The cheese slice that came with the ramen slowly melted and mixed into the broth, producing a rich, creamy soup. The generous portions of katsu that were part of the dish were also perfectly fried and complemented the rest of the dish nicely. Our group that came in all ordered the Spicy Katsu Cheese Ramen, and it did take a while for the order to be ready. Our hostess did mention that detail early and politely informed us about it. It was a welcome surprise that she gave us some spring rolls on the house for our wait. This restaurant is a good recommendation for the cheese ramen and the exceptional service. My bowl was the last to arrive and it was wrong. They gave me sliced lamb even though we pointed at the lamb chop photo. They took it back and I sat there waiting while everyone else ate. When the correct ramen finally came the lamb chop was noticeably small and dry. When we brought up the size difference the staff just said that is how it is. No apology and no effort to explain. I also overheard the staff talking about the order and the manager did not sound happy. Whether she was upset at me or her team, the whole vibe was uncomfortable. I love a good pork bone soup and I opted for the Spicy Charsu because of the pork bone base. I loved the broth. It was perfection. The noodles were so fresh . The portion size was enormous. I kept eating and more noodles appeared. The Charsu had an amazing flavor to it . Smoky and delicious . My friend is a larger man and even he commented on the portion size saying he would be ok with a smaller size as he was so full. Good portions for your money. We also had the Gyoza and the TakoYaki. The broth was magma red, but it was not as spicy as I thought it would be. Don't get me wrong, it was spicy but not to the point where it would warrant a warning. The spicy broth tasted like a mix of Buldak sauce and Capsaicin, but didn't have much depth. I finished my ramen, broth and all and enjoyed most of the experience. The least favorite was the chasu and the egg as chasu did not taste fresh, and I could not taste the char on them at all. The egg was over-cooked and under marinated which was disappointing. It's still one of the few ramen options in Durham but can't say it's comparable to the other Kenzo locations.
