This is my favorite place to stay in Key West, and I like to go every year. Key West is certainly a town that is like no other, and I never tire of it, and that goes for KWB&B too. Liz is so friendly and accommodating, and always has updated recommendations for restaurant options and Happy hour deals. The place is very artsy, full of artwork everywhere and each room is uniquely decorated. The breakfast always includes the freshest fruit display, oranges with a press to squeeze fresh, bagels and cream cheese and preserves, a a different quick bread daily. The refrigerator can be used by guests, so I usually bring a protein like ham, cheese, or lox for my bagel since I don't do well with all carbs for breakfast. There are bicycles to rent on premise too at a lower cost than you can get anywhere. All the rooms have names, and some of private baths and shared. The front porch has rockers and the upstairs balcony has a hammock. Love this place, and it is the most reasonably priced b&b in town by far.

Breakfast! Which is only available after 8:30 am.

I really struggled to decide on a star-rating for this one but ultimately "A-Ok" really summed up our experience. There was a lot of good stuff this B&B had to offer. First and foremost was price which came out to about $145 a night. They were easily one of the least expensive options we found in the area and the location was stellar, we could literally walk everywhere. We booked the last room they had available which was the Pink Room w/ shared bathroom (this was for early Feb). Our bed was super comfy and there were always clean towels and linens. Although the bathrooms were shared we never once had to wait to use one so it was a non-issue. The overall look and vibe of the place was totally charming and the staff truly was fantastic. Now for the drawbacks. *I'm an early riser (around 6 a.m.) but breakfast isn't served here until 8:30. So although breakfast is "included" I still ended up going out and buying coffee and grub elsewhere since 8:30 was too late to wait and most mornings we had stuff planned. I noticed one morning that they actually keep the kitchen door locked until 8:30 so although it is a shared kitchen, you don't really feel very easy-breezy about using it. * One morning my husband was told by one of the ladies who worked there that some other guests had complained about a "raucous noise" the night before and then asked him what time we got in (we were in by 9:30 BTW). Now, she didn't directly blame us at all, but since we were easily the youngest ones there by 20 years we sort of felt chastised. We spent the rest of our trip tip-toeing around in the evening and talking in whispers so as not to inadvertently disturb anyone. This wasn't very "relaxing" and actually just stressed us out through the rest of our stay. *TV's-- Now initially I really loved that the entire place is TV free. However, we were in town during the 2014 Winter Olympics and we REALLY wanted to see the opening ceremonies. Originally we figured we'd just go to a bar to watch them but after spending all day on a fishing boat and sightseeing (in addition to being 5 months pregnant) I really just wanted to mellow out in pj's. So not having the option to watch TV (even in a communal space) was kind of a bummer (NBC wasn't streaming it online either--- We looked). *ART-- Now this last part is me just being nit picky but a lot of the hanging wall art really isn't that good. Don't get me wrong, the decorating and furniture and overall vibe of the place is fabulous and funky but all of the paintings that I saw had a beginners vibe to them and we were actually distracted by how mediocre they were. Some of it was just down right tacky. But artistic taste is all relative so take this last bit with a grain of salt. So like I said, overall our visit was pretty good. Chances are if you like B&B's, you'll love this place. But if we're ever back in the area again we'll most splurge a little more for a room with thick walls a mini-fridge.

From the second we parked in front, I never wanted to leave. This place is absolutely perfect and I cannot wait to come back. There are seriously countless similar B&B's on Key West and I'm sure they are all equally pleasant, but I was so happy with this place that I see no need to stay anywhere else next time (and there will be a next time). We were checked in and given a tour and then settled into our upstairs room (we had two bathrooms which we shared with one other room and it wasn't a problem at all throughout our short stay). The inside décor of this place makes you feel like you are in a different country in a different era, and everything was so cozy and magical especially the backyard area and the several patio/porch areas scattered throughout the small property. It was pouring rain when we got in so we just enjoyed ourselves and relaxed and then were given some tips from our check-in lady (sweet as pie) as far as where to go/what to see during our stay and then we were off. They give you a key to your room and to the front door of the house so everything was very safe. The next morning it was raining again so we took our coffee and breakfast (serve yourself style in the kitchen) on our upstairs patio with some of our "roommates" enjoying the rain and the porch swing and the very Key West quiet vibe of the day. We paid $120 + tax (ish)/night for a room with two double beds and it was worth every penny and more. Highly, highly recommended. As far as location goes, it isn't right in the mix of Duvall Street but it is a very short walk to the harbor (great place for happy hour), and still a little bit further to Duvall and everything else. It was quiet while still being close enough to everything else on Key West. Perfection.

Spent three nights here and can't wait to go back. This is the quintessential b&b - from the charming front porch to the gorgeous breakfast spread to the very warm and welcoming staff. The house itself has so much character (we loved the hammock on the second floor). It's old Key West in the house itself but it's so very clean. It's also the perfect location - in close proximity to Duval (2-3 blocks) and the marina (2-3 blocks). Thanks so much to Liz, who truly went above and beyond in making us feel welcome in the house. We took her up on many of her recommendations and loved every place she suggested. We had the most wonderful time in Key West and much of it had to do with our stay at the Popular House. We would recommend this b&b to anyone who wants to experience Key West the way it's meant to be experienced.

Love this place. Kara went above and beyond for our stay for our 30th wedding anniversary. We loved this house, loved our room. Having the hostess there and being local you can get the best info and things to do. We rented bikes for a day and had a blast riding around. We were on the 3rd floor and had the floor to ourselves! We plan i. Being back!

I love my solo stay at the Key West bed-and-breakfast in February. Liz was so warm and accommodating and she gives you a tour of the house so you know exactly where everything is at, and how everything runs, that way you can make yourself at home. It was lovely to get up in the morning and daydream out the window and watch the palm trees sway. They Have a nice variety of a continental breakfast in the morning. You can come and go as you please you get a key to your room and also a key to the main door. Parking is a little tight in the neighborhood but I got lucky and parked only a block away the first few nights in the last night I was thrilled to find a parking space right in front of the B&B. I Was concerned about sharing a bathroom upstairs but honestly it was cleaner then probably my bathroom at home, I never had to wait and there's actually two available with full showers also.I would definitely stay here again! And i little LuLu the "guard dog"

Whatever temperature you're looking for it to be, it is. This one is perfect, and azure blue. La! I found the bed extremely comfortable and the room very well kept and clean, although I can see where many travelers would find it cramped. We wound up in room 13, which I think probably offers the quietest location within the complex as well as a slightly more sizable room than some of the others. My husband found the noise from the neighboring pub distracting when trying to fall asleep, but I thought the room was incredibly well soundproofed considering the amount of hustle and bustle in this busy tourist area. You will also hear airplanes taking off and landing here, but you also hear them everywhere elseon the island, and with the window air conditioning unit on high fan at all times I found the city noise was almost entirely drowned out. The ceiling fan, however, was unbalanced and when we had the repair person come look at it he said it's fine, which is certainly wasn't. My only disappointment in our visit was that the breakfast that were included were pretty meh. I've been spoiled on staying at b&B's where the breakfast was a huge part of the experience, and here I felt like every single breakfast we had I could have made much better at home. Especially in Key West where there are three creperies within a 3 minute walk of each other, the breakfast game is strong, so when you aren't bringing your a game it really shows. The manager of the facility and most of the staff were incredibly friendly and seemed to truly enjoy and take pride in their work, which made our experience extra enjoyable. We also enjoyed chatting with fellow guests in the charming breakfast nook and comfy poolside seats. We stayed here for four nights and stayed at the far more expensive Southernmost Beach Resort for one night during our recent visit, then spent a week with friends who live in the area. The room was much larger at Southernmost, but much more problematic and less painstakingly cleaned, and radically less soundproofed than our room here. On a future visit we would stay two extra nights here for the same price.
