Dr. Tsuda is very attentive to the needs of his patients. He is patient and takes the time to explain what he is doing to his patients.

I've been coming to this office since Dr. Kevin Tsuda was a wee lad & his father, Dr. Albert Tsuda, was in charge. He was amazing & Dr. Kevin has carried on the tradition of amazing-ness! He is so thorough. And he really takes the time to make sure you get the most of your insurance. I use both contacts & eye glasses (depending on my mood). I needed both but, of course, insurance would not cover both (mood-killers!). He called them to figure out if it would be a better deal for me to use my insurance to get contacts or glasses. Also, he really wants to make sure that you are comfortable with your choices. He gave me a week's worth of samples of the new contact I was thinking of getting. Just so I could make sure they were comfortable. And I have crooked ears or a crooked face or something so he really has to readjust the heck out of my glasses to get it to sit right on my face. And he tells me to come back in if I need it readjusted. Also, my son had horrible insurance coverage from a mainland company when I took him in for an annual check-up. Well, without going in to too much detail, insurance wasn't going to cover the visit. But Dr. Tsuda worked some magic & they did! Amazing! Even though he has a small office, he has a wonderful selection of cute & stylish eye glass frames. And his mom is his receptionist which I love. She is absolutely delightful! I've had horrible experiences with the reception staff at other doctors' offices so he is so lucky to have her! The only bad thing about this office is the eye-puffer thing. You know what I'm talking about! I know this is not exclusive to Dr. Tsuda's office. And I know it's a necessary evil. But man, I hate that thing! Other than that, Dr. Tsuda really is the best! Dr Tsuda gives old fashioned customer service in a modern practice. He's absolutely the type of Dr you're almost afraid to review, but only for fear he might become too busy! He takes his time with you, is painstakingly thorough with details to ensure you're: a) aware of all of your options, b) educated about which option might work best for your lifestyle and c) not caught​ unawares by insurance coverage or cost. This is one of those reviews you want to write, but secretly don't want to for fear of him being too busy and letting the secret out! He is amazing. Down to earth, honest, super nice guy with a convenient location on King St. He will tell it to you like it is, never try to up-sell you on anything and give his honest opinion about treatment options. He really just cares about you and your vision. His examination room is spacious and you never feel rushed there. The times I have seen him, he has been on time and never had to wait. I've seen him for more than half of my life. Seriously, would not trust my vision with anyone else other than him. read more

Dr. Tsuda is really friendly and thorough! I usually dread the eye doctor, but this was a good experience. Even the scary glaucoma test went well for me, and was not even scary. He has a portable device he can bring up to your eye. So much easier for me. He was so good about explaining everything, and it was all very interesting!! I felt very comfortable and confident in the care and attention I was receiving. He also was very good about explaining my vision benefits to me as far as what they would cover in expenses. Dr. also helped me pick out a really nice pair of frames that I hadn't thought to try on. He marked a center-spot on the lenses while I wore them, before sending them off to the lab. He explained that this would show the lab where the centers of my eyes would actually be on the lenses. I've never had anyone do this for me, but it makes perfect sense. I've had eye doctors who did not fit the glasses to my head after I purchased frames from them, so I was surprised and happy Dr. Tsuda does this! I didn't even know eye doctors did that for you! He adjusted the frames so they stayed on better. These are the most comfortable pair of glasses I've ever had. I did splurge and get the higher quality coating w/ anti-glare, and tougher lenses... and feel it was worth it. I love my new glasses. Best part is, I'm no longer adverse to "seeing" the eye doctor. :D read more

Dr. Tsuda is so helpful. I was vacationing in Hawaii and forgot my contacts at home. I'm as blind as a bat but with confirmation of my prescription, he kindly gave me a few sample pairs to last me til the end of my prescription when other local optometrists declined to help (I offered to buy them and they said no). Had extremely swollen and red eyes. My co-workers said I had pink eye and kicked me from work. Haven't seen an eye doctor since I moved to Oahu so didn't know who to see. Looked up reviews on Yelp and saw that Dr Tsuda has great reviews and an easy location to get to on King Street. Was able to make an appointment that same day to see him. He was extremely nice and very gentle. Gave me a variety of eye tests and then explained what each one does in layman's terms and the results. Dr. Tsuda is very enthusiastic about his profession and taking care of your eyes and I learned a lot about my eyes and how to care for them. He prescribed me some eye drops for my eyes and the swelling, redness and itchy has been greatly reduced. Highly recommended if you need to see an eye doctor. Your only regret in seeing him maybe to ask your yourself why it took so long to get here. read more

I lost my glasses boogie boarding so was stumbling around in the fuzzy world looking for a place to get them replaced. Dr. Tsuda's office is close to where I live so I stopped in there first. He is a very well informed, honest and nice person who was more than happy to tell me the ins and outs of the glasses business. He even recommended that I go to a different business such as In Specs so that I wouldn't have to be without glasses for the longer turnaround that his shop would have to undergo. I needed glasses very quickly so took his advice and went to In Specs where I received terrible customer service. My review may not be terribly helpful as I did not go through the process or receive a product from this business. But I plan on going back to his office the next time I need an exam, glasses or contacts. Very nice and helpful individual. read more

As a contact lens user, and not a particularly careful one, I've had many many eye infections, and gone through many many different eye doctors in my time. I get tired of the repeat visits, the "check ups" just because, and the lectures on how I should take better care of my eyes. Before visiting Dr. Tsuda, I'd see the optometrist at Costco whenever I was in need for new contact lenses... Easy in and easy out. Very convenient, that is, until you need to see an eye doctor for an emergency. I was suffering from a pretty bad eye infection... one that didn't clear up in just a few days like I thought it would. I was in a pretty bad bind to see an eye doctor, but no one I called had any available openings that week. Looking to ever trust worthy Yelp, I came across Dr. Tsuda. I called, and explained my situation, and he agreed to see me! His office is super unassuming, and looks just like a house! If I didn't look out for it I probably would have missed it so heads up! Located on King St, need to Tsunami's, there is street parking available, or there is a stall open between Tsunamis and the office. So I just have to come right out and say it. Dr. Tsuda is the BEST eye doctor I've ever seen. He's like the friendly optometrist uncle I never had :) He was super easy to talk to, understanding, and very very patient. I appreciated that he explained everything to me and made sure to answer my questions. Since that visit I've been seeing Dr. Tsuda for all my other eye stuff, including for my contact lenses/eye glasses! He really works with you to fit your needs, and definitely offers superior service over what I had gotten at Costco. I mentioned that I was unhappy with my current contact lenses, and he let me try three different pairs so that I could choose what worked best for me before I ordered them. When it came time to order, he worked with me to ensure that I could get the most bang for my buck, and helped me out with my rebate as well since it took me a while to select the right contacts for me. Dr. Tsuda is one of those rare, down to earth, family- oriented businesses that existed before commercialism spread throughout society...you can sit and talk honestly with him and he will give you an honest response/explanation...I found him while desperately searching for eye care about 5 years ago and have never regeretted it since...only thing is....parking is non-existent...but I can live with that.. read more

For all the eye doctors I've ever seen, he's probably the best! He's patient, considerate, he'll never push you to buy any expensive glasses that you don't need, although he does have it available! The lady who set up my appointment was his mother, cutest lady I've ever met, she was also very friendly and said that I looked cute when I'm trying on my glasses! One of the best on the island! He is very kind and respectful. Also very knowledgable when it comes to your eyes. Not like other optometrists that will tell you anything to get you to spend more money on things you don't need. Just based on my experience you have a really "user friendly" optometrist here. He can talk to you about such practical matters as how much your insurance will cover and the best number of contacts to order. Most doctors don't know how much something costs and just tells you to talk to the nurse. You can also actually talk to him by phone if you have a question as much of the time he answers the phone or is readily available - unlike the "big" places where you have to talk to the receptionist and leave a message. read more
