to another unit, and even offered to help move all of my belongings to the other unit. No mention of the cost of the new unit, no offer to reduce the price, after paying for over a year at full price on a unit with a broken door. As if I would ever, after all this, let this man help me move or touch my personal items. The conversation ended on a bad note, and still no reply by the Corporate office or by the Management company. I guess no one, (except for the woman named, Cricket.. I'm sorry if I misspelled your name, whom I spoke to on the phone) at the Corporate office or the Management company cares about their customers enough to even respond. Original text below: I secured a 10x10 storage unit at Keyport Self Storage in July 2023, with a standard metal roll up door, however, the door did not work due to the spring mechanism was broken. The door had to be pushed up by hand and propped open, as the entire weight of the door would cause the door to close immediately. I was told that there were no other same size units available, but the site manager told me the company would call a repairman to fix the issue. I have asked on numerous occasions about the repair, only to get the same answer, "the company is aware and is working on it". The company has since installed a new site manager, who initially said the company would fix the issue. After 6 months, his answer changed to " this is an old location and the company does not get things done very fast, but they are working on it" The last response 8/2024, 13 months later was " I have already explained the company's position and I am not going to go over it again' He then stood up from his seated position at his desk and leaned forward toward the counter and toward me in a confrontational demeanor and said in a much lower tone of voice "I am not going to talk to you about this anymore, I have explained this to you several times and you still want answers, the answer is the company will fix the door when they are ready to fix the door, end of story". "You won't get any help if you argue with me over this". I was astonished at his action and his response to my simple question; when will my units door be repaired? It is now 9/2024, 14 months and $864.00 later and still no repairs have been completed, while I have been paying the full rental amount for over a year. This month, September 2024 I have received a notice of an $18 Dollar increase in the monthly rental amount. Much more than just a nuisance increase. No upgrades to the facility have been performed anywhere. This is very unprofessional for a company to charge a premium price for a product that does not work properly.
