    Mixed leftover for $8

I bought food from Kent's Kitchen twice in the last 2 months, the latest experience was really disappointing. While the price is cheap, the quality of the ingredients is so terrible that it is not worth the money at all. I purchased a small container of Peking Pork Chop for $6.50 + tax in August. The taste of the food was not bad, but it was clear that the meat was a cheaper cut and was not very fresh. It is still acceptable for the price, I would have given it 3.5 stars for that experience. I went to Kent's again this weekend because I have a chronic stomach condition and I needed to eat hot food every day around 5 pm to reduce stomach ache. I have been out and it was past 5 pm already so I did not want to wait to have food, I went to Kent's Kitchen because I thought they have cooked food that is kept warm. But when I arrived around 5:30 p.m., most of the food have been sold out. They only had 3 "dishes" left. I picked the one that has the most food in it. At first I wanted only a small container, but the server offered everything for $8, the amount of food was a little less than a large container. She told me that it was a mix of several dishes, so there is a mix of vegetables and meat. I did not look carefully and took everything from the dish. I started eating the food in my car right away. As soon as I took the cover off, I regretted the decision. There was hardly any meat (a total of two pieces of fish and one small piece of beef), and the vegetables were not really edible. The gai lan was so tough that my stomach ache got worse after trying to chew for minutes and swallow. There were other vegetables that was overcooked and also so chewy that I could not even swallow. The food was not even warm, it had not been maintained at the necessary temperature for food safe. After a few bites, I ended up throwing everything out.

KK has been closed for 3-4 weeks in summer and it didn't open until June 7th. I used to get lunch to share for 4 people and my family always enjoyed their food. After reopening KK has downsized their selection so there were rice, meats, veggies, some noodles and NO seafood. I was SO disappointed that KK did not sell seafood as they did in the past. Things have changed a bit after reno in June. Food was very bland the first time I went. Then few months later, my dad said KK is better now and the food isn't so bland like last time. Portion was still gigantic as before. They have almost everything except the seafood. I REPEAT KK no longer sells any seafood (including prawns) on the menu. However they still have Pork Chop on Rice and Dongpo Rou (Braised Pork Belly) on the menu. I prefer giving 4 stars for the value and the taste, but 3 stars since there is NO seafood on the menu. Please bring back seafood I beg you!

Giant new but old school takeout place. Large Food combos for under $10 at the time of writing. Oh Hello. Parking is available in the nice large strip mall lot. There is also a small 2 storey lot next to the London Drugs. There used to be seating here, but those have been removed because of the pandemic. The place is basically one large glorified food court booth. The selection is amazing. They must've had some 35 different items. I felt like a kid in a candy store. Exciting. The pricing here is amazingly cheap. Cheaper than most food courts in fact. Beautiful. This place also sells BBQ stuff like pigs and ducks. Pricing looks similar to other places. Guess I'll give them a try next time. Not sure about the previous complaints about the staff not wearing masks, but all of them were wearing them when I visited. Gloves too. The only downside to the entire place is that they close rather early (1830 as of the time of writing). The 2 item combo I ordered was packed into a rectangular plastic container. They stuffed it so full that the lady had trouble closing it. I just watched and tried not to weep. For a few cents more, the rice or regular noodle can be replaced with beef rice noodle. I will definitely be back. Many times.

Noodles plus two toppings: orange pepper chicken, and salt and pepper pork chop

Noodles not greasy, chewy Pork chop a bit spicy but not too much Chicken with orange pepper

2 item on steam rice combo -- fish and veg and a pork item. Delicious. $8.60 FTW.

My coworker recommended this place to me previously. He extolled its virtue as being cheap with generous serving and is a quick lunch fix. He had also shared some food with us and it was tasty. I always hesitated to go there as the parking situation looked daunting. Always crowded. Well, now that we are still in a pandemic, the reduced traffic makes it a bit easier to deal with the parking. It is still busy but maybe not as bad as pre covid days. Safety protocols are taken seriously here. There is a staff by the entrance to monitor the number of people allowed inside. There was a line when I was there but it moved pretty fast. There were plenty of dishes to choose from and it could be overwhelming. You could get a basic 2 item combo for under $10 and the box would be filled to the brim. Roast meat is also available. This is definitely great for those looking for deals and to save on food cost. Just do not expect gourmet food. I got 2 meals out of my combo.

Been to the Kent's Kitchen on Keefer previously and as I was in the Victoria and 41st area, stopped by this Kent's Kitchen location. What I like is that this location is cleaner with more natural light than the Keefer location. I was surprised that they are still cash only given that we are in the middle of COVID. Ordered the spicy fried fish and sweet & sour pork on chow mein. At $8.50 ($1 more for the fish) plus tax, it fed two of us for lunch...we were both full. Service was quick and I enjoyed the food. It was a positive food experience and happy to recommend Kent's Kitchen.

My parents doctor is on Victoria Drive and so when they are in the hood, they would come and pick up some fast food take out. Food here has gotten smaller and more expensive. Quality has ran down hill a bit. This Kent's Kitchen is located inside a super busy mall that makes it super hard to get parking so you would need to park far. In the mall there are a few busy stores and this is one of them. Ok food quality. Not a WOW for sure.

I ordered Yang Chow Fried Rice and I got cut up wieners. It had no BBQ pork or Shrimp in this dish. I dont know if it's cause I'm a non Asian ordering the food but was serving to my Chinese family. This was upsetting

Having been in numerous Chinese restaurants I can safely say that Kent's kitchen is one of a kind (In a good way!). You are first greeted by someone at the door who will open it for you ( He is homeless and seeks money). When you enter you see tons of different dishes such as Duck, fried rice, broccoli and beef, Chinese vegetables, Fried shrimp, roasted pig, noodles, etc. There's so much variety in this restaurant that you might get overwhelmed by the smell and dishes all around you. Some dishes I will recommend are: Roasted pig, duck, fried rice, broccoli and beef, Mixed vegetables, Chinese noodles. When you take out the price of a small cup is $3.99 and large cup is $4.99. Most of their writing that describes the food are not in English so it's best to ask the price of something in the menu if you are not getting a dish in the cup. This is a must restaurant if you like Chinese food but want the comfort to eat it at home.

A Gastronomic Awakening in Chinatown! You don't truly know…read moreuntil you go--and now that I've been, I'm haunted. As I write this, I am literally still dreaming of the Hong Kong Style BBQ Pork. It didn't just "eat" well; it dissolved into a decadent, sweet, fatty puddle of pure bliss. Walking in, the vibe is quintessential Chinatown: a bustling counter, a glass case showcasing glistening roasted treasures, and a seating area that trades fancy decor for pure, functional authenticity. We were clearly out of our element, probably looking like deer in headlights, but the staff met our confusion with warm smiles. Then came Bobby--the absolute heart and soul of this place. We walked in expecting the standard American-Chinese routine, but Bobby whisked us away to a cozy table and treated us like family. He started us off with a fragrant jasmine tea so naturally sweet and floral it didn't need a grain of sugar--perfect for a biting winter night. While we flirted with the Happy Hour menu, Bobby took the reins. You don't say no to a man with that much charisma and passion! On his expert recommendation, we pivoted to the Two-Meat Combo (BBQ Pork + Soy Chicken) with a side of their famous Roast Duck. The food arrived in a lightning-fast 10 minutes, but the real treat was Bobby's play-by-play on how each dish was prepared. You can taste the pride in every bite. The balance was masterclass: a symphony of sweet, salty, and umami. The meats were succulent, the skins were shattery-crisp, and the glazes were perfectly sticky. The undisputed heavyweight champion, however, was that Hong Kong BBQ Pork. Imagine the best "burnt ends" of your life, drenched in a caramelized, mouth-watering sauce that demands your full attention. We left Chinatown BBQ feeling more than just sated--we felt enlightened. If you're looking for a "one in a million" meal, let Bobby order for you. You won't regret it.

With about 9-10 people per table, we were treated to what felt like at least ten courses. There wasn't much time for photos, as conversation and catching up naturally took precedence. The standouts were the seafood fried rice and the green onion lobster and crab stir-fry -- rich, comforting, and generously flavoured, the kind of dishes that quietly anchor a long meal. It was a busy holiday weekend, and the restaurant was packed. Our original 7:00 p.m. reservation was delayed until 8:00 p.m., leaving many of us waiting outside in the cold. Once seated, the pacing felt off, with dishes arriving out of sequence, which gave the meal an oddly disjointed rhythm. A small apology or update from the staff would have been welcome, but none came. Overall, the food was very tasty, and I would consider returning -- particularly to explore more of their seafood offerings.
