Stopped into Molly's Coffee Co this morning for some caffeinated goodies. This joint comes highly…read morerecommend by my father in law. There might be a little bias options here since this joint is owned by his really good friend's granddaughter. But the fact it's local, I'm going to support it. Walking up, the espresso machine and register was set up outside. There's some remodeling going on so I didn't get the opportunity to see what the venue looks like inside. But outside is quite cute. I love the flowers surrounding the outside patio. A handful of sweet baristas were working. They all greeted us! I checked out the summer menu to see what kind of cool drinks they had. I got a vanilla oat milk matcha latte. My husband got a summer drink of the menu. It was a sparkling strawberry lemonade. My husband's lemonade was so good! I appreciate that real strawberry puree was used. It was sweet, tangy and bubbly! It was quite refreshing for a sweet drink. My matcha was balanced! There was a good amount of matcha to oat milk. I didn't quite taste the vanilla as much as I would have liked to. I did add some sugar to it when we stopped at the Waffle House. It tasted much better once the sugar was added. I'm already going to plan on coming back when we visit Athens again next year. I look forward to seeing the new remodel. And I look forward to potentially meeting the famous Molly that my father in law speaks ok. I enjoyed my matcha and it's great that I got to support a local joint while I was here.

I suppose all Starbucks locations have "regulars." I happen to be one here. I've even been…read moreintroduced as such by one employee training another. The interesting thing about coming here at all hours of the day is that I get to see all of the other regulars. In fact, somedays I like to play "Regulars Bingo" to see if I can spot them all. There's Asian studies guy. I'm pretty sure he's a UGA professor who meets all of his students here instead of going to campus. Took me a while to figure that out, though. When I first started coming here, he had a different nickname to match what appeared to be creepy behavior. I feel bad, though. He's legit. There's also cocktail dress lady who shows up two or three times a day. At first I thought she was ordering drinks for an office, but I think it's always just for her. At least one of them is always a large water. I'll bet her gold member account expiration date says "Armageddon." Next we have Art Deco. He's actually a really talented artist, and that's not his style, but he's here all the time, drawing with markers or just surfing the web. I'm not convinced he always buys a drink, but his drawings of college mascots always seem to please the customers in the lobby. We also can't forget about poindexter. He's a pudgy, nerdy guy who always comes in and stays for hours at a time. This guy is a mid-30s grad student who clearly is mooching off of the taxpayer dollar somehow. He also only orders an iced coffee and then gets his free refills using his membership card. I guess he's not ripping the store off, though, since he pays $2.50 for the first one and even after drinking 3 refills has only consumed about ten cents worth of product. Still, he's always chomping on ice. Everyone could do without that. The best regulars at this Starbucks, though, are the baristas. They are constantly smiling and polite, even when they are slammed. They always do what they can to make your order right and they learn your name. It's a small touch that goes a long way. Best of all, they always treat me well, no matter how many iced coffee refills I order.
