As I was waiting for someone to help me I watched as an elderly lady struggled to try and get a bundle of boxes out to her car. The staff, some not doing anything, just stood there and watched. I was about to go help her myself when a young Hispanic man, also a customer, jumped in and helped her. After finally getting my storage unit and dealing with the, very rude staff, I drove back to the units only to discover that the overhead doors are all malfunctioning and the "security card" they issued to provide access to the storage units is WORTHLESS because the sliding door doesn't work. I, along with two other people, only learned this after trying to use our cards to get inside. After calling the front desk, with no success, we accidentally discovered that the "security card key" was unnecessary. Why you ask. Because the door that permits access to the storage units DOESN'T LOCK! Instead of using the card key you simply slide the door open and closed by hand. Now keep in mind that the overhead doors to get inside the garage from outside aren't working, Also the walk through door that goes from the outside to the storage area is ALSO malfunctioning and just opens whenever someone walks by so tell me, where is the security in this supposedly secure storage facility? It is NONEXISISTENT! Once I don't know what happened to this facility, but it went form having a very kind helpful staff with a truly secure storage area to a pitiful excuse for a business staffed by people who couldn't care less about the people they are there to help. Thankfully I only need the unit for a small amount of stuff and only for a short time otherwise I'd find somewhere else to take my business which is what I advise anyone reading this to do.

I did not go look at it and I did not do much research. We rented from another company, we rented a climate control unit it was in a gated area but the building it was in was never locked. Our unit was broken into in a few months. We asked them to secure the building as they have other locations and the building is secure. The fence around the unit could be climbed. We tried to work with them but had no luck. All that said yesterday we went to Extra Space Storage to look at a unit, find out their security of the units and how secure the units were. As I learned my lesson to not just go online and rent a unit. The experience was amazing the Manager Joseph was a great help. ALL units are indoor and ina. Locked in area no one without access should ever be in there. I felt peoples stuff was very secure, not to say that things won't happen there is always that chance but ai don't feel that it is easy at all for it to happen. We saw the security cameras that are all around inside and we're working an a huge display screen. (Not like our other location that after it was broken into said their cameras have not been working for a while.) These units are all inside the old JC Penny's area or Promenade Mall at 41st and Yale. You drive in the gate inside the building and can get close to your unit or have a drive up unit that you can pull up too. Ours is not a drive up but very close to where you can park. They have carts inside to load and unload your vehicle or storage unit. The lock system they use is a cylinder lock and harder for it to be broken into so that was another security measure I loved.
